And I'm finally caught up... 2 weeks off and it takes almost that long to catch up. I'm just glad work has been slow.

Just in case the mods shut the thread in the panic after Thursday, I'd like to thank @ThisBougieLife @volcomvenom @killawat @Uni Grad @Dydegu and @WRONG (and his poor liver) for keeping this thread entertaining as well as informative. I'd forgotten how fun and ridiculous forums could be. I've been reading since about page 70.

A special shout out to Serban and Oppenheim as well for bringing a whole new meaning to the word 'special'.
And don't forget to recognize @adildacoolset for their original post back on page 1. 36 likes on that post so far - we can do way better.

To those who have experience... I'm currently on a 15" rMBP and plan to return it within the 14 day period after the Thursday keynote... I'm just wondering though, do I have to return it in the same OS version? Or can I upgrade to Sierra?

No you don't have to worry about keeping it the same version. They'll wipe it soon as they get it off you anyway.

In Serban we remember. RIP my bad-leak friend.

Some more rumors, I didn't see this posted here, so just in case...

Thanks for bringing the entertaining speculation. Like others, I'm calling "bogus" on this too. I would be stunned if Apple made 32 GB of RAM standard in the 15" MBP. Sure, one could dream, but there is no way Apple would spend more than they have to and pass up the opportunity to collect their Apple tax for a RAM upgrade, which most of us pros will have to do.

As for the SSDs, I would not be surprised if Apple made 512 GB standard on the upper-end configuration and then offered upgrades to 1 TB and 2 TB. I would estimates those upgrades (from 512 GB) to cost $400 for 1 TB and $1,299 for 2 TB. Of course, those upgrades should be cheaper, but Apple will want to boost their profit margins and since they design the MBPs the way they do, we're all pretty much stuck.

As for me, I'm a professional photographer/videographer that only uses my MBP when I'm on the road. I will get the 1 TB upgrade, but will not touch the 2 TB upgrade since I can easily add Samsung T3 externals if I need more space in the field or an OWC Thunderbay Mini RAID 5 if I'm on a big/lengthy assignment. But for my average 3-day to 2-week assignments, the 1 TB internal SSD will work fine for my daily processing and I can use externals to push the data to from there.

What's interesting is that they don't offer any memory upgrades on any of their 15" pros. Likely makes it easier for inventory as they would just store 3 different logic boards (based on proc speed) and then throw in the SSD based on the order requested. I could seem them doing the same thing again to simplify their ordering process. 32G base. The cost savings of simplifying their inventory process as well as the attractiveness of a 32G base would out weigh any potential sales of getting people to upgrade to 32G.

*duly likes* We should give this post at least as many likes as we have pages here.

2 days, 22 hours and 39 minutes left.

Or 254389 seconds.
I can't believe it's less than three days. I actually keep on checking the front page to be amazed, a bit like waiting for Santa.

Also I smile every single time I see your username. Is it a pun on Rollo from Vikings?

guys it turns out that that the Apple event is at noon where I live. but I usually have class from 12-2 on Thursdays.

today I got an email from my professor saying that he canceled class on Thursday saying that he won't be feeling well on that day. I think my professor has a bigger reason for canceling class... I have a feeling that he might even be lurking in this very thread.

Have the newer MBP's been more reliable? My last two have had critical logic board failures, which has left be a bit nervous about just how reliable these are with the dGPU option. However I'm doing 4k video and photography, so I'd need the GPU boost. It would just be nice to know that they have been working on improving these problems as it has been a problem for quite some time (and multiple generations) now.

I thought about that too, but it just seems too good to be true. I would be pleasantly surprised if Apple went this route. Actually, I would be ecstatic! But as far I'm concerned, we're dreaming.

i have this feeling that i wont be able to order one on thursday im still waiting for my iphone trade in apple gift card

Those cost savings wouldn't come to us though haha. Base 512 GB w/ 32G would probably start at $22-2300.

Does the CPU affect the iGPU? If I want better video (games) performance from a 13in, would memory or CPU influence more?
A faster version of the CPU will give you better iGPU performance, yes. The differences may be minimal, though.

From the notebookcheck link:

CPU GPU Base Speed GPU Boost / Turbo
Intel Core i7-6567U 2 x 3300 MHz, 28 W 300 MHz 1100 MHz
Intel Core i5-6287U 2 x 3100 MHz, 28 W 300 MHz 1100 MHz
Intel Core i5-6267U 2 x 2900 MHz, 28 W 300 MHz 1050 MHz
