The rumors are finally starting to line up..
In the past how fast were the new macbooks available after the event?
Is it like the iphones with a shortage and having to wait in line? or can I just go to the apple store on the release day and buy one?

Standard models shouldn't be a problem. However, when I was ordering my late 2013 Macbook Pro 13", I wanted 16GB RAM, after BTO it was "shipping it 3-4 weeks". I didn't want to wait that long so I just got the 8GB one, it was readily available.

So I'm guess I'm going to have to return the HP Omen I got with a GTX 1070 in it. It sure it nice running Overwatch in 4K, but of course Windows 10 scales so badly with 4K which is an issue for me.

Any rumors on the GPU we'll get in the 2016 MBP?
Oh ****, just realized I won't be able to play lot of games with the Mac :S. I guess I'll have to keep playing overwatch on my old PC :(

So it is already the 18th of October. Is Skylake a history? At this point of time I would rather wait for Kaby Lake.
you can continue to wait till next summer (maybe they will update it). I could see them skipping kaby the way things have been going the last few years.

The Macrumors front page article says "Re/code does not detail which Macs will receive a refresh at the event, but Apple's entire Mac lineup, aside from the Retina MacBook, is in need of a refresh." WTF is that ? does the Retina Macbook especially 15" not need a upgrade ? How can these people say that the everything besides Retina Macbook need a refresh. The 15" rMBP hasnt seen a refresh since last what 2 years now ? I am already getting very disspointed and nervous about this 27th event if they do not refresh the 15' rMBP ? what do you guys think is the 15" rMBP in line for a upgrade too ?

Err, I don't think they'll be available right after the announcement. It almost never happens
They will be available right after the event. It will happen. Mark my words. Source is this man:

The dad of the classmate of my cousin has a colleague who has a friend who has Tim Cook on LinkedIn. And he says there WILL be an event. So stop saying things about "a silent update" or "press release" please. Just 9 more days and we can admire the MBP at the event!

What they call Retina MacBook is just the MacBook (which is also Retina), not the MBPs

I think you need to re-read that bold part again. :p

Relax man. He's talking about the new "Macbook", not about the "MacBook Pro". I advice you to pick up the MBP at the Apple store in Amsterdam. You can smoke some green too there, to relax a bit.

I wonder what we will look back on as the most painful week(s):

- The past few months
- The next week while we wait for Apple to actually announce them
- When we're waiting for those damn things to actually arrive.

You wanna hear something crazy?

I'll tell you right now my Type-C future, so far one device AppleTV 4.

Besides that, unless the iPhone 7s/8 has Type-C, for the next 5-8 years, I am going to go knee deep in USB-3 and ThunderBolt-2 devices and just be "chilling like a villain."

I am dead serious! 5-8 years abstaining from Type-C.

The only other chance is an ArmBook, that has Type-C, or if they still make a MacBook Pro Gen 2, then one of those in 3 years.

BUT after my 5 year hiatus, and denial, if and when Type-C coupled with TB3 is flying smoother than silk, and all the drives are SSD or even Optane, and transfer at a minimum of 750 MB/s (capital B).

THEN I will dive deep into Type-C with TB3.

All new RAID 5 enclosures
External Backup SSD drives
All new flash drives
New Flatbed Scanner
New Battery Packs
New Type-C Hubs
WebCams
4K Monitors x6
Audio/Midi Interfaces
etc
YOU NAME IT
but I already got most of that crap!
I have an Apple ecoSystem of 20 plus years built on FW400 FW800 USB1 USB2 USB3 ESATA TB1 TB2 DP HDMI
And all of it WORKS!

So 5 year HIATUS for me.

I am just gonna kick back, and start making a list and comparing product after product for 5 years, then during the 5-8 year period, then I am going start digging in. I'm not bragging or anything, but man unless you are starting out fresh like 15 years old to 30 years old, and going to get all up in this, then GREAT go Type-C have fun.

But seriously, to use Type-C to it's fullest would mean, "to me", having my whole environment, rearranged and upgraded to Type-C, because I wouldn't want to look back at any of those old crusty connectors. I would just want to be like "connect from this to this NO PROBLEM Type-C, from this to this, NP Type-C, that to that NP Type-C, and ALL OF IT FAST"

Because what's the point of abandoning all of these other connectors and connections, to have a simple Type-C and then just to plug in a power cable, external drive, or iPhone? I mean if this is gonna truly be like the last stand with the cables and connectors, then when ALL the devices ARE THERE, and it's IN FULL USE, GREAT. Not to mention lower prices.

I don't want to get taxed for 5 years...

Just my 2 cent's but I'll see you when I'm 50...50! damn it's going by quick! HAHAHAHAH

I mean seriously tho Type-C is NO JOKE, it's the END of an ERA...

Oops forgot about that, quite disappointing that even Blizzard are not bothering to port games to the Mac now... But games always run far better under Bootcamp anyway.

I read hat it was because of some DirectX problems, that Mac ones were old or something. But yeah, I forgot about bootcamp, this is gonna be my first Apple machine (besides an Ipad I already have) and I don't really know how bootcamp works. I'll have to check out!

A coincidence that @adildacoolset's original post, the post that started this whole thread, was on October 27?

I think not.

Clearly we all failed to see the message there right in front of our very eyes, like the graffiti on the train we take every day - only the graffiti was written by Tim Cook!

Damn! You're Right off by 1 day, but holy crap 3 years to the day...

I started reading from the 1st post and it started out to be good reading!

But then I was like get out here.

I think I joined in around 700-800?

Yeah go back and read pages 1- 600 wow. Could be fun tho, we still have time hahah

Must be because I'm in a different time zone that the day shows differently to me. Where I am it says the 27th. An extraordinary coincidence nonetheless.

Clearly they were talking about the 12" rMB only. Aren't you the same guy who believed and ranted about the NotJohnnyIves tweet? Might be time to put down the crack pipe ;)
