finally a new rumor! I'm starting to think just a press release before end of October. I'm still waiting to receive my Apple Store gift card to use towards the computer.

Do you think the new MacBook pros will come with USB C adapters or will we have to pay for them separately?

finally a new rumor! I'm starting to think just a press release before end of October. I'm still waiting to receive my Apple Store gift card to use towards the computer.

FUTURE ANNOUNCEMENT:
"And Apple today releases the new AirPods to the wild and are shipping today, as a side note the new MacBook Pros were also silently posted on the companies store front, somewhat silent, if it wasn't for the hammering going on over at macrumors.com"

Sucks, I want an event don't we all!

100% there WILL be an event for new MacBook Pro's. Too big a deal to not. There has to be a new iPad mini thrown in too, and some sort of iPod mention. Then there's the elusive display.......

The English version of the Macotakara says:
Will the next MacBook Pro be released some time in October? Is the MacBook Air model having a complete replacement as well?

According to information from a reliable Chinese supplier, Apple is planning to announce the new MacBook Pro within this month, and to begin shipping out to retailers in October.

There has also been rumors that they are going to cancel MacBook Air of the 11-inch model, to focus on the 13-inch ones.

Furthermore, it seems that they are also going to announce the new MacBook Pro at the same time, which will go on to replace the entire MacBook Pro series.

It seems all of these models are developed with support for the USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports in mind, and will no longer be compatible with the USB-A connector, and the MagSafe 2 and Thunderbolt 2 ports.

The google translate of same says:
According to the reliable sources, Apple has also announced during the next week the next "MacBook Pro (Late 2016)", we talk to seem to begin shipping from the end of October.

As rumor seems to be two types of 13-inch, 15-inch model.

In addition, the next "MacBook Air (13-inch, Late 2016)" also announced at the same time 11-inch model seems to be the end.

All of these become a USB-C and Thunderbolt3 port specification, USB-A connector, the MagSafe 2, Thunderbolt2 port is a design that comes to an end.

Does that mean the line will be:
15 in MacBook pro
13 in MacBook air
12 in Macbook?

Yeah but they tried NT on other platforms but for the most part they weren't mainstream nor were they major breadwinners and some if not most, failed, the line I am talking about is the 3 - 95 - 98 - 2000 - XP - Vista - 7 - 8 - 10, the FRANCHISE OS, the ones that made the money.

I mean Apple had other projects such as A/UX and even AIX, Mac OS Server 1.0, etc, but these were not the Major Line or "Flagship OSes", I mean there are side projects that fail. But I am talking about the major mac line that was actually USED by CONSUMERS, in the millions, not a couple IT guys beta testing Server Hardware in the back...

Oh I know, it's going to be rough...

I saw Windows NT 4 Workstation in businesses of all sizes, especially banks for years. Not to mention, NT superseded OS/2 on millions of ATMs world wide. You really need to do more research about Windows. As far back NT 3.5 it was just as popular as Windows 3x in corporate environments because of pre-emptive multi-tasking, protected memory and 32 bit computing. Some of which mainstream Mac users didn't start getting until Mac OS 10.0. Considering, Mac OS X didn't start going full mainstream until 10.3 or 10.4, it was pretty much catch up.

The point was not that NT was not successful on other architectures, it was the point you made about Windows being only mainstream on one processor architecture its entire life. Windows NT and Windows 9x might not have been the same architecturally, but they shared the same WIN32 API's. That why concurrently, products in the 90s and early 2000's worked on both.

100% an event is happening and I'd put money on it being on the 27th. This is too big of a deal not to do an event, new designed MacBook pros, an Air along with the OLED bar. You know Phil is gonna talk his head off about how great and amazing it is to drive those sales figures fresh after the disappointing earnings call on the 25th, mark my words the event followed by the release will see unprecedented demand I mean we've been waiting how long?!! No doubt about it, the event is coming and invites in 48 hours

Tim if the new rMBP comes out this month I'll trade you my iPhone 6s+ for an iPhone 7+ Matte Black and I'll buy a pair of crappy Airpods on top of the rMBP. Srs.

Honestly it isn't a big deal. I mean yeah its a big deal to a handful of people on an Internet forum but relative to the iPhone it barely moves the needle. If it did it wouldn't have been waiting so long for an update.

Long time stalker, first time poster...

So wanted to chime in here as this thread seems to go in circles every few days, thought I'd jump on the merry-go-round for a bit.

I see a lot of people complaining over the 2016 MBP's lack of ports (Before anything is actually announced, based on previous 'leaks'). I've seen that case with 4 cutouts presumably for 4 USB C ports, but I cannot fathom Apple doing this on the Pro model. Obviously the complaints about multiple adapters are valid, but also, does the mass market of the MBP need 4 USB ports?

I'm still using my trusty early 2011 13" Pro here, and like so many others am desperate for an upgrade. The screen is the main thing for me as a designer. Now on my device I have ample ports and such, and the optical drive. However, I don't and have rarely used these to be honest. I think I've used the optical drive maybe 3 times (Everything is online now), the ethernet port maybe the same (Everything is wireless), the firewire I've never used (I've never owned anything with firewire save for a really old camcorder maybe), the thunderbolt port has been used a few times for the HDMI adapter... Otherwise it's been the USB for HDDs and FDDs etc. and the SD reader for camera work. So I don't really care about the lack of ports and am all for future proofing the device.

But again, would the majority of users need all those ports? And actually use 4 USB ports? Maybe only like 20% of the users? At least that's my thinking IF Apple decide to do away with them all.

However one thing that lacked was the magsafe, presumably the new device would charge via USB (Which can be handy). But I would have to ask, could USB even charge the device in the first place? It works on the rMB as they use low power CPUs but would that work for a proper Skylake setup? I'm skeptical if a standard USB charger would work, and if not would require a separate power brick, which is just bad design.

Could that 'leaked' part actually be just an early prototype or even a larger rMB? The 1 port on the 12" is kind of limiting, as is the screen size. I'd imagine eventually Apple would release a 14" version, with more ports, so this seems more likely to me at least.

I think the Pro line will do away with some of the current ports and sticking stuff together with USB 3 does seem a much better long term solution. But I don't see them going nuts, making the thing super slim, and dumbing down the ports to such an extent. I'd like to see a 14" rMB and them do away with the Air as I think that would make a stronger lineup for Apple, and give a clearer Consumer/Pro setup for purchasers.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll see something eventually but that's just my input. Someone with more hardware/technical experience please let me know about the USB power thingy as I'm curious!

Apples and oranges mate you can't compare a machine built to serve you for a good 5 years to a mobile device which people refresh like every 2 years, MacBooks have a big share of the market when it comes to developers, designers, college students, youtubers etc not to mention when it is announced you'll have a ton of spoilt kids suddenly wanting an upgrade on their current machine come Xmas time.

Unless that 13" MBA is still non-retina, it doesn't make sense to have it so close in size to the current 12" MacBook.

I'm not comparing the two machines, i'm just saying the level of interest from the media and the public in general is just nowhere near the same. The entire Mac line is 7% (on a good day!) of the PC market. To put things in perspective in Q1 2016 they shipped 4.4 million Macs and 51 million iPhones. :D During that quarter the iPhone SE got its own keynote and the update to the MacBook didn't even warrant a mention.

Honestly I don't really see why people care as long as they release the things. I can live without Phil Schiller drivel to be honest !

What are the chances of seeing a press release tomorrow? Wishful thinking :p I could see 10.12.1 being released tomorrow along with invites for a event or straight to a press release.
