The justification is that you no longer need to have it plugged in all the time anymore. While I don't agree with this 100%, the fact that it standardizes the adapter protocol is worth the sacrifice of MagSafe. No more $80 chargers, no more proprietary cables.

For these reasons, I've accepted the MagSafe's fate. After way too much spent because of fraying and cat damage, I'm OK with it.

Remember that Ming Chi Kuo rumour about Macbook coming in 12" and 13" sizes? I think that is more likely. I know that Apple's lineup has been alphabet soup for the last few years but surely even they wouldn't keep a Macbook Air that is thicker than MacBook if it was now going to be more expensive as well. So we're back to where this discussion was a year ago: rMB 12" and 13"/14", RMBP 13" and 15".

The rumors seem to support a price increase across the board.
Macbook - $1299
Macbook Air 13"- $1499
Macbook Pro 13"- $1699
Macbook Pro 15" $2299

Unfortunately, this resembles my exact thoughts about the new price policy. Stretched update cycles like those at the moment (and in the future), require pricetags that seem unreasonable in the present.

if the new MacBook Pro doesn't come out by the end of October, I'm buying a 12in MacBook. I can't stand my 9 year old Windows laptop anymore.
Weird. If you are waiting to buy a Macbook Pro, how can the Macbook be a substitute? Either you dont need the power of a Macbook Pro or the macbook won't be enough.

If the new MBP are not coming soon I'll get some powerful windows machine in 2 months (tops) cause for my needs I can't get a Macbook, and the old MBP is too expensive for what it offers (it's old).

After waiting a year and the new macs right on our doorstep... work is now going to supply me with one, since ive shifted into a more devops role. Good and bad I guess. Good because I get an awesome machine without spending a dime, bad because it wont be latest shiny and new thing ive just spent like 12 months waiting for. However it lets me keep 3-4k in my pocket. So thats a big win :) up until I either quit work, or they put some horrible policies on it like they do the windows machines.

Brain. Also, it's a fair price considering I was basing the prices off of what the original rMBP's were going for when they first came out. I imagine Apple needs to keep margins with an OLED bar, new processors, brand new RAM, and higher specs for base configurations. Anyone thinking the new 13" rMBP will be going for less than $1500 is nuts.

I must say I despise the fact that they're getting rid of MagSafe if that's true. MagSafe and 3 USB-C would be A-OK with me.

Really, removing MagSafe would be a catastrophe. It's one of Macbook's best features :(

Agreed. This isn't an example of ditching the headphone jack as a means of making progress. At a time when more and more people are using their MBPs outside the home or office, this would be a backward move, regardless of the fact that MBPs might not need to be charged as often.

I have a 2016 rMB. I could always use more cpu grunt, but it still manages 40MB raw files without a hiccup.

Where it falls down is the limit of 512GB and a single USB/power port. (USB-C hubs have "quirks", but direct USB-C to USB-A cables work flawlessly).

Woah, that's whopping for Germany.
1950€ for the 13" and 2500€ for the base 15". If they would double the storage on the base model, that price bump would be no problem.

Dont worry at the end of october there will be rumors that apple will announce new macs in november *quote from somebody in other thread* it seems like it will happen this way though

This thread is is now officially in the 3rd stage of grief, people are bargaining and would accept a price increase just to have something. So sad.

In Germany the Upgrade from 128GB to 256GB costs 200€, from 256GB to 512GB we have to pay 360€. So that wouldn't be a price bump when you plan to get more storage. :)

1950€ for the base 13"? That's a bad joke, right?
I don't really know, but since 2015 the MacBook Pro costs 250€ more than you would pay in America in dollar. Before, it was 1:1.

That's insane. Especially given the exchange rate: 1 USD = 0.89 EUR. I know Apple won't follow the exchange rate, but 1950€ is unjustifiable.

except they will still offer 128GB in the base model

Which rumors?
The rumors for existence of these four laptops as the new MB lineup and the fact that the rMB is a) $1299 and b) the new replacement for the 11" MBA. Apple is looking to raise their average laptop price; same thing they just did with their iPhone.

You said 'rumors', but now you say brain. Are the rumors in your brain? :D

Thats not really a rumor regarding the price, you're just assuming they'll raise it
