What sort of configs are people gonna get? I figured in the 13" realm the only upgrades worth considering are ram and ssd upgrades. Anyone recommend the CPU spec bumps?

Just posting this again, just in case anyone missed it.

For anyone who has used or knows about the American Express 1 year extended coverage, do I have to purchase the MBP and Apple Care together at the same time or can I purchase the Apple Care from another provider? Just wanted to clarify before tomorrow.

Also, when people were talking about loading up their CC information so they're ready to order, they just meant to the Apple Store/iTunes account right?

Sorry for all the silly questions, this is my first big purchase (still a poor college student) so I'm trying to get everything right!

I'll go for 15". Specs: 32Gb RAM, dGPU, 1TB SSD, and dont know about the CPU maybe I'll stick with the top preconfigured one, dont wanna pay 300€ for 0,3 Ghz more.

The most important for me is the 32Gb RAM and 1TB SSD (professional video editing).

If I can't get that for less than 3000€ I'll probably go for the Dell XPS, wich has all this for 2750€.

This will be my first Mac, I've used them at school, work, friends and gf, but allways owned PC machines.

RAM(Up to 16)>SSD>CPU would net the greatest amount of benefit

Im going for the 15 inch, middle range cpu, igpu, 16 gb ram, and hopefully 1tb ssd if its not too expensive. If not I'll just stick with 512

The word "Pro" has been rather cheap at Apple recently. I was seriously expecting to see an iPhone Pro which would be absolutely ridiculous naming, but wouldn't surprise me.

*pets trackpad* my sweet 2015 rMBP, you're still latest and greatest for 8 hours and 42 minutes. Enjoy your crazy life on top before it ends. Go out, have a drink with @WRONG, just don't catch anything in the Red Light District.

*pets thread* you had a great ride my friends, and I will never forget you for at least two days after the keynote. Shall we all meet in "Waiting For Kaby Lake" thread?

Hahah....have been looking at my 2015rmbp and thinking pretty much the same thing....she doesn't have a clue that her life is about to be cut short....poor thing, but it's not her fault she was loaded with oldass-****! :p

15", 2nd from top CPU, iGPU only, 32GB Ram (if available) and 512 minimum SSD. Depends somewhat on cost - especially taking into consideration the 'Australia Tax' we have to pay on everything. Can only go as far as A$3700.

Hi all,

First time poster from Australia. Just thought I'd share what I was told by an Apple rep in Melbourne. Asking about the Macbook that we all know will be announced tomorrow, he said that if there was to be a laptop announced, it wouldn't be available for a few weeks.

So maybe this is just Australia, but looks like we're going to have to wait a bit longer than the US if you guys get it straight away!

LOL. How did you identified her as a she? :D
Never noticed a rMBP with some "extra Dongle's" out there. Just the regular ports. o_O

I honestly don't know why more people aren't excited about having no dGPU in the MBP, to make it run cooler and for longer, and help it be be made smaller, cheaper and lighter, and then use an eGPU at the office/studio/gaming location when you need maximum grunt. Seems like the best of both worlds to me.
Because you will pay the same price for lower performance? And I have brodwell macbook pro 13 and belive me, iris is far from running cool.

It would be cheaper, obviously, and if you need extra GPU grunt, you can add an eGPU. That's the point - the people who don't need it shouldn't pay for it. The people who do can add an eGPU and get far better performance than they would from any dGPU.

You're also not stuck with old GPU technology in the laptop if you just upgrade your eGPU.

It's difficult to see any significant downside.

Here is a question, given that Apple are usually underpowered computers, is it ok to keep your laptop running at maximum with fans going like crazy and CPU reach 90C(194F) or is this a formula to destroy your laptop?

This kind of thing happen with playing HD games and encoding in HandBrake

Man, my GPU performance increase is going to be off the charts going from a 2012 cMBP to a 2016 15" MBP, even if the pre-built 512/16 is iGPU.

look at mine:

This thing was retarded day 1 I bought it, when I played WoW on it, the fans sounded like it was going to launch a nuclear missile.

First post. Occasional lurker from the very beginning of the thread. I'm not really a pro user and the rMB is pretty much what I need but the price has been unacceptable so far. Thought I'll just wait for the new MBPs to see what happens to the price of the rMB, and here we are +1 year later.

Back in 2010 I was waiting for the Arrendale MBP but jumped ship and bought a Lenovo T410s and eventually a 2010 MBA. This time I kept waiting and I really hope they will also show something new and decent in the lower price range as well as the new MBPs.

I am thinking a 15" dGpu; highest 'non option' CPU; 16gig (32gig if not crazy money); 1tb SSD (if not crazy money); I have a TOP budget of £2.5k. Though it sounds like I might need to include some dongles in that price as well so combine with GBP price increases, it will be close.

My current MacBookPro is coming up to 5 years’ service and I want to retire it whilst it’s got dignity, but the new one needs to last the same time.

Does anyone know if Thunderbolt 1 products will require dongles to work? I have launch day thunderbolt display which is really showing its ages as the connector wire is fraying and playing up. Plus I have a much loved thunderbolt hard drive tower.

Really tempted to get a new monitor as well...I do like the LG 38" ultra-wide would the new Pros play nice with it? (it is usb-c??)

gees possible expensive month....
