Just wanted to write my opinion about the function keys. I think the only reason we have the 12 function keys on the keyboard right now is because they are used for the (volume/brightness/media) control buttons. The fact that Apple chose to hide the function keys behind the fn-key means that they are a secondary feature. Not to mention that it is very hard to reach the fn-key and the top of the keyboard with the left hand.

Now, imagine we can replace the control buttons with something else, like a Magic Toolbar. The advantage of the toolbar is that it is dynamic and can have more than just normal buttons but the disadvantage is that there is no tactile feedback. I've seen many suggestions here that the function keys will be shown on the toolbar when the fn-key is pressed. In my opinion, that is just traditional thinking.

My solution would be to just move the function keys down to the numbers row. Press the fn-key and number 1 for F1, fn+2 for F2 and so on. The zero, minus and equal sign keys can act as F10-F12. I consider this to be a slightly better solution than the current function keys because the number row is lower on the keyboard and therefore easier to reach with the left hand while holding fn.

How much do we think the 2tb sdd upgrade will be?

Ii fear Apple will really hit UK hard with price increases in general following Brexit etc.

I fear it will be brutal for us.

Tbh it may make the difference for me deciding on the new range or letting the prices drop for current MBP.

No way am I gonna blow close to £3000 when I could get the current one for half the price soon.

Just checked the apple online store in Germany: All MBPs are still available for next day shipment. However, if you choose to upgrade to 16GB RAM (13") or larger SSD, shipment is estimated for Nov 2-7th! Would that mean that Apple would continue delilvering BTO the current models after the release of the new models? Or would this be an automatic upgrade without additional costs? Wondering if this could be a bargain...
dude, I have done the same the week or two ago. And the shipments were estimated for 25-27 November.

Fellow Europeans, how soon do newly released Macs arrive in Europe?
the same day when the sales will start

Besides the productivity and photo/video apps, I'm hoping for a gaming demo (both to show off Metal/the GPU and the OLED bar). If Blizzard supports the bar for WoW by putting spells or something cool on it, that'd be awesome.

Yes Blizzard please do that!

The same day as everywhere.

Adding my busted up macbook to the list here, she's served me well these past 8 years! Late 2008 macbook. It's lifespan has been extended via an SSD and RAM upgrades. Even with the upgrades, its been a longggg wait this year for the redesign!

Oh and I also backed over it with my car while it was in my backpack! :D

I admire your patience! My Macbook is 3 years old, perfectly fine, yet I'm afraid I'll be tempted to get a new one next week if there's a big (positive) change.

So ARM processor for OLED bar confirmed? Or what purpose would they have for ARM processor right now?
I've seen this posted somewhere. There is a lot of talk of Mac Mini going the ARM route first, but when? Definitely not this year.

I don't think Apple would offer 2TB option, possibly not even 1TB option.

Why you may ask? I think they want to promote cloud useage (icloud) and on the basis that most people would be happy with up to 512GB, will feel that anyone who does actually need more should buy external storage.

At best, I see them going to 1TB, I would be very shocked if they went to 2TB or even 1.5TB.

This is inline with the rumours earlier about the OLED bar having a Apple Watch type processor, so I guess a separate ARM processor for the Magic Toolbar...

Just makes me wonder how they would make the hybrid connection work though, And I guess this answers the question about where TouchID will be and how the secure enclave will be implemented.

They already offer a 1 tb for the current MacBook pros ...

Yes, I think they may indirectly push the cloud, with smaller then desired storage offerings, but I believe they already offer 1TB ssds now for the MBP, so I don't think those will disappear

They've increased iPhone storage to 256GB despite their iCloud push, so I believe there'll always be an option for enthusiasts.

I seriously think one of the best things they could do is dropping the €0.99 per month for 50 GB. I somehow can't imagine they make SO MUCH MONEY out of this one. And charging for anything above 5 GB, especially with the Documents/Desktop sync is hardly "pushing iCloud".

I personally dont give adamn about 13
But for you all guys sake, i do hope it has 4 usb c ports
I personally never use more than 2 ports, but if one's gonna be used for power, then yes, I might need 3 or more, which will push me to 15". I prefer 13" because of its mobility, using 15" on a plane might be uncomfortable.

Anyway, rumors aside, how will I know the new MBPs will be available in store the next day? I don't exactly live near an Apple store, but am willing to get there before they open if they have the laptops. I don't live in the US either.
Are there going to be queues outside the store, just like the ones in case of iphone launches, probably shorter
