What do you guys think resale value on the latest 15" rMBP with 2.8GHz / 512GB would be when the '16 rMBP is released?

Assuming mint condition

so you guys have seen the circus. it was just bananas. if i were at intel's board i'd call for impeachment of everybody involved in this bu11sh1t. in fact, what's the superlative of bu11sh1t?

Why do a lot of people think there will be a 16" laptop? Sorry if I missed this part in the dozens of previous pages. Been seeing it a lot here as I wait for the rMBPs to be released.

Check ebay for the value currently, as far as the skylake release, expect the value to drop a couple of hundred, if the skylake variant is a really major upgrade then it mightdrop slightly more. You could still get a better price as it's an apple product but its best to be realistic.

Not necessarily 16 inches but it's revolving around a thinner bezel like the XPS 15

Not much of an expert on thunderbolt and external graphics, but if the next macbook pro has a usb c and thunderbolt 3, would we be able to do this?

If so then I would buy the base variant without the discreet gpu.

As far as I know right now, if you have an external GPU, you can use it on the internal or external display while in Windows, and only on an external display while in Mac OS. However, considering this will be more widespread and accepted by Intel, maybe Apple will go the extra mile and have it work on the Macbook Pro's internal display, even though I guess most people who would use that kind of solution would do it at home and probably leave it plugged on an external display at all times.

Once I saw the announcement of the Razer Blade Stealth I wanted one immediately because of the external GPU, however I'll wait a bit more considering it is only using a ULV Core i7 which isn't all that powerful for gaming, and also because Apple might have USB Type-C / Thunderbolt 3 on their next Macbook Pro revision with the same kind of e-GPU support. (fingers crossed)

I would definetly buy that Razer, but the logo at the back screen just looks like a sticker a douchebag could put in the back of his tuned car. I work with people, can´t give them that image.

That said it's like the retina macbook, but cheaper and better.

Do you mean the Blade Stealth? Because its specced lower than an rMBP in virtually every category.

The Razer Blade QhD+ has a slightly higher resolution, and a better graphics card of course, but the SSD and CPU are still thrashed by the Macbook Pro.

Used buyers don't care about condition as long is it cheap and it works. Have sold multiple Macbook Pros and the ones I get the most from are always baseline configuration.

I am also considering a buy strongly now but I will wait up till the end of the very next week.
Please apple, give us some news

It's rather bad news that there's not a single Iris Pro 580 model even announced as yet. I had hoped that Intel would have done so by now at CES. GT4e integrated graphics is a game changer for Intel and I would have expected them to at least have a PR blurb when it was announced. Instead, all that's happened so far is a silent release of some lower end Broadwell/Skylake parts that will never go into MBPs .

I think it's safe to say that we aren't getting any updates until at least March, more likely June with this lack of news.
I think I'll take this opportunity to try something new, maybe the SurfaceBook, to see if it works for me.

Grrrrr.... (long time lurker here...). I purchased a 15" rMBP loaded for $2499 at the Apple store. I have 4 days left to return, which I plan to do, since Best Buy and other sellers have a decent deal going on. I don't have an urgent need for the laptop right now, but I am having a hard time parting with the device, and waiting for the updated rMBP, it's such a fun laptop to use! I don't think I could go back to Windows (for personal use) even with the lower cost and updated chips.

Source????
For dGPU units thats likely what'll go in them, and they aren't available until March or April LOL.

I decide to actually give in and go to Apple for once and I'm stuck with the waiting game or risking it with a purchase today and having them announce something in 3 days.

I feel for you guys who've been waiting months on end for the update. :(

I already decided to return my unit to the Apple store (going to wait until the 13th day), so now I'm committing to wait! :( I can play with my daughters MBA, and teach myself SWIFT until the new laptops arrive! :)

Hopefully your patience is rewarded. :D I'll be dealing with resale it looks like haha. I'm just hoping that I don't get burned by Apple in a day or two.

Razer said that their razer core works with other laptops that have thunderbolt 3.
Now it's getting interesting
