I think it's fun seeing all of the old warriors showing up in this thread after having duct-taped their 8-yr old laptops so they could last until now. Respect!
I agree, and yet I really want to believe the part that says the 15" models will come with 32gb RAM as standard. Somebody stop me from drifting towards the clickbait light...

The 32gb RAM is indeed nice, but in my opinion the top model 15" should have a 1tb ssd
damn it. I thought grandmas were always the most reliable. lmao.
It'll be $200 from Apple. You can buy the battery for $40 off Amazon, but the risk of damaging the trackpad ribbon cable is too great for me to go that route.
Actually, about that USB-C post I made earlier. The problem with the MBr is that it only has a single USB-C port, so I end up with an adapter to be able to charge it at the same time. But these MBPs have multiple ports, so you would only need new cables, which are around $6 US, which isn't that bad. In other words, no need for adapters (except maybe TB, ethernet). But then again, I don't know what it's going to be like.
Bring on those hidden references to, um, no ports?
I'm hoping for 32 gb RAM and 2TB ssd.
Anyone know if these should be available for in store pickup? Even if I decide to get a customized one? I'd rather not leave it up to the mailman to put it by the mailboxes in my apt and have it possibly stolen

I'm calling bulls*it on this right now just because there is no way the 15'' will bring 32Gb of ram as base config neither the Air will bring 4Gb when Apple has alreaddy discontinued that model earlier this year and placed 8Gb as standard all round their lineup.
OK. What about 2 x Xeon 18 cores and 4 nVidia Titan (Pascal flavor) on top of that!?
And max 1 kilo, no less!

So do you guys think the 6870 is that much of an improvent over the 6770? I'll probably max out ram and only need a 512 gb hard drive at max. Maybe even 256 if 512 isn't included. And get the dgpu.
Do you guys the 6870 is worth how ever much it's going to cost to upgrade? Will be using VMware for windows and revit. Don't play any games.
Also does AppleCare cover battery replacements if it does get really bad after a few years?

They will if the battery capacity is less than 80% from what I've heard.
I bought and returned my 2016 rMB last week after buying it just to alleviate the waiting process. Out of the box was Yosemite and I upgraded to Sierra. When I returned it they didn't even bother checking the laptop physically and "software-ally", they took no glance and just took it back.. I was actually surprised on how no inspection was made.. what if it was broken and dinged... got my money back in a heartbeat. OF course YMMV but from the looks of it they don't really care what OS you have it on
They replaced my mid-2009 MPB battery (luckily two months before AppleCare ended on it), but I remember the tech there saying it was only because I had some specific error message/code. So YMMV
And I'm finally caught up... 2 weeks off and it takes almost that long to catch up. I'm just glad work has been slow.
Just in case the mods shut the thread in the panic after Thursday, I'd like to thank @ThisBougieLife @volcomvenom @killawat @Uni Grad @Dydegu and @WRONG (and his poor liver) for keeping this thread entertaining as well as informative. I'd forgotten how fun and ridiculous forums could be. I've been reading since about page 70.

Someone said Christmas is coming early a while back in this thread. I didn't realize they meant Christmas 2028!
The 6870 should be standard on the "mid" config so you won't need to pay extra for it. I mean, you will, but it's baked into the extra dgpu and storage. I wouldn't pay extra for it though.
Anyone else really sad if theres no 3.5mm jack on the pro...
