I'm not sure if I understand that. Did he mean that it's going to be two rMBP 13 versions? One at early 2016 thiner with new keyboard, and then in late 2016 another one completely new re-design also with colours?

Because that's doesn't make much sense for me (unless both early and late rMBP 13 are the same product).

Yes he meant two versions
Maybe because the change of early 2016 is too little

It is not about "who was first", it is about "how rumors work":)

Sounds like you know how rumors work in China:cool:

Feng.com has indeed proved its worth before but it sounds highly unlikely that Apple would develop a new form function only to redo it 6 months later... Maybe I've misunderstood it?

Good news continued!

The one who made the prediction of 2016 Macbook update in feng.com has already successfully predicted the update since 2013, so :apple:

Thanks for the explanation.

In my opinion there is no point for a company to expend resources in a small redesing which is going to last only one generation, just to do another one in a few months later. That's not how Apple works.

The only feasible scenario from an economic point of view, is that they somehow are going to use the Macbook 12 chassis for the new rMBP 13 and they will only change the screen bezel to fit 13,3 inches (not sure if there is enough space) and the bottom cover for a thicker one to fit more ports, battery and cool the 28W CPU.

Yeah actually I'm also very curious, his original word is "transitional product" and the keyboard and screen is only "getting closer" to 12'' Macbook, not exactly the same

It's translation...I mean look:

"First AIR, never mind, the next upgrade, there is nothing to say. AIR will ultimately upgrade the 12-inch, do not upgrade, then performance really flattered."

They can't possibly introduced a redesigned rMBP to replace it 6 months later.

Maybe he means the 13" will get the redesign first but not get the colours until the 15 is ready?

Another breaking news!!!

According to the post on the most famous Chinese Apple forum feng.com (already exposed a lot of REAL rumors)
Yes we have updates of Macbook, Macbook Air, and 13'' Macbook Pro in early 2016
The previous two will get routine updates, nothing special to mention
And the new 13'' Pro is going to be slightly thinner with similar keyboard and screen of 12'' Mabook and longer battery life

And, this is not the end of the story

The most exciting and shocking update this year will be the new 15'' Pro (also with 13'') with a whole new re-design (of course gold and space grey) with hidden keyboard shortcut (could be verified by the patent of 3d-touch on keyboard)
Which will happen later this year

There is no evidence or something for his words
You can choose to believe or not (I don't want to angue, I'm also a bystander)
But it's already the 2nd time that I've seen the similar post on different Chinese websites
The 1st one was post on zhihu.com in Nov. last year
And the two posts can be exactly corroborated

Full of expectation right now... ;)

Seriously Apple and Intel, all I want is a refreshed 15" with a 6850HQ, Intel Iris Pro 580, a 950/960M,and DDR4 RAM. I don't want want a thinner chassis where it throttles and has 6-7 hours of battery life. Not sure why this is the most difficult sh*t to do in the history of tech.

Not questioning your Chinese, just that 2 redesign of the same product line in the same year.....I think my doubts are justified.

Also Kaby lake with Iris Pro is set to 1Q 2017... so what will they use to redesign the late 2016 rMBP 13? Just aesthetic changes and same early 2016 hardware?

It doesn't feel right.

I suppose it will be same story like is with 13 MBP without retina.

13 Inch will get update to Skylake CPUs, GPUs, current RAM, SSD's.

And thats it. It will be offered alongside new versions of MBPr as an entry product.
I think also it will happen to 15 inch MBP without the discreet GPU.

Sounds reasonable

My guess - A slightly improved 13" in March and a brand new redesign in June for the 15" only, with a redesigned 13" to follow (maybe in the Fall.)

This doesn't gel with the benchmark that we're all talking about here. Prototype and unoptimized OS aspects aside, there's nothing "slightly improved" about the performane of this, if it really is the lightly-refreshed 13" rMBP that would hit in March.

Whoa ! Whoa ! Whoa ! So we are saying there will be two updates for 13 inch rMBP in 2016 and there will be only one update for the 15" rMBP and that too will happen in June ?

My best guess:

March - 13" gets Skylake and some other small improvements

June - 15" gets a brand new redesign with Skylake

October - redesign comes to the 13"
