That depends entirely on what you are doing.... Who do you think needs the power of a mac pro over a high spec macbook pro?
People swore that iPhone 5S would be their last iPhone. Then came 6...Don't go into tomorrow saying its your last MBP, see what Apple has to offer, and if you are indeed wanting to leave the platform, then put your money on a computer maker that better fits your wants and needs
Do you really think Apple is going to release a MT that is not going to have a normal mode that works with the normal function key programming? Good grief. I can't believe the things people worry about here.
That's my point, wait till tomorrow, but also don't spend a 1,000 to 2,000 dollars on computer that you know will be your last from a given manufacturer. That to me doesn't seem like a good use of money.People swore that iPhone 5S would be their last iPhone. Then came 6...
I wonder how they will change the good old alt-cmd-esc combination with the new Magic Toolbar.
Depends. I wanted just 16GB RAM instead of 8 (on a 13"), it took 3-4 weeks which I didn't like so I just went with 8GB. I also opted for 1 TB SSD instead of 512GB, that option didn't effect the shipping time (immediate)How long did we have to wait on previous major MBP releases before a BTO ships?
Not sure what your friends are doing, but I own the rMB and use it every day. No keyboard problems at all. It's a joy to use. Perhaps I'm a special use case because it drove me absolutely insane how wobbly keys were with the old scissor mechanism. I can't tell you how many times I pressed a key and got no response because I'd pressed the side of the key. When they talked about the butterfly mechanism during the MacBook keynote, I knew I had to have one.Yep, is does make sense. And unfortunately this seems to be a known problem as all their keyboard were exchanged without a problem.
However, I know 6 people who own a rMB. All of them had the keyboard exchanged at least once, 2 people even have the 3rd keyboard and one unlucky guy has the 4th keyboard.
In the end, it's just a matter of time until the keys get stuck after the warranty period and that's the point where it gets not only annoying, but also expensive.
Apple even made a guide on how to clean this keyboard with canned air, but that didn't seem to help for any rMB owners I know.
If they just put the same keyboard in the new rMBP, I'm not buying it, no matter how good the rest of it is.
Personally I use macs because they are the platform that runs MacOS. I regularly use Macs, Windows PCs and Linux boxes. MS could announce a pocket-sized supercomputer that powers itself using the lunar cycle and I still wouldn't buy it, because I hate Windows with a passion.Hi guys.
I've been reading this topic for over a year, and today is the first time I felt the need to make an account.
Sadly, the reason for this is not the MacBook, but actually Microsoft's keynote of today.
A little background on me: I'm a PhD candidate at Harvard, have a Bachelor of Science in Medical Informatics and I'm an MD. I use my rMBP for about 9 hours a day now (research) and my keyboard broke 4 months ago. Fixing it is >500 USD, so I couldn't wait for the keynote tomorrow and was planning on getting the new rMBP. I have 'converted' at least 5 people to switch to Mac from Windows, but I'm just not so sure anymore.
Despite that, yes, I have my reservations about the new keyboard, the (gimmicky) magic bar etc. But I'm sure I wanted the new MacBook tomorrow.
When I saw the Keynote of Microsoft today though, it really made me question my motivation for Apple. I'm just loyal to them - I had 3 MB's before, had every iPhone, have 2 iPads, etc. And it would make sense to get a new rMBP. But do they still deserve my loyalty though? There's no more innovation. They aren't what they used to be. When you had an Apple product, you just knew you had the best out there. Today, after that keynote, I'm not so sure anymore. You can state that other products are more expensive etc, but the price doesn't matter that much to me. There's no innovation anymore at Apple. And I'm not sure why I'm still so loyal to them, apart from being 'stuck' in their ecosystem (I even have an @icloud.com e-mail as my primary e-mail).
It doesn't matter, for now, because tomorrow I'm going to order the new MBP. But I don't see it as my 'next' MBP. I really consider this my 'last' MBP, unless they come up with something really good within the next 3 years. I can't justify not considering other, and maybe even better, alternatives out there anymore. The argument used to be 'it looks better', but other products look at least just as good now (if they don't catch fire at least haha). The argument used to be 'it just works', but Windows 10 also 'just' works great and I have 0 problems using it when I am.
Apple was always so superior. And they're slacking. And while they are stagnating, others are improving.
Tomorrow, I'll probably buy my last MacBook. It kinda feels like the last night together after you're breaking up with your beloved girlfriend, but you have good reasons to break up because there is more out there for you and she's holding you back. I hope Apple proves me wrong in the coming years, but they're losing me. And unless they convince me (and I guess others with me), a few years after this last MacBook I'll switch to Android + Windows. It seems like they are working hard for it and deserve it.
Lol agreed. So many people in this forum think photography or video editing comprises the whole sphere of "Professional" tasks...Of course it does. The professional market doesn't start and end with editing video in final cut.
Apple might have no interest in VR but it would nice if they made a computer that stood a chance of any kind of support.

Indeed, and like times before, I have enjoyed and lusted after their products, so hopefully that trend will continueTomorrow is the great day (the "D-DAY") and Apple will show its machines to contrast Microsoft's products.
If tomorrow is D-day, then which side are allies/axis? Is Microsoft the Nazi, or is Apple the Nazi?In the last couple of years Microsoft showed to be innovative, today I liked their new line. The Surface is very beautiful and versatile, Apple now has to fight them. Tomorrow is the great day (the "D-DAY") and Apple will show its machines to contrast Microsoft's products.
The fight seems very interesting... Please Apple don't disappoint us.

I believe so, and there's no chin, as the motherboard and components are in the basewait are the surfacebook bezels so much smaller than the leaked macbook pro? So many people crying about that yesterday but to me they seem the same. what do you guys think?
Take 90 seconds of your time and read a few pages in this thread. This has been discussed a number of times. Seriously, I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that the same question keeps coming up over and over again.
Hi guys.
I've been reading this topic for over a year, and today is the first time I felt the need to make an account.
Sadly, the reason for this is not the MacBook, but actually Microsoft's keynote of today.
Consider yourself lucky then... A little Google search told that it's a quite common problem. Even the guys at 9to5mac had to deal with stuck keys after a short time (they wrote about it in their 2-month-verdict).
I've been following this thread since June of 2015. I apologise if I missed it when this was discussed in the past few days but you could have honestly just answered my question in less than 90 seconds or rather just leave me hanging.
Yep, I'm with you here. I'll max out this one, as it's the only way to get some performances and for it to last a while, and then I'm done with this.Tomorrow, I'll probably buy my last MacBook.
Again, let's be INSANE for a second here and imagine a world where Apple released a Skylake version when the Skylake processors were released, and a powerful Kaby Lake when those are released.I don't want to explain concepts like why current Kaby Lake processors are inferior to the Skylake processors in the new MBP to the uninitiated.
Whatever new thing will be there, will be copied by a more performant PC 3 to 6 months after.Don't go into tomorrow saying its your last MBP, see what Apple has to offer
coming up with are silly at best - who was asking for a battery-sucking LED strip to replace function keys?
