I'm in the uk but thankfully got a busy day to take my mind off waiting!
I might not even be home to watch it live, at least I can stream it soon as I get home and see how much of a raping my bank account is going to get :(

Just spent the last couple hours catching up on the thread (yet again).

So today's the big day... hopefully Apple comes through and gives you guys everything you've been hoping for!

See you on the other side.

Americans can just wake up and watch the keynote, we Europeans have to suffer from the excitement all day long to finally watch the keynote at 7PM. You lucky bastards
I think it's perfect here. I finish work at 5pm giving me just enough time to pedal back home, get changed, make my tea then sit down and watch the event at 6pm.

Noticed something strange on the Apple Store online.
Yesterday (like everyday in my useless life) I've faked to buy a BTO mbp 15 (maxed CPU and ssd) and the shipping date was something like 4-11 November (1st of November is holiday here).
Today, the same configuration is given 1-3 working days.
The standard configuration is available tomorrow (or today for pick-up in store).
Well, or they have hired a lot of new workers, or they have a lot of already maxed out pros waiting, or something strange happened, or I'm just wasting my time (like everyday in my useless life).
Any thoughts?(please don't judge my life)

You are completely useless and have no life.

*goes to Dutch Apple store to check BTO configurations*

WE are completely useless and have no life.

3-7 Nov here.

I think the delivery dates are useless to predict anything. For the sake of fairness, Apple should not ship any of the old Macbooks today. But some will arrive tomorrow if you order now.

4-8 Nov in the UK, I imagine the new BTO models are going to get delivered at the end of November.

They should really call up people and ask them if they would like to switch to the new model that come out, but that would cut into profits.

It would be cheaper, obviously, and if you need extra GPU grunt, you can add an eGPU. That's the point - the people who don't need it shouldn't pay for it. The people who do can add an eGPU and get far better performance than they would from any dGPU.

You're also not stuck with old GPU technology in the laptop if you just upgrade your eGPU.

It's difficult to see any significant downside.
I see significant downside - price of eGPU solutions (this enclousers have insane price) and also takes more space. Also I don't understand whats the problem of coexisting both solutions.

Shortly after the release, whether that is today or another media event

We'll just in case I don't get a chance to post later on (I'm on holiday currently) I just want to say thanks to all those involved in making this thread so special

I'm kind of envious of you guys as I pulled the trigger on a cMBP four months ago, it's not a decision I regret as I needed one then, but even after that purchase I still kept coming back to this thread....

It's been emotional

I'm still curious what @WRONG is going to be drinking with me...

I was drinking Mojito, but not too much. It's cold here.
Whiskey is better.

Wired is wrong

Wasn't I already Mark Gurman and Serban?
Now I am also Wired?
Damn!

You guys really need to get a life.

No.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I have a guest coming tonight at 7pm (exactly when the keynote starts). She's only in Amsterdam until tomorrow morning. I can't move the visit. I also can't tell her "why don't you sit here and read a book while I watch this Apple event".

I AM CURSED.

:D
Give her drugs and let her sleep on your couch while you watch the event.

LOL I have your same GPU. Our performances are going to "Insanely better"
Love it.
And that's just iGPU.
Can't wait to have my hands off the dGPU!

So we almost did it friends.
6 hours to go.
I'll try to follow you by work.
Hope they will not fire me.
:D

And I'm not even mad if this means better products.
I'm not gonna lie, the surface line-up is way more interesting than the apple line-up at the moment.
But hey, just few hours and we will know, I mean apple used an "historical" slogan for this event, the least that I can expect from this is an historical moment for apple computers (even just for the iMac if they prefer) rather than a camouflaged spec-bump.

@maflynn @OllyW guys, please, can we keep this thread open until Friday.

You know, the "waiting for broadwell" thread was never closed after 13" mbp were updated, why the tough luv here?

I don't know if @OllyW responded as your post is several pages behind now, but I'm ok with leaving it open for a short period. We did that for the Haswell thread as well, if memory serves me.
