Yeah, I don't understand what this MBA update is going to be. Is it going to be cheaper than the 12" MB? Is it going to have a retina display? Is it going to be significantly thinner than the 13" MBP? I don't really see where it could fit in, even considering multiple possibilities. But we'll find out...
It sounds like a refresh, not an update. So it's likely to just be the introduction of USB-C and removal of other port types.
Unless with all the confusion Apple are going to have a 13" MacBook and MacBook Air!

i hope for this Mac line up:

12" rMB
13" rMB Air
13" rMBP non-Oled (really unlikely, but I really hope so)
13" rMBP OLED
15" rMBP OLED

13 inch macbook? i might consider this.

since Kuo said the mbps will have the same resolution but better efficiency, I exepct at least 12 hour on the 13 inch and 10 hour in the 15 inch.

Interesting no word about P3 gamut, though. I hope that's just a given at this point. There's no way they have an iMac, iPhone, and iPad with P3 and not have it on the MBP.

the new MacBooks are thinner so less physical battery meaning that even though processors are more efficient, I expect the same battery life as the current gen.

Disappointed we have to wait until next year for the new TB display.

My credit card is breathing a sigh of relief :D

I think it gets it. It mentions "better quality". Wide colour gamut it the new retina I think, It will get rolled out across the lineup (apart from the Macbook Air which will keep its screen from ten years ago!).

actually this is what I think is going to be the prices on the 15in.

base: 512gb
base+$300: 1tb
base+$600: 2tb

what do you guys think?

They'll keep it at $800 to go to the high end storage.

Same here. I can stash $1k till early next year. It will be good to also give time for other TB3 monitor/dock solutions to pop up and hopefully give Apple some decent competition.

I'm with you on this. I want a beast of a machine that is a real desktop replacement and not a desktop accessory. My biggest concern is the dGPU and Apple going with a dated rebrand then something that is actually new. I want to see at least 4gb of vram but would prefer 8.

I don't upgrade often and want it to last a long time before I see my computer can't run stuff.

My dream Pro would be:
17" 4K display
Intel 6970hq
64 Gb ram
2tb Ssd m.2
Nvida GeForce 1080m

But that won't happen but would without a doubt get one without a second thought and I would be solid for another 8+ years.

Lmao. I'd love my laptop running at a cool 350 degrees Fahrenheit and only getting 3 hours of battery life

wait I am hearing a lot of great things about HDR right now in TVs. people compare standard TVs like painting with 12 crayons and HDR TVs are like 148crayons.

is the wide color gamut and p3 the same thing?

2TB SSD option is interesting... I'm hoping that means it will be based on Samsung's brand new (and wicked fast) 960 Pro NVMe drive. Also bodes well for 512GB as the base on the 15".

"Wide gamut" would encompass a color space like P3, yes. Wide Gamut can also mean AdobeRGB, Rec. 2020 (for HDTVs), etc.

HDR is a bit more than just wide color support, it also brings along with it (much) higher peak brightness levels. It's unlikely the new MBP would have an HDR-spec display, but I'd say P3 gamut support is almost a given.

If this does it happen I'll most likely wait a bit after they come out to save up for the 1tb lol. I really hope it's only $300 more

Oddly the SSD controller on that Samsung drive was codenamed Polaris :) But yes.. they're amazing, I doubt it would be a 300$ upgrade though, it's a £200 upgrade in retail between 512 and 1tb so with Apple tax... :/

Ming rumors:

  1. Finally! First time we have rumors that it really is a Skylake processor we are waiting for.
  2. Too bad it's the same panel resolution, I wanted at least 2100x3360. :(
  3. 2TB option!! Hopefully, 1TB is a lot cheaper.
  4. Similar processor as Apple Watch to control the touch bar is interesting.
  5. Hopefully, that MagSafe-like adapter is included.

Surprised to see info on a Saturday but not sad about it.

Can't wait till Thursday....feels good to not have to add a date anymore.

PS: not worth the time to read the comments of the disillusioned.

Lol, I know. That is funny

Right now I get maybe 5 minuets and the fans are almost always on so it would still be a improvement for me.

Will be ordering a 15" and will mostly be using it for photo editing, video editing and with a variety of other Adobe apps.

Would 16GB of RAM be sufficient? Some of my video work may be with 4K files. Also plan on keeping this for a long time. My current laptop is six years old.

A dGPU will be a better investment for 4K editing than more RAM.

Apple has an interest in selling small SSDs to customers so they sign up to the cloud storage. There's probably going to be a 13" version with 8GB RAM/256GB SSD (like the current 12" MB, and replacing the cMBP) while the 15" will start with 16GB RAM/512 GB SSD.

1TB: +$600
2TB: +$1200

If the 1tb is only $600 more than the 512, and the 512 becomes the default I would be really happy. That would be like a $400 decrease from the current 1tb

how much do you think the base 256gb/8gb ram new 13in MacBook Pro going to cost?
