The rumors seem to support a price increase across the board.
Macbook - $1299
Macbook Air 13"- $1499
Macbook Pro 13"- $1699
Macbook Pro 15" $2299

I don't know why so many people questioned this... This is exactly true.

They be able to shave a little off though.
Macbook - $1199
Macbook Air 13"- $1399 (might also be called 13/14" rMB)
Macbook Pro 13"- $1599
Macbook Pro 15" $1999

This is one potential line up. The other possibility is that Apple decides they DO want a $999 machine.

Then the lineup would look more like this:

MacBook Air 13" $999 (non retina)
MacBook - $1299
Macbook Pro 13"- $1499
Macbook Pro 15" $1999

They need a machine at $999. The Air must be that machine, since the 12" MacBook starts at $1299.

Do they? If they decide they want to continue to have a $999 machine then they will go with earlier lineup. However, I think it's possible that Apple no longer wants a low price laptop, as $999 is not longer a premium price point among pc laptops. $999 is becoming more so the norm these days. So Apple can easily be above the norm.

Also Apple may want to drive iPad Pro sales by not having a mac laptop at $999.

Question is it usually possible to get newly released Macs on the 0% 12 month finance deal that Apple offers?
18 months actually.

I wonder if the new report that the "MBP is still coming this month" could be a controlled Apple leak to calm us all down? On the other hand, they probably wouldn't use "a reliable Chinese supplier", but rather "a friendly American journalist" to leak this.

So where does iOS development come from?

Storks, obviously.

You answered your own question there. It might be accurate but it's not a controlled leak.

Bold Prediction:

- Apple internally pushes back rMBP release to March/April 2017
- Mac sales continue to decline due to a lack of updates
- Next earnings meeting comes up, Mac profits down, iPhone still up, delayed update still "1-2 months away"
- Apple soon announces that due to declining Mac sales, they will no longer be making macs
- iPhones, iPads and Watches are the future.

I was actually thinking the same thing. It's all been very strategic...

I feel pretty good after the rumor today. Source has a decent track record. I'm going to go to sleep, and when I wake up, we'll have our invites. Night all.
You might not have your invites when you wake, but we'll definitely have another 250 posts!

Apple brought the 15" back to $2000 from $2200. They are not going to raise it by $300 now. Rumors like LED strips add very little value to the thing. If anything I suspect the macbook will eventually come down slightly.

edit: no credible rumors have suggested any of that.

Haha, I think you and I had a similar exchange sometime back. We seem to be the only ones who think Apple will drive up the average sale price of MacBooks. Heck, by eliminating the cMBP and 11" MBA, they'll be doing that even if other prices don't change. I didn't give the idea that the MBA may be non-Retina much thought. In that case, your second guess sounds legit. Otherwise, the price cut on the MB to squeeze in a MBA makes sense. I'll be happy if I can get a 15" 16GB 512GB for $2500.

Make it 1TB and dGPU for that price (in €) and I'll be really happy :D

I had a MacBook crap out on me 1.5 years in. Got a quote from an Apple approved repair shop, sent the quote in to my visa, and they covered it. No hassle. Logic board $900. Was awesome.

Well, if there won't be any invite the next days, I truly hope that some investors will explicitly ask Apple what's going on during the earnings call. Hope someone of them shows COURAGE asking unfavored questions.
