There is something that still feels wrong: they've released the iPhone that connects to a USB-A port and now they will release a laptop that out of the box cant accept that iPhone since since all ports are USB-C? That seems very odd

The cable is meant more for charging your phone. Apple is delusional and thinks that our iOS products don't need macOS. Even though you can't write any iOS apps without macOS.

But hopefully something in the next 50hrs. :)

EDIT: Whoops! Looks like 9:10 is the magic number :)

How many years have manufacturers been churning out smartphones and tablets? How long have manufacturers been churning out laptops and desktops. How long have each of these OSs been around for?

Do you seriously think that proper laptops and desktops are going to enjoy the same focus and improvements year on year that mobiles do. Its really simple. There is far more mileage in iOS and mobile devices as well as the huge market for them.

People whinge to high heavens about not getting magical updates to macOS and the associated hardware when there isn't the technology or possibility to do that much.

If apple can keep the same design and 2 year old hardware and still have the best all in one laptop then what does that say about the market in general.

How many people still use macs from 5 years ago? How many people still use an iphone from 5 years ago?

Magical updates, its not even just about the hardware.

Look at the additions to MacOS with Sierra. Siri years after it arrived on iOS, we're apparently going to see touch ID years after it arrived on iOS, Apple Pay again lagging behind iOS, Picture in picture a year after it arrived on the iPad. Most of the iMessage functionality announced at WWDC isn't even supported on the Mac :D

It just isn't a priority for them it is clear as day.

Did you guy's see the Mac otakara/9 to 5/verge report this morning? How many times have we heard a different version of the same original rumor in the past 6 months?

This is getting ridiculous!

Seriously it's the same thing over and over. I'm really losing hope at this point. Those stories are just as empty as they were a month ago. Unless they KNOW something we don't I don't get why they're posted (clicks aside).

Your post is incorrect. There is no 7 year warranty law. All EU countries do have the 2 year warranty law on all electronic devices. This covers all hardware faults. Moreover, in most countries it's up to the seller to prove it's your fault if the defect occurs in the first 6 months.

Seems there was a replacement to the SOG1979 act last year. Still 6 years in the UK (5 in Scotland). There is still the 2 year EU warranty on all goods sold however, just gets complicated in the UK with conflicting laws.

Even still, the standard warranty covers the bare minimum of repair times and replacements. You'd probably find a paid extended warranty would give you extra protection and guarantees. Standard warranty can take account of your use of the product too when offering a refund, so you're not entitled automatically to 100% money back. I don't bother with extended warranties myself as chances are I'd replace something within 5 years anyway and the legal headaches you get from them just aren't worth the money invested.
