I'm following this thread für month now. Finally it seems that there is some movement at Intel that there 15 Watts i7 with Intel Iris Graphics 540 becomes available today.

http://ark.intel.com/de/products/91497/Intel-Core-i7-6650U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz

Obviously not the processor to be used for the 13" MBP but a good indication that the 28 Watt version of the i7 is just around the corner which apparently so far hinders Apple to rollout the new 13" MBP.

Cheers

Donnie

The chip in question was launched in Q3 of 2015 according to your link.

Everyone's going on about a March release, but given the number of products already in queue to be released (Apple Watch 2, iPad Air 3, iPhone 5e), how is it reasonable to suggest that Apple will also unveil a new MacBook Pro 13"/15"? Not to mention the rumors in the rMB + MBA sections also claiming new updated models. What, is Apple going to have a fiesta on that date with all these new releases (and another thing, and another thing, and another thing....)?

Yeah, why would Apple want to give the appearance that they're full of innovative new products?

I think what they could do if the Skylake is out for the 13" is just put that in the current version (or redesign) of the 13" at the March event since they released the Broadwell in March '15, and then hold off on the 15" Skylake for a redesign unveil at WWDC since the previous 15" release was May '15.

They don't touch the Macbook until the fall (there still aren't any refurbs) with a Kaby Lake release and maybe a 14" version introduction at September/October event - the Air is then dropped.

A lot of webpages set the intel canyon for second half of 2016.

I can't see another reason for intel to wait than Skylake-H availability.

So... March could be Macbook, rMBP 13 and Mac Mini.

And June rMBP15 and Mac Pro.

So this string has run it's course we have NO new info and everyone is just saying March, no it's June. All we are really doing is playing into folds of Tim Cooks skirt. I will go forward watching for intel's release dates.

Ipad pro comes
Another news about AMD Polaris:
AMD Confirms, Polaris GPUs Will Be Released Before The Back To School Season For Desktops And Laptops
That's interesting, but still unclear when they will be precisely released, and if they will be featured in the new rMBP. At least, not for now. Maybe, if we're really lucky, they will upgraded to Polaris at WWDC.

However,

Oh really Gregory?!
It's not even like you completely give no informations about your top-notebook-processor with top-gpu, part of the CPU series you introduced in september 2014, then announced (delayed) in august 2015, then again shipped somewhere in the Q1 of 2016, but still without any clear detail.
In fact, it's only by 5 months (or even 12, if we want to be honest) that we haven't had any real information about the f*cking Iris Pro 580.

No, you have done a great job of communication, you should congratulate with yourself!
aaaaaaa
iPad Pro has colors.
ipad pro is a joke.

Its an EXPENSIVE giant sketchpad. Nothing more. If only apple wouldve released an app that made them work with OS + full adobe programs then it would be a pro device.

Oh the pic of those animators using them? Apple strategicly did that for marketing. Duh.

I cant imagine a pro designer making something legit to a client using that machine. A sketch maybe?

It may seem like a lot but remember, back at the September event Apple announced the iPhone 6S, iPad Pro, new Apple TV and new Apple Watch colors and bands and they were able to cover all of that and give enough attention to each product. So I'm sure its more than possible for Apple to handle the iPhone 6C (which may or may not be real), the iPad Air 3 (still a rumor at this point), Apple Watch 2 and new MacBooks.

The same logic can be applied to announcing new MacBooks at the June event. Think about it, this June will be the biggest WWCD we've had in a while. They will be talking about iOS 10, Watch OS 3, upgrades to the TV OS and of course the next OS X to follow up to El Capitan. All of those are very major and I'm sure iOS 10 will be a overhaul which will require extra stage time for explanations and demonstrations.

Sense Apple's product line is larger now than it was 2 years ago, I don't see any reason why Apple wouldn't keep the same schedule they had last year.

March: Dedicated to Apple Watch and Macbook lineup

June: Dedicated to the various OS's

September: Dedicated to iPhone and iPad

October / November: Either a quiet update for the desktop Mac lineup or a possible short event dedicated to iMac and Mac Pro

IMO, a March announcement just makes the most sense. People are getting their tax returns around that time, the competition will be launching their own Skylake powered laptops and it follows the trend Apple set last year. The only delay I can see happening is possibly not having an updated 15" until April or May (like last year) due to chip availability. In fact, I'd almost be willing to bet that the 13" will be available first.

i can imagine pixelmator would run great on an iPad pro. I have to admit that the limitations of iOS make it seem unattractive when you could get an MBA for that price.

For the 13" MBP, the following potential i7 SKU has been announced but not yet launched:
http://ark.intel.com/products/91167/Intel-Core-i7-6567U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz
These i5 SKUs have been launched:
http://ark.intel.com/products/91164/Intel-Core-i5-6287U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz
http://ark.intel.com/products/91166/Intel-Core-i5-6267U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz

It's the Iris Pro 580 graphics based SKUs that have not even been announced yet.

I don't really care what you think of the iPad pro. The point is, it's a pro device according to Apple and it comes in colors.

I'm still thinking that Apple will update rMBP in March or at least in June, and there's no exception is going to be with Skylake CPUs.
Do not forget that Intel announced Broadwell CPUs for MBP 15" back in June, so I really don't see Apple coming almost an year later with old CPUs. (yeah, I know, even if that's what happened to Mac Pro...)
It's going to be Skylake, whether March or June.

My 2007 MBP finally became useless around 2012, been using a MBA since, was hoping to get a MBP in 14, but the upgrade from 13 didn't happen, and we all know 15 wasn't a real upgrade either. So here I am in 16, MBP's for sale are 14 tech so not buying in, cash in hand praying for skylake and I will finally buy. Intel has been good for Apple, but the last few years here not so much as far as their pro line of notebooks. If it's broadwell, i'm not in.. I want 32GB of RAM, 2TB of Flash, thunderbolt, USB-C, and Skylake (17 inch screen would be great too)

Let's just admit it - here's the most probable outcome:

The March Event will be the time (at least for 13'')

New Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, Macbook
An all-line update
Comes with iOS 9.3 & OS X 10.11.4
Also the new Education Program

That's it.

Sounds reasonable to me. Say they the event is in the end of march. They announce the new rMBPs. The 13" is available immediately. The 15" you can preorder now but will shipping 30 days later. Something like this maybe.

I'd pre-order it now even if it wasn't shipping for 180 days lol.

A true fanboy, I however will wait and see because if they think they're gonna squeeze another sale out of me by adding a slightly more powerful CPU and nothing more they can **** right off.

It's time for change, it's time for.. USB-C/TB3, NVMe (lol, as if), AMD polaris/Intel Pascal/Maxwell, colour options, improved display (AMOLED?), nice bug-free skylake chip and of course this all needs to be soldered CORRECTLY.

Do you buy every year or something?

Do you buy every year or something?

Bought the 2008 and 2011, the latter has lasted me up until november when it crashed for the third time. I got it restored under the special warranty for botched GPU's and sold it for bout 700 euro (I had previously installed a 512 Gb SSD from crucial). So now I'm working on a replacement windows laptop and it sucks, but if Apple isn't gonna bring their A-game this year I'm just gonna build a productivity rig and buy an ultra slim laptop for class notes.
