Some people just don't use Windows for these tasks i.e. I offload all my networking needs to my trusty Linux server and others have different setups where they don't run into the same problems as you do.

As a developer, I'd consider an OS without working curl anything but polished.
It may not matter to you, because you have different use case for macOS than I do, why can't you apply the same logic to Windows 10?

I do and can,
I just said, for my use-case Win10 seems not so much fitted as MacOS, I just have a hard time imagining other people (and their use-cases) that they have no problems with windows.

Maybe I just grew lazy and spoiled using macOS. Even though much of it has been under critic for a while I do enjoy the onboard-software of my Mac. Like Mail, works perfectly, I never needed any other browsing than Safari, the settings are easy to find and modify, never had any networking problems, Time Machine is the "easy goin' lazy people's backup" but works really well and everything's clean and tidy and nicely integrated. I'm not too fond of the calender though. But all those counterparts on Windows get on my nerves even more.

Again, you're right. Taste.

If Win10 was any more reliable or had the polish of MacOS I'd be gone. But how things are, I'm locked into the ecosystem... :/
OS X, seems to have less polish and stability these days. There's been an ongoing discussion about issues with wifi, how it interacts with corporate networks isn't always the easiest and Apple idea of polish is not my idea, its more of looking like iOS

So none of you running Win10 ever had the issue of the empty "last places" tab?! It's just me? 3 different machines with 2 different licenses after multiple re-installs?

:(

It's true that I'm not a fan of bringing iOS over to macOS.

Please. Convince me of Windows. My life would be SO MUCH easier and I could so much money! :(

If you still think Windows 7 is better than 10 you have clearly not been paying much attention.

Windows 10 is by far the best Windows ever made.

Then for gods sake use it and be happy with it! For my needs and in my opinion Windows 7 is the better, more stable and more configurable OS.

Don't knock the touch screen, its a great addition, I use it all the time on my Surface Book. Either with the stylus or with my finger (depending on what I'm doing).

Agreed, Win10 is a solid stable OS, and I've been pleased with it. OS X, has some advantages, but windows 10 has been great for me.

Ok but personally I don't like it on a laptop it makes the screen wobble, is a magnet for fingerprints and the OS needs to be optimized - compromised - for it's usage see Windows 10.

From what I've read it's not very stable and wants way too much information but to each their own if you like it goo for you, I prefer Windows 7 it's proven and runs well. Will be interesting what Apple has in store for the MBP either this or next year.

I've sadly known a number of monitor touchers and so touch screens or not, my monitors garner finger prints. :( I will grant you that OS X is not optimized for touch, so its addition would not be a benefit unless Apple updated OS X.

I will say the finger prints are no worse then what I've seen on an iPad, or iPhone.

From my experience it has been, I can't comment on what you came across, but I will say for my usage, its been very stable. I've had more crashes in OS X, the win10.

Windows is not perfect (nor is OS X), but I firmly believe people need to see each platform offers and then pick the platform that ticks off most of their must haves.

Well it's not really a bad thing that there is an operating system so good that you enjoy it more than others :) (same here by the way)

Don't forget about Windows updates. I have no intention to upgrade my iMac from win7 to 10. I have heard that win10 automatically updates whenever it feels like it and you can easily lose hours of work if you haven't saved.
I had this experience a few times: I'd be typing in the text editor, a pop-up would appear asking if I want to install updates now, I'd press space or enter (happens when you're typing fast) and suddenly everything would close WITHOUT SAVING and I'd be staring at the "installing update 19384 out of 120912409409" screen. That was Windows 7. I didn't enjoy it.

If only Apple knew the sheer amount of exuberance that would be created by an invite this week concentrated to this one tiny corner of the internet... It'd be like when Neil Armstrong stepped on to the moon - that's one small step for Apple, one giant leap for the 'Waiting for Skylake MBP thread.' If only Apple knew...

Apple will know. We have Tim's Nephews on here and a Nephew of an Apple Marketing guru...

And Serban.

Well guys, I came up with something that if we really care so much about MacBook Pro, why not someday we could be in the development team or be a software engineer of the Macs. I have the dream that some day I could be in charge of the Mac and by that time I could do whatever I want of a Mac. And by that time I will go back to this forum to post some anonymous rumors to give some information. Just to make this atmosphere more relaxed ^_^

Guys, I had ramen noodles today and they told me, their cousins nephew has some review units on his table.
So I contacted him for a statement and he sent me exclusive shots of the new MacBook Pro 2016.

If that was true, Black Colour Chasis on a rMBP looks awful !

Nice Photoshop, also the date is just plain wrong. 7:36 PM - Tuesday

It's been like that for a while now.

Let's face it, there are no specific rumours or leaks to an event on the 27th, just an inference from the changing of the earnings call date which could be for any number of reasons.

We currently have no reason to expect MacBook Pros are coming in October, or even November, other than desperation and hope. The same desperation and hope that we have had for 2 years now.

This is the truth. Sadly, nothing is going to happen in October.
Time to pack it up boys. :(

That is utterly stunning. Completely fake but if they make the new rMBP look like that inc. the oled bar it would be beautiful.

Add the OLED function row and that's the hotness I hope to have under my fingers in 2 weeks.
