Ultimately it still comes down to the operating system you prefer, and at this point it's still MacOS to me. I wouldn't expect anything particularly creative coming out of Apple hardware-wise, I mean let's examine the top story on MacRumors:
"Apple to Announce New App Focused on TV Show Discovery at Tomorrow's Event"

It's pretty clear the direction Apple thinks the money is in, and who knows, perhaps on my next round of laptop purchase I'll be more firmly in Microsoft or Google camp.

They don't think, they KNOW where the money is. Have a look at yesterday's report. Service (i.e. Apple Music, App Store, iCloud Drive, etc.) make more revenue than iPad and all Macs combined.

This is exactly it. Microsoft has effectively danced on Apples grave in terms of the creative professional market today and there won't be any kind of a response to that tomorrow.

Apple don't care about that market they demonstrated that when they let the Mac Pro fester. They are firmly in the consumer market now.

Urr is that dial innovation? Seems very similar to the stuff they showed off for the surface table, in 2008... Maybe they've made the thing actually work though, very innovative!

To be honest that just looks like a massive gimmick. I can see it being highly irritating trying to use that on their '0g' hinge, trying to use it and write and having the display move cause of your weight. Off screen functionality looks about the same as a Powermate or similar. Obviously replaying written text will be a huge thing though!

Sounds negative, I like how Microsoft are actually doing something but I wonder who this device is for? I thought it was cool till they said the price, missed the mark a bit. Can't see what it does better than a Cintiq HD. But it's nice they try! It's a nice product but I don't think many serious creatives would consider it, and the price is way too high for consumers I think.

I just hope they stick with it (Or anything) instead of making one off purchases that get buried a few years later.

Yea there's no question that Apple knows how to make cash extremely well. That said, if their hardware is just an avenue to up-sell me on services, then eventually I'll likely pass. I mean, the touch bar is a great piece of hardware to cause users to utilize Apple Pay. 'Hey guys, I know Amazon, Paypal, and other such companies offer payment services, but hell, when a web site wants you to check out all you have to do now is place your thumb on this thing.'

This is all I found so far:

For $2,999, you’ll get 1TB of storage and 8GB of RAM (and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M 2GB GPU GDDR5 memory), together with an Intel i5 chip. An extra 8GB of RAM and a processor bump to Intel Core i7 will cost you $500 extra, while the high-end Surface Studio featuring a 2TB drive and 32GB of RAM (with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 4GB GPU GDDR5 memory) is priced at $4,199.

There was a guy on this forum complaining about base RAM in Macs being to low. Will you please stand up?

Thanks, where did you find that

Surface Studio looks pretty good, great job MS. Now why at the same TDP are we getting 9 series cards and not 10 series cards? This thing is outdated out of the gate...

Surface Pro 4 is definitely umm, upgraded internals.. not sure what else to say about that. Large tablet computers have never been a draw for me, so that's why I am underwhelmed personally.

Surface Book i7 w/ 965M 4GB dGPU, well now. Is this a quad or dual+ht? I didn't see on their product page. If they ditched that idiotic non-closing/unprotective hinge design and cut the 2-in-1 crap (or just had an alternate model with a non-removable yet fully closeable hinge/display) I'd really like this computer.

Anyone else's thoughts on these to give us about 24 hours of pre-game banter?

I really think the Studio is a good design for them and I love the screen ratio for a desktop to get actual work done on (and could skip the 'creator' features personally/in my line of work).

They are announcing a FCP update tomorrow, so I have slightly above normal hopes that they'll throw professionals a bone somehow. Maybe.

I just wish Microsoft would release that monitor as a standalone with a Thunderbolt 3 connection. Two of them would be an instant buy to go along with my new Macbook Pro.

In what way. What have they just released that will make creative professionals leave apple in their droves? The main reason apple doesn't care so much about the mac pro is because there is a really small market for them. Compare the capabilities of the mac pro and laptops when it was popular and there was a massive gulf. There isn't that difference in general performance these days.

Most creatives that I know are happily using macbook pros for their everyday use. Some of them are using mac pro rendering farms or simply outsourcing the rendering to service providers. A top spec macbook pro is a very good machine that you will struggle to tax under most uses.

HAHA I was surprised by Microsoft, come on Apple, show Microsoft what you can do, and hoping that I will get the new pro in store right after the event.....

Any French members here? I'll be in France in November and would like to pick up a new MBP there if possible. Two questions come to mind:

- Is any particular online store better than the others?
- If you order with the British keyboard option, how much time does that add to the delivery?

Ok, so I am pretty sure the new surface book. Still uses a 15W Skylake. SO about the same as this new Air thats coming out. but the air might have kabylake.

'Surface book with performance Base'
There is a different version with the top of the keyboard sticking up more. look at the pics on there. site its really weird. It's like a bulge before the hinge.

Seriously you think a MacBook Pro is a serious replacement for an up to date Mac Pro? Good god, that is absolutely ridiculous.

One question. Tomorrow I won't get home till 50 minutes after the event starts, so do you know if there's anyway I can watch the event from the beggining while it's happening? Cause I don't wanna start watching it in the middle but I don't wanna wait until it ends to watch it full on youtube either.
