I wonder what's the best / fastest way to order? Through Apple.com or the Apple Store app or calling?

I heard in the past that using the app was much quicker pre-ordering the Iphones in the past.

Regardless what you use. Here's a few tips.

1) have your credit card saved on your account. Makes checkout much, much quicker. With that said, enable 2 factor authentication.

2) Have a general idea what MacBook you are going to get. Less time looking at different options, better chance you'll get it quicker.

3) If you are going to use the app, get familiarize with it to make launch day much quicker.

4) (and most important) Make sure all your billing & shipping information is correct.

I wasn't planning on buying an iMac but plan on getting a MacBook Pro. I can say I am really sad if they don't come out with a new upgraded iMac for those wanting and needing one. I have had 3 iMacs in the past and am content with my Mac Mini from 2009 that I hacked it to be able to run Sierra (woot woot). Also my neighbor Patrick gave me the Mac Mini a few years ago for free with a dead hdd in it so I bought a $69 SSD and a used 27" Samsung Screen for $30 that was broken and I fixed it. So I have a Mac Mini and screen for less than $100 that to me runs better than my iMacs that I had in the past with HDD's built in (my Mac Mini being packed with an SSD).

The Kabylake chips for the iMac aren't available there's no point in updating them until they are.

I got to say, if a Kabylake Macbook Air 2016 is released, might favour it against the Skylake rMBP's, unless these magic bars really appear to be useful...

If Air doesn't have touch ID though, and Pro's do, then Pro's it will be 100%.

FYI, Intel doesn't have any plans to bring GT4e to Kabby Lake until late 2017 if not 2018. The roadmap shows Skylake quad core with GT4e alongside the lower iGPU Kabby Lake parts. That means we probably won't see another high end iGPU MBP/MBA until 2018.

EDIT: Airs use Intel U doesn't it. I guess they might get Kaby lake in Q1 2017 but we won't see a rMBP upgrade anytime soon.

Can't believe it's finally the week to end all weeks! Took my girlfriend around Best Buy Sunday as she needs to eventually get a new laptop. Her current laptop screen is holding on by a single grey wire :D. I unfortunately lost her to the Surfacebook, at least she chose a great Windows computer.

While I was there I also played around with the MacBook keyboard again, I type very hard so I found my finger tips hurting, however I was able to type much more accurately. I really hope they go for a hybrid type keyboard, I think the average of the current RMBP keyboard and MacBook keyboard would hands down be the best on the market.

Ubuntu-based new Windows which would go with it (which is far-fetched but not entirely impossible, since they've been trying to integrate with Ubuntu recently).
MacOS's superiority is greatly due to the smart choice of having started with a Linux core.

Technically a BSD core, but yeah, a Surface Pro with first class Linux support would be amazing.

The 21" iMac is on Broadwell, so you could make an argument that you could offer a Skylake based iMac, including dGPU for that model

Just be prepared for the weird USB-C ports. I've had the MBr for a while, and although it's the best machine i've owned (and i've owned them all), the port is.........well, you'll see

Yeah what's up with that port? It only really hit me this week how annoying it might be!

I agree completely. USB-C is gonna be 'fun' for newcomers. Especially those who love to use dongles, docks, hubs, etc.

My mackbookPro story/history...

Late 2011, 4GB RAM, ?320GB HDD... got the hi-res screen -- a whopping 1680 x 1050.

It has been holding up very well until 2016 -- considering its one of the dGPU issue machines.

Summer 2012: replace HDD with 120GB SSD, and up RAM to max 8GB

Fall 2014: I hear about a new rMBP in the works... start to dream...

Spring 2016: I bemoan my choice in SSD's -- too small. Replace with 250GB SSD.

Summer 2016:
Daughter jumps off couch, onto my closed laptop. Screen cracked. Replaced by local cell-phone repair. They could not re-glue the bezels, so I have packing tape holding them on.

Summer 2016: dGPU dies... finally. Just in time to get free repair from Apple (the warranty repair ends this Dec). New logic board.

Fall 2016: battery stops holding a charge, replaced by apple (~ 200$)...

Fall 2016: charger cable finally breaks. Why don't they make BOTH ends of the cables on the little white puck insertable...

So now I have a machine that only has the original keyboard, and outer shell and trackpad... literally everything else has been replaced.

Thursday cannot come fast enough!

As many of you have posted, this thread has been an epic adventure in 'group-pain'... but it has helped the insane wait.

If Apple pulls a 'iPad 3-like' refresh early next year with some new version, we will have another 'group-pain' moment!
