Base non-TB model with 16 gig of RAM in Europa is € 1.939 sorry but no chance in hell. I was fine with the 1.499 $ starting price and exptected to pay ~ 1.700 for the 16 gig version but then I've read it's only 2 thunderbolt ports, no SD card reader and no USB 3.0? Seriously € 1.939 no freaking way and then that stupid butterfly keyboard ==> + 100 € and I can get the top of the line XPS 15 with a quad-core, QHD+ display and 16 gig ram for that.

I have never felt Apple stuff has been unattainable to me.

I own and have owned a lot of it in the past and I have also spent a lot on keeping my work machines mid to top range.

I have money saved for a new MBP, been waiting a long time and I suspected about 1799 for the base 15 - but this has reached beyond. Just where am I meant to find this extra from?

Inflation and exchange rates don't account for this massive hike.

This is greed.

I can't and wont feed it this time.

I might get some flack and flame here but here's a comparison with a laptop I bought few months ago (Alienware 17), when I decided it's too long to wait for these new MBPs when my 13inch retina was stolen on April

Alienware 17 R3
- i7 6820HK 2.70Ghz
- 16GB DDR4 2133mhz RAM (upgradable to 32GB, 64GB, your way)
- 512GB PCIe NVME SSD (upgradable as well, with an additional slot for more storage)
- 1TB 7200RPM drive (upgradable for sure)
- FHD Display (there's a 4K IGZO option but I didnt went for that)
- GTX 980M (outdated now but still better than RX450 no?)

all these for £1599 after discount

now you could argue the Alienware is thick as hell, heavy as hell, and tacky as well to use in Starbucks, in which I totally agree. but take a moment and reconsider this, after comparing with Apple's new 15 inch prices, what do you really want from a Macbook Pro? Do you really distess Windows so much you got no second option other than OSX? If you want a slim, portable yet powerful machine there's tons of choices out there now. Microsoft's event yesterday had provided some really solid options

More like rotten. Because they've had us waiting for so long. And it seems like they still can't hardware from this year.

Seriously, I'm very disappointed in the lack of a resolution bump but 16GB ram max on the 15 inch... I'm actually dumbfounded.

They're using DDR4.

16GB ram max. Late 2016.

What. Like what. Like. Seriously. What. I'm just. What?
Actually to be honest, i have a mid 2012 MBP (non retina) and i put 16GB in it, and i push 10gb usage, but have never really pushed it to the max, i get that some people may use/need more, but think that it should be enough for most people, as well as the SSD can probably act as RAM sometimes. soo it should be good? i hope

The 13" with function keys has a larger battery (54.5Wh) than the one with touch bar (49.2Wh).

Also ,if anyone in the UK wants to order an older model I'd advise you to act soon and buy from a reseller before they jack up the prices to match Apple's new pricing.

yep, i'm sticking with my work-issued 2015 15". Just hope i don't change jobs or get laid off before the Kaby Lake update!

Oh ****ing damn, prices in euro are way too ****ing high! 2000 euro for the base 13 inch with 4 ports what are they smoking god damnit! 4 weeks shipping time too asd;fklajd; j;ljklkl;

240 euro increase for 8gb of ram EXTRA!!!!!!!!!
Pretty sure the euro price includes tax... So it's the same price essentially...

you may not stop whining.

Yes, I agree that the prices are a little ridiculous but I've been waiting for 18 months for this laptop can't back out now. Just ordered the 15" with 512 and 460 Graphics. Having student discount soften the blow a bit. Just a tad.
