So, first-time poster but I've been following this thread for quite some time on and off. In terms of apple products I currently own an old Ipad 2 and I also had an iPhone 4 quite some time ago.

I'm thinking of making the switch to the Apple ecosystem, starting with the iPhone 7+ (which I will buy probably this week) and now also with the new macbook pro.

Considering I live in Europe/Ireland, after Apple announces the new macs on the 27th, how long before I can actually order/get one in my hands do you think is going to take? I am mainly hoping for fellow Europeans to answer my query, hoping there are a few here :).

Thanks!

Someone asked where to buy/order.
The best choice might be the Appstore app since Apple seems to prefer those clients (friend got his iPhone 7 without any problems on the first day)

Secondly a question regarding accessoires.
I have a Dell monitor which is plugged into my current MBP via mini display port. It also supports HDMI.
What would be the best connector with USB-C only ports? (any suggestions for a hub?)

No, they won't upgrade the 15 inch. Its not that old, and it's obvious only for old people with bad eyes. Old people dont care about the latest specs. So they're just upgrading the 13 inch.
Hmmm hope it's an irony!

I'm scared about this "only USB-C" thing... What I'm going to do with my4 hard drives, pendrives, monitors...? I'll have to buy a adaptors for everything!! It really sucks.

I am surprised people can't decide as to which colour to buy - when all i am worried about is deciding whether

a) If I am going with the dGPU or sticking with Iris Pro 580 on the 15 inch
b) If there is an Air 2016 refresh and whether I will go for it instead of the Pro line

That is where my real conundrum lies!

Guys in the past have stores had a small number of BTO MBPs? Surely Apple must ship some maxed out spec models to stores? What's my chances of picking one up from the store if I'm quick to to order online for it to be collected in store?

Has Apple ever sent out invites less than 7 days before an event?
If not, we can expect them as definitely today (19th), or tomorrow (20th).

Countdown to 20th! (remove one day for 19th countdown ;))

We could even see invites today, but that's pushing it. Traditionally October events invites come 7 or 8 days before. The reason why I have a flicker of hope that they might come today is after the surge of press news from the guys like Gurman and co yesterday night (uk time) either way if Apple don't surprise us with any invites today it's gonna be Thursday for sure

I've been reading this thread for a long time (bookmarked page 465, but was probably following before that), and rarely posting. But I want to thank you guys. You made the journey much nicer. This really was "one of the most unique online events" (Apologies to the person that has this in their signature, I don't remember your username right now).

I'm hoping for a matte black, but I'll take space grey as well.

Do you think they'll offer a 2TB SSD for BTO?

Also, very wishful thinking: a 4K option for the 15" BTO would be very nice.

In my opinion a refresh to the 15' rMBP would make it a beast of a machine. So for me it is much awaited.

Same for me, except that I hesitate between :
15" with dGPU
15 with iGPU
13" "high end"
(will not mind choosing a colour on impulse if several one are available but for sure will not take days to choose one)

And I suspect the air could be kept as non retina if kept (even though I don't know at all)

We'll find out in 5 hours and 50 minutes. :)

Looks like more chatter/rumors about an Oct 27th rollout - that's good news for the Mac faithful who have waited so long

Is anyone else planning on financing? Why does it seem that everyone is about to blow like three grand all at once?

Barclays lets you finance with no interest for a year and a half. You need their credit card, but if you have decent credit it shouldn't be a problem.

Im planning on paying about $2300 assuming there isnt a price increase. Im a college student so i'd rather pay it all in cash than use credit and accidentally miss a payment. I've been saving for over a year so i paying in full is fine for me

Here's hoping the prices don't go up to much.

Current dGPU 15'' is 2550€ here (with student discounts, on Apple's website). I hope it doesnt go above 2600...

If they refresh the Air, I am certain they would go Retina screen. The 12" macbook is already differentiated by the fact it is still smaller, it is of silent operation and has that funky keyboard - while the refreshed air will probably host a 15w processor, so requires active cooling. It also won't overshadow the 13" pro because, the pro will have a 28w processor, better iGPU and that OLED bar.

For me, the Air refresh seems to be a must, to go between the 12" rMBP and the Pro Lines, they are both of extreme uses - so it would be silly to kill off the Air lineup.

High end 13" is actually a possibility for me too, though it does depend how much I am willing to forego GPU performance. Also I hope it doesn't have the same issue as the 13" current rMBP, where the front edge (below trackpad) digs into wrists when using it (which is why I ended up going for the 15" back in 2014).
