Guys, Imagine is we would see this Thursday after next (Oct. 27, 2016)? No ports only wireless charging. Wireless everything including hard drives. I know my photo shop skills are horrible.
That would fearsome in a bad way. But like a quoted post said, 4 ports. etc

But I am seriously seeing the whole MacBook (whatever) line turning into 1 port, 2 ports, 4 ports. And those are the models...

I agree.

I'm thinking this:
(assume that all include the headphone jack as a default)
MacBook 12 - 1 port
MacBook 13/14 - 2 ports (One USBC, and the other TB3)
MacBook Pro 13/15 - 4 ports (2 USB C, 2 TB3)

Also, I think they may introduce some kind of turbo-charging capabilities. What d'ya people think?

Iris Pro 580 + possibly RX 460. Whatever it is will be a complete utter extreme downgrade from the 1070.

Yes I know, I'm willing to part with some of the power of my 1070 for a shiny new MacBook. The rumors of a 460 are super lame though... I hope it's better. I know Macs aren't for gaming and I need them for Adobe stuff, but still.

Keeping my HP until the announcement so I can play Battlefield 1. :)

I think Apple just barely got these new Mbps ready for October, since they had to reschedule the earnings call.

I hope we don't run into issues as first adopters.

Bro, you are WAAAY behind the times. You missed, like, at least 10 pages of people freaking out about it :). Yes, it is really happening. We're about 95% certain this is completely real. We're expecting the invite tomorrow or the day after.

Yeah. Have been trying to stay away from this thread for a bit ;). Very, very excited right now! :D

Ok everyone make sure you have your credit cards/cash/favors ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)/sugar daddy ready for the 27th incase they are announced on that day.

Demand is Sky high, even your neighbors cousin is trollin' these forums looking for a fix. Now 2012 rMBP 15" was announced @ WWDC. Orders for the the new MacBook went live right after the end of the keynote that monday. By Wednesday:

MacRumors said:
Shipping estimates for the Retina MacBook Pro continue to slip, with new orders now estimated to ship in 3-4 weeks across Apple's online stores. The slip to 3-4 weeks comes roughly 24 hours after they slipped to 2-3 weeks.

If supplies are as tight as last time then there's a very small window where you won't see extra delays. While stores did receive their stocks throughout the week it was fairly inconsistent in terms of what was available. CTO or not, your best bet is to order online as quickly as possible if you want it the fastest.

Also which caught a lot of people off guard, BTO options were added after the machines had been in the wild for about a month, I would expect this to happen with the 2016 rMBP because we haven't yet seen the i7-6870HQ, 6970HQ in the wild. The higher parts might be available but could be tied to the top tier model. If you want to mix and match (i.e. base CPU with max SSD, max CPU with base storage etc) you might end up waiting a few weeks on top of the bto wait:

MacRumors said:
Apple today quietly expanded the available configuration options for the Retina MacBook Pro, now offering a full slate of individual upgrade options on the base model that starts at $2199. Previously, customers who opted for the base model were locked into a 2.3 GHz Core i7 processor and 256 GB of flash storage, with the only configurable onboard option being a $200 RAM upgrade from 8 GB to 16 GB. Customers looking to boost either the CPU or storage were required to step up to the high-end $2799 model, which offers both a 2.6 GHz i7 processor and 512 GB of storage, with additional upgrades beyond that.

Apple is now offering all available upgrades on the low-end model, giving customers full control over their configuration needs. For example, users who want to upgrade storage on the low-end model can now do so with 512 GB ($500) and 768 GB ($1000) standalone options that do not also require an upgraded CPU. Similarly, users interested in boosting the base 2.3 GHz CPU to the 2.6 GHz chip can now do so on the base model for just $100 without having to step up the full $600 to the high-end model with both CPU and storage upgrades.

So what you're saying is inb4 people are going to keep waiting in hopes of a 32gb config if it isn't a thing at launch.

I hope so. I want touch ID more than an OLED bar...
you know, none of the guys who released the news today about the event talked about Touch ID (unless i missed it), even if they had talked about it before in other articles from awhile ago.

they haven't scrapped those plans, have they?

I expect this might be premature to ask about a product that is yet-to-be-announced and that we don't know much about the internal workings of, but what are the odds that this unit will have RAM we can upgrade from third parties? Or do you think it will be soldered in?

Was the mid-2015 version memory upgradeable?

Asking because if it is not upgradeable out of the box, I'll obviously max out my memory when I purchase from Apple, but if I can swap out the memory myself, then I might opt for a third party. Apologies if this is a dumb question. Been lurking here for almost two years and my brain is mush.

Will Best Buy have any stocks of these? I have $300 in rewards I was planning on using

The internal components are most certainly not user serviceable. That's not to say you won't be able to with some 3rd party kit (this depends on how Apple makes the laptop, etc.), but you void your warranty. Buy what you can afford that will last you as long as possible for what you need. Remember that I/O is fast now with USB-C so external storage is always a future option if you can't afford too much internal storage.

Apple stores in major population centers will have consistent stock. You shouldn't have a problem walking in and buying one, despite what anyone here says (LA, NYC, Chicago). Best Buy will get them later, especially if there are supply constraints. My advice is walk in to Apple if you live in one of those three cities, get it from Apple.com if you don't, and try Best Buy as your third choice.

If you want a custom order, good luck, lol.

Check this out: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/warranty-void-if-removed-stickers-are-illegal

I don't know if it applies to upgrades, though.
Nice read. Sounds like Apple handles their business in a clever way:

“‘May’ and ‘should’ mean they recommend it but are not forcing a particular behavior,” he told me. “If they were to deny warranty coverage because someone opened the phone or did previous work, the question then becomes: What is the basis of their denial? Is it that the phone was opened or that when opened, someone tampered with the phone in a way that cause a defect or malfunction? If the latter, they are good.”

The rumors are finally starting to line up..
In the past how fast were the new macbooks available after the event?
Is it like the iphones with a shortage and having to wait in line? or can I just go to the apple store on the release day and buy one?

Anyone know how it has gone with other retailers in the past? I'm planning to buy from BestBuy because I have a credit card with them. I know in the past, the macs have been available right after the keynote. Does that apply to BestBuy? Or do they get their stock day(s) later?
