There's a lot planned for late October:
- AirPods
- Nike+ Apple Watch
- macOS Sierra 12.1
- iOS 10.1
- Launch wave iPhone 7
Imagine if they send invites to an event tomorrow and then this is all that's announced. Plus a new Apple Music exclusive – first Kim Kardashian album.

First up, the MacBook Pro has always been the perfect balance of portability and raw power. That's why today, we're announcing an all new design. And here it is." *Cue reveals video of the new VERY THIN laptop without any USB, MagSafe, SD, HDMI, headphone jack or charger slots* The truly wireless MBP!!! You just have to put it on the $399 optional charger pad to recharge! Now running on ARM A10X processor, starting at $1999 with 2 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD, up to 6 hours on one charge! *thunderous applause* Let's look at how well it runs Mario Karts, shall we?
Fixed your typos.

Just to offer some continued hope — if the event is planned for Thursday the 27th, the most likely days for a media invite (based on past lead times) are today and tomorrow.

So you don't really need to start worrying until this time tomorrow.

Apple traditionally sends out invites about 7/8 days beforehand, I would give it until Thursday this time.

My MBP from 5 years ago is crashing every 2/3 days. It had a recall on it's mother board, and the screen is now unable to support itself and flops around. Super excited to get an upgrade last March as that was their usual release cycle drop date but alas - the hype cycle of March, then WWDC, then Sep, then October...it is really ******. Waiting sucks with a terminally ill MBP on hand and with no replacement in site. Must...not...buckle...and...buy...last...gen...MBP...but...just...might...

Well, that's your opinion regarding the butterfly keyboard. I can easily come out and say that "my own time playing with one" was great, because it truly was - for me. I can also say that I've seen tons of reviews out there that say that it definitely grows on you. Now there are a lot of people who strongly prefer the new keyboard.
As a rMB owner, count me as one of those who loves the new keyboard. The old one just feels strange now, and the larger key caps feel much more natural.

Wait till the 27th at least...you'd regret it if they DO introduce the new MBP that day.

I took a look and this doesn't appear to be true.
  • iPhone 7 event: 9 days (August 29 for a September 7 event)
  • 2016 WWDC keynote: 12 days (June 1 for a June 13 for event
  • iPad / iPhone SE event: 11 days (March 10 for a March 21 event)
  • iPhone 6S: 13 days (August 27 for a September 9 event)

This.
???
Can't A serious gamer play games on their desktop PC, but also play games on a laptop, and also on a console, and also on a mobile device??

'a serious gamer would never consider gaming on a laptop' <-- makes no sense.

Hum, no. Go to Youtube or Twitch and check triple A gamers' computer specs. A laptop is a huge tradeoff. In the end, a gaming laptop is not particularly good at being a gaming computer, nor a laptop. For a casual gamer, it may be fine... But not for the hardcore gamers.

Look at a 13 or 15 inch dell xps laptop and say that. I don't think I can go back to a laptop with a bezel.

I'll take the bezels any day of the week over the weird webcam position of the XPS line. Sadly, design over function.

My late-2008 model MBP is 92 months old. It still works fine, just very sluggish (even after upgrade to 8GB RAM). And it's still running an old OS, so it's also not secure and a lot of programs won't run on it. Luckily I'm not in urgent need of an upgrade/replacement like it sounds like you are, so I'll keep holding out at least until the end of the month to see if they release the 2016s. I haven't been paying attention to Mac news, so actually I had no idea a new release was even happening possibly soon until I was about to buy my new MBP today and started googling for processor choice suggestions and stumbled upon the rumors. Glad I waited!

Guys, has anyone bought a Macbook Pro with a keyboard layout not advertised on local Apple Store site right after release (you make an order on local Apple Store site with any keyboard and then contact sales to change the keyboard layout to the preferred one)? It took a month for iMac 5K 27" with different keyboard layout to be delivered in August-September but iMac 5K 27" is not a new release... What period am I looking at? January?

I think you are seriously misunderstanding...

There is a huge difference between:
'a serious gamer would never consider gaming on a laptop'
vs
'a serious gamer would never consider a laptop as their primary/only gaming platform'

Furthermore, I am a PC / Desktop gamer and I like to play AAA games at the highest settings possible.

However, consider someone who spends far more hours playing destiny on a ps4, or far more hours playing games on a xbox. Or someone spending far more hours playing league of legends or Wow on a laptop.

I don't see how I am any more entitled to the title 'serious gamer' than these people.

Good point, but I still wouldn't panic until Thursday evening/Friday morning, but of course - the sooner the invite drops, the better.

For some positivity, the last October event, in 2014, was announced 8 days in advance. So I won't start worrying until Wednesday.

Apple EVENT HEADLINE guessing time !!

"Hello Darkness My Old Friend"
- old friend call back tinged with sadness
- matte black macbook pros
Dont use caps unless the invites are out for real. Everytime I see those caps posts my heart skips a beat, because I think there is news. So don't do that too often. Thank you!

Just thinking, what if Apple drops a newly designed MBP with OLED strip...but uses the same old Haswell/Broadwell chips!

Now that would be cruel. :)

I think the tagline will be "GOTTA CATCH'EM ALL".

(and then we'll discover that they're talking about watch bands)

So the invites are going out either this Tuesday or this Thursday. the 18th or the 20th.
Why are you eliminating the 19th as a possibility?

Personally, I think tomorrow is for sure the day for something. Either a press release or invites.

I can almost taste Tim Cook up on stage in a couple weeks: "Just launching last month, the iPhone 7 blah blah, launching in more countries, our users taking beautiful portraits already, blah blah, iOS 10 adoption rate. Now with AirPods, truly wireless, etc."

Then he launches into, "We haven't forgotten about our bread and butter products. Mac has always been the soul of Apple. And today we have a few exciting things to share with you. First up, the MacBook. Two years ago, we launched the new MacBook. It was an incredible innovation from many different aspects. It embraced our passion for a wireless world. So we asked ourselves... how do we bring this new design to our other products? We haven't forgotten that our customers still love our Air and Pro laptops. First up, the MacBook Pro has always been the perfect balance of portability and raw power. That's why today, we're announcing an all new design. And here it is." *Cue reveal video of the bombest most fire MBP we could have ever imagined* Then Tim walks back on stage holding this work of art. "This... is the new MacBook Pro. We spent a lot of time getting it just right and we think you're going to love it. To tell you all about it, here's Phil Schiller." *thunderous applause*
Hah! This was spot on. The whole thing played out in my head.
