Bought the 2008 and 2011, the latter has lasted me up until november when it crashed for the third time. I got it restored under the special warranty for botched GPU's and sold it for bout 700 euro (I had previously installed a 512 Gb SSD from crucial). So now I'm working on a replacement windows laptop and it sucks, but if Apple isn't gonna bring their A-game this year I'm just gonna build a productivity rig and buy an ultra slim laptop for class notes.

Just curious. Just found it interesting that you've felt that Apple's macbook Pro updates haven't been substantial.

CPU and especially GPU wise they **** the bed hard since 2011, soldering was complete *****, their dGPu's are a joke tbh. People are talking about avoiding throttling like it's a normal thing, funnily enough it is a normal thing in non-premium laptops but it shouldn't be in a laptop well above the 2000 euro mark.

That's really something for you to decide, as everyone has different thresholds of how annoying they would find something like this.

If you're fine with using a mouse, feel free to wait until Skylake, bearing in mind that there's still a chance that you'll just be given another 2013 model.

The store the last time I went in told me that they could replace my laptop already and they said it would be for the 2015 MBPr. I told them to fix it instead because I wanted to wait until the 2016 MBPr came out. So they agreed and fixed it but the problem came back and is really annoying. I am still using the computer but the trackpad doesn't always work. I think the wait will be worth it. I wonder if what will come out next.

i would've gotten the new computer and sold it for good bucks when skylake comes out. dude u made a huge mistake... xD

Skyline, isn't that a souped up Nissan Car?

It wouldn't surprise me if a small Nissan would actually cost about the same as a decent Mac :D

It was release April last year, so it isn't that strange. And it was announced much earlier, in my recollection. So the hardware has been frozen for at least half a year before release, so they could work on the software.

Thing is, I'm not surprised because I'm hearing some negative things from colleagues that bought one. One of them mentioned that notifications come in 75% of the time, the other 25% comes in up to hours later. They also mention the sensors aren't accurate, and that the apps are so slow that taking the phone out of their pocket is faster. Or that the watch loses connection with the phone and they have to pair it again.

My colleague's complaints are mirrored by what I'm hearing on podcasts, like ATP.fm.

I was holding off because it's a 1st gen product and after hearing these complaints, I figured I'd skip it. Now lots of people may think the same, and the not-stellar reviews may have been read by Apple too.

Well, let's see if the march event becomes more of a macbook pro event...

It's looking more likley which is encouraging for those of us who have been waiting best part of the year.

Got a question for those of you who have previously ordered MacBooks on day one. Have there been many issues with MacBooks in the initial runs? I remember hearing about issues with screens flaking etc.

Completely agree, I still have my MBP 2011 (early) and the GPU soldering issue hit me too, I got it replaced for free with a lot of arguing and finally an email to Tim Cook got me it replaced before they issued an official recall or extended warranty as they like to call it.

But if the next MBP isn't a substantial work horse as the PRO in the name used to be, I wont be sticking about with Apple as my next main purchase/machine.

Every performance junkie on this forum will have to build a Hackintosh. I already have. In fact the MBP early 2011 17" was the last machine I kept for a long while. Sold it early 2014. Bought a rMBP late 2013, but sold it late 2014. Now I use a Hack and a Macbook 12". No problems except for the setup.
