Obviously once we are done in this thread, we will move to a new one called "hello again".

I hope they don't somehow put Kaby Lake in the new machines, the Waiting For Kaby Lake thread would end up being rather short.

I know this is the MBP thread, but what are the thoughts on the Air? Surely they are gonna put in the 7500U right? A.k.a a Kaby Lake chip.

I'm not sure if Small business are eligible for substantial discounts. If you work for a larger organization you can literally walk into an Apple store with your badge/ID to see if you're on The List. Or check your corporate intranet for access to your company specific Apple portal.

God I'm hoping prices don't skyrocket on this new system. I've saved up $3200 for a new maxed out unit with AC (edu discount). Would be pretty upset if I have to spend more then that, but wouldn't put it past Apple.

Prices would need to be coming down in my estimation otherwise Dell XPS still remains favourable

anyone else here wish that the earnings call and macbook pro event traded places? id rather wait 4 days then 7! o_O

I did. Over ebay. Arrived just yesterday. rMBP 15, late 2013, fully loaded. 900£, looks and acts as brand new. Battery is on 98% health (only 52 cycles).

Why did I do that? Look at the price. Look at it again ;)
And then, I didn't plan on buying first gen of new product. No thanks. I already own rMB12, and usb-c is a complete mess at the moment. A complete mess. Not just on apple part, but on everyones part. From caldigit to anker.

So I plan on waiting for another year, then purchasing new MBP. Second gen.
Waiting will be a lot easier with this rMBP15 on my desk :)

Exactly. Some people don't get the angles.

There are basically 3 levels of purchasing a mac product and what type you are.

gen 1 -> gen # -> gen n

usually it's kinda like:

gen 1 -> gen 2 -> gen 3

I buy my Apple products when they are FINISHED, at GEN 3, or GEN N

some guys are early adopters, and they purchase at GEN 1 (and maybe GEN 2 & 3 etc)

then there are others who just buy GEN 2 or GEN # and don't care (college kids etc, they just need and need now)

There is nothing wrong with any of the strategies, depending on your expertise, budget, resale outlook, etc

I have been here in the "Waiting for Skylake Thread" because I wanted to see if the rMBP 2015/15 was finalized and if the MBAir 2015/11 was finalized and it looks like they both were.

So SWOOPY DOOP!

Minimal Bugs, the OS is fine tuned and optimized for my machines and I am almost out. Just gotta kick back and enjoy the EVENT, and get all AMPED UP for the Next 3 years!

Trust me:
didn't by an LC bought an LC II (got a little burned because the III came out)
didn't by a Quadra 700 or 800, got an 840av (got a little burned because the 840 couldn't run A/UX)
didn't by a Quadra 900 or 950, got an AWS 95 (Perfect)
didn't by a Lombard, waited till Pismo
didn't by G3 Blue and Whites, got a G3 Beige right b4 ugliness, and then G4 533/Dual, sold gotta G4 1.25/Dual NOISY!
didn't by G5 (any) till G5 2.5/Quad (love that thing)
bought a Mac Pro 2006 GEN 1 (16GB of RAM y'all) (broke the pattern, but got LUCKY those things are narly)
bought a Mac Pro 2009 GEN 3 ~kinda (smoking)
etc and on and on...

Have fun early adopters, you just wanna dig in, it's gonna be a blast hearing and studying up on all the nuances of Type-C and that DAMN iGPU and dGPU combined crap. Man that's gonna be nuts to hear about, but I applaud you for your bravery, and budget. I do want to get the MacPro 2013 tho I wanna see if these things are really as buggy as everyone says or is it ROOKIE mistakes, I know some of the Higher End Models over heat because they are just loaded, but I am interested in the base $3000 model. We will see, I love Ivy Bridge and TB2...

I need to work... peace out...

Oh God No ! I hope they dont do this ! I am also in to buy the 15" rMBP and I hope they dont delay or stagger their release as far as the 15" rMBP is concerned I hope they anounce and release it both at the same time the 13" and the 15". I wonder though what would be the case ?

I like the current Silver Colour of the rMBP so I guess they would keep the current Silver colour along with the Gold and Pink and Black colour that they may offer. But I am hoping they would keep the current Silver Colour.
It's gonna be sick when Timmy comes out and explains (or whomever) what the hold ups and deals are with these, very interesting!

Apple has never 'explained' delays or ignoring customers. They came out with the MacPro in 2013 after 3 years with no updates like nothing happened. Seems like they're going to be doing the same thing next Thursday.

I'm definitely looking forward to a new 15" with dGPU one day :) Although, the one I'm on now is the best computer I even had and works perfectly.

Apart from that, why make the invite so dark and gloomy? I associate to autumn in the colouring at the same time the logo looks a bit like a moon overshadowed by clouds. Or an autumn-apple that's been on the ground for too long. It could also refer to the Apple rising out of the darkness of not updating their computer lines :)

I just don't understand the shading they've done, I guess. Looking forward to the event!

There is silver on the upper left corner, gold right next to it, and shades of pink (rose gold) all over the place. The image just implies the new pro colours.

I'll take the smudges and scratches. It gives macs more character ;)

I wonder if it's possible to repolish jet black aluminum unlike anodized aluminum.
