I agree on the Air, it was great and filled a need in the day but the MacBook is already small as it should be.

Remember the days when it was

13 MacBook and 15 MacBook Pro

Good old days of easy to understand product lines.

Yeah, that said even if it is actually a bigger version of the MacBook that is still a bit odd given that its so close to the size of the 12 inch.

Imagine thinking Serban's grammar would ever be that good, despite the humor.

You're exactly right. Serban uses very broken English with poor grammar that was difficult to understand. He also didn't comprehend our questions very well.

I just spoke to my uncle (Tim Cook), and he said that your uncle is lying. He also mentioned something about firing your uncle? Idk.

I don't have a reason to believe my uncle is lying. But if your uncle is actually Tim Cook (I highly doubt that...) then you should ask him why he cancelled the marketing!

Hey everyone. I'm currently away from college and spent the weekend with my uncle, who works in marketing at Apple. I've been pestering him all weekend, asking him if he knew anything about the Macbook Pro. His response would be to smile and say that he couldn't tell me anything. But tonight, he got pretty drunk and said he would tell me some information if I promised to "shut the **** up about the new macbooks." He said that they were working on marketing material for the new MacBook Pros, but at the beginning of this month corporate told them to stop and reassigned them to other projects. He also said that the 13inch MacBook Pro had a version without the OLED TouchBar and a more expensive version with the TouchBar. The TouchBar version was apparently supposed to be marketed as the "premium" device. Finally he mentioned that prices were up about $200 across the board.

Ok.....let's get this over with

First off, this seems VERY much like a troll rumor. While I personally can't see why anyone would want to do something like that, this forum has taught me that people of Serban's ilk absolutely do exist. The fact that the rumor aligns with the stuff @VISLAN posted makes it seem like someone trying to add verisimilitude to an absurd story. I'm sure that if Apple was so careless with who they employ or use as contractors for marketing their products we'd have seen some substantial leaks already.

However, it would be wrong of me to cast this individual as a liar when I don't have much real knowledge myself. Besides, my uncle actually said something similar; he's working with Tim on a new Mario game for Mac (did I ever mention my uncle who works for Nintendo?)

The verdict is still out, but we got our eyes on you, sonny jim!

We've held out for two years. So when you think about it, March isn't that far away, relatively speaking!

There are a variety of options currently available. I personally would recommend the non-retina MacBook Pro (which a steal, now that it has been discounted $100 off its original price); alternatively, if you need more raw computing power, there is always the iPad Pro.

That's interesting cause Tim Cook is actually my brother and seeing as it's just Tim, Michael, Gerald and I and we don't have kids I cannot possibly fathom how he has a nephew.

What is the likeyhood of seeing more eGPUs when and if the new rMBP ever hits the market?

So what will you guys do if the new MAC doesn't come out at 27th

Either get a current mid-spec 13'' (i5, 8Gb ram, 256Gb storage) plus a mini-ITX desktop (i5, GTX 1060, 16Gb ram, 512 raid0 storage)... Or go for the current 15'', whose only problem for me is the dGPU (and thus I'd be giving up on some casual gaming of Overwatch, but it would perfectly serve me for the other 99% of uses).

Who thinks Apple is going to drop Iris Pro and go with 6700HQ+polaris on the base 15" MBP then upgrade to 7700HQ as soon as it's released ?

You know, the complexity of their product lines is the one thing that has been irking me about Apple lately. Especially in the portable Mac lineup, they should trim down. I wonder if they can still fit all of their products on one table..

I think there should be MacBooks (12" and 14" option) and MacBooks Pros (14" and 16" option). Alas, I think they will keep the Air around to have a budget machine and a computer that hits $999 or below. Regardless I'm hoping they do something really impressive with the new lineup.

http://wccftech.com/amd-polaris-revisions-performance-per-watt/

AMD improves perf/watt ~50% with new polaris revision.
I'm kind of lost here. Those graphics card updates are coming much too quickly. Are we going to see a 485m in the MBP then?

The hardware-centric techreport.com had an article that sounds very skeptical about this report. Wccftech doesn't have the most reliable reputation, so they took a hard look at the underlying info from the wccftech report (analyzing the newer embedded Polaris parts), and that seems like very weak support for the argument that wccftech is spinning about an imminent "rx485m". Metal layer respins don't have nearly that massive of an effect, while a lot of the embedded Polaris differences could more plausibly be attributed to a slight downclocking. Believe you me, I would love if this report were true, since it lines up better with the perf/watt mystical performance we were first presented with in the Polaris hype (and which nvidea actually seems to hit!), but I want us to remain realistic about what we're likely to see on the 27th. Which will still be a massive upgrade to the current offering, and downright impossible compared to my dying mid2009 mbp!
