I also need a new monitor (4k or 5K).. What are your plans screen-wise? Wait for a possible new thunderbolt display or opt for e.g. the LG 27UD88?

In the past has the ability to purchase online been as soon as the keynote ends or is it the following day? For example in the UK it'll be 6pm but will I have to wait till 8am the following day (Friday 12am PST) to order

I'm probably going to be let down but I hope apple comes out with a true pro laptop that is above any pc labtop in specs and design. They could charge anything, people would pay 6k. My heart will be broken if they release mainstream intel chips with inferior specs than some pc laptops you can buy already. Apple is losing touch with their customers who will pay any price for the best design and best specs and listening too much to people who whine about the price of a base model.

PC's were always ahead in terns of CPU/GPU specs, hack there are laptops with desktop CPUs inside.
I'd be happy with a sleek design, 512GB SSD, 32GB of RAM and a top tier, quad-core mobile Skylake CPU.

I personally would like an Ultra Wide Apple display; maybe 34"...but would settle on anything with just more connection options.

I don't think Apple would offer 2TB option, possibly not even 1TB option.

Why you may ask? I think they want to promote cloud useage (icloud) and on the basis that most people would be happy with up to 512GB, will feel that anyone who does actually need more should buy external storage.

At best, I see them going to 1TB, I would be very shocked if they went to 2TB or even 1.5TB.
But there's already 1TB option for the actual rMBP. Obiously they are gonna offer it now, and probably more. That would be the reasonable way to go.

PC Mag lists the ten things they want from the new MBPs. I'm with them on a few points, but a few items listed here are just not going to happen, IMO:

I really want built-in 4G but I doubt it will happen. My network operator introduced a new system where I can order up to 9 SIM that share the same data limit with no extra cost. I can get a 20GB/month plan for 239 Swedish Kronor ($27, student price) that is shared on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook.

Oh the models in store and only a few select people can view them pre keynote? 2 ports? You've been wrong in the past on so many things mate

Agreed. If it was possible for Apple Store employees to open pre-release shipments and inspect their contents, there would be photos and videos floating around.

That being said, this poster from China could still have accurate information. But I personally will put zero value on it until hearing independent confirmation.

They tend to bring the store down during the keynote, then when it's back on, you can buy the new stuff right away (even in the UK).
As far as physical stores go, I would expect next day.

I think tethering the phone is good enough - plus you can take calls on the Macbooks without the need of a sim as it stands.

Does the Mac have the same easy tether option with the iPhone like the iPad does? I like that the iPad can find the iPhone as a wireless network without even having to turn on the hotspot.

Never mind, found the answer to my own question and it was yes. BT tethering shows the same.

Dave2D has his preview video up:

There's nothing new, and I suspect he got one or two things wrong (he's claiming Pencil support, for example). But it's a good summary of the current rumours.

I would have loved for Apple to use Nvidia 1050 series :(, but it isn't going to happen.

How useful would a pen really be on a laptop if it can't be used on the screen, I am just trying to imagine using one - and potential use cases.

The user experience when you use a pen should be ink coming from the tip - this tethering of the pen to a screen from the track pad will be an unusual experience I would have thought.

I am just imagine trying to draw something in detail with the pen, staring at the screen while I use the pen on the trackpad, and I just can't see it working well :(. Maybe for the odd signature or rough notes, but that feels like a waste. When you take pen off/on would the cursor move while the pen is hovering above? Because without that, it would be a dead feature.

my first urge when i see that is to put it on a table and put pressure on it till it bends back. you didn't try this?

I'm just happy it's still working as is. I didn't want to risk fracturing any internals bending it back.

mslam02, If the display is curved too don't bend it back. it's nice to have a curved display

Somehow it stayed straight... no curved display bandwagon for me...

That LG is what I've been eyeing, but wanted to hold off and see what Apple has. Though now the rumor is that they won't have it available on Thursday. Bit shocking as they're going to be losing a lot of sales as people aren't going to wait out 6mo for a monitor (assuming it'd be released in March).

It is such a long even that, I would bet money that it won't just be 3 laptops being unveiled. I think there will be quite a lot more unveiled. Not like they can use time to talk about Sierra, as that has already been done.

I am pretty sure the Mac Pro's will be getting an update as well as the iMac. Not sure about the Mac Mini... A new thunderbolt display should also be available.

In the end, they need these products to cater to those who create the apps which drive the iPhone sales right.

Wow, just finished reading that. I think out of those 10 things we can expect 2TB storage and wide gamut colour. Rose gold if we're lucky.

I agree with you @navaira. I would like a matte screen too, but am quite doubtful Apple will bring that back. And, nothing personal to those who want rose gold on their MBP, but I'm hoping against that. Doesn't seem very "Pro" to me, but that's just my opinion. Cheers!
