I'm considering the New Macbook Pro with Touch bar, but the price is leaving a sour taste in my mouth. Would I be getting a better bang for my buck by going with this refurbished Macbook Pro I found on the Apple site? I would be using it for work (photoshop, sketch, Chrome, and other basic apps). For personal it would be Final Cut Pro (potentially making videos with 4K files), some light gaming, and chrome.

well i knew the prices would be high but wow!!! yet no one is forcing me to buy i guess...

I went for the 15" 2.6 and upgraded to 512gig.

I am now wondering if i should have gone for the 2.7 and upgrade the graphics to the 460 4gig...

my plan is to run the LG 38" not for gaming mostly for work and non professional video editing (for a vblog). would the 460 really make a difference? any thoughts? I should add this would seriously stretch my budget but doable (JUST)

And Kaby Lake is EXACTLY the same architecture with only 200 MHz bump in clocks. They are not different in any way, shape or form, apart from the clocks.

What do you loose by going 2015? Nothing at all.

You lose about 7%. After making loyal fans wait so long, making those customers take a 7% hit in performance while increasing prices as much as they did is a slap in the face.

400€ more just for an OLED bar and with the same base ram and ssd, and increased prices for the old models with the same specs?
What a disappointment.

...and less weight, and smaller form factor, and faster graphics, and 4 x TB3, and brighter screen, and wider screen gamut.

To Apple's defense, they did advertise the non-touchbar 13" as an Air replacement.

Not sure what they are smoking with a $1500 starting price. An Air user would be better off buying the 2015 rMBP, which still has has a retina screen and faster processor. Even the 12" MB would be a better buy.

I'm really blown away(not in the good way) about the prices. The 2015 models not getting a price drop was just...

I thought the pressure from Razer's aggressive pricing would get Apple in gear. $2400 for the base model with an AMD 450? I'm shocked, even as an owner of 2 Macs.

Wow, I'm unhappy. It looks great, I like the Touchbar, the weight and sizes are perfect. But I can't afford one, or more I don't want to. Those base specs are just wildly 2012, and the prices for realistic configurations are absurd. :/

Also, to people looking at the function row one: it's not the same except for the bar. It's a glorified Air.

no Touchbar -> 15W CPU
22% slower than last years model

The specs show that the base one uses the Core i5-6360U, which is a 15W model, and scores 268pts in Cinebench R15 multicore. Last years base uses Core i5-5257U, which is a 28W model, and scores 327pts in Cinebench R15 multicore.

where did you find this? what processor does the 1799 touch bar MacBook have?

No he said it gives the illusion of more travel and physical feedback

Well, regardless of what Apple did, tons of hands-on reviewers are saying it feels great and even the ones that hated the MB keyboard are saying this one is much better.

I guess each of you will find out once you use one.

Here's a question for someone, I'm just looking at the battery specs. The new non-oled 13" has a 54.5 watt-hour battery and the oled version has a 49.2 watt-hour battery.

Considering the non-oled version also has 15w processor instead of 28w and doesn't have to power the oled bar, how come they have the same 10-hour battery life?

Thanks for this. I was debating canceling the 13" with touch bar for this one. I'll be waiting the 3 weeks

Jeeezuz... you don't know how lucky you are. My closest Apple shop is selling the 2015 15" today for £3536. I'm expecting £4,000+ for base 2016 MBP. So yeah, the UK price is GOOD.

" the 15-inch starts at $2,399" Not sure where your apple store is are you near Hearst Castle.

Way better value. The processor will still be faster than the new $1499 model, plus for $1600 you are getting double the RAM and Storage. The new pricing makes zero sense.

Are you a leaker?
Why are you so sure?

Ok so now you're not a leaker but "predicting".
Predicting basing on what?
Why shouldn't it have a dGPU option?

Have you seen them?
Actually, everyone on this thread already have. They are thinner, but not that thinner.
And the advancements in iGPU are not enough for a decent GPU.
They are going to use a dGPU, and there is no way in the entire universe is going to be NVIDIA.

My oh my, I couldn't even imagine that the iGPU of the Intel CPU focused on increasing graphic performances would have been better of a crappy rebranded downpowered GPU.

In the end, I don't get at all the sense of your posts.
You had to wait until 24 hours from the release to raise those doubts? o_O
Anyway, given the (even poor) rumors we had so far, I'm predicting AMD Polaris.
RX 480M, 35W.

Tomorrow we'll se who's @WRONG and who's @RIGHT.

Night guys.
Tomorrow is the big day.
I'm preparing my greetings speech.
:D

Oh god I already love it. That is real vodka!
На посошок!

Of course.
I predict 1500 or more.
The thread during Live Event is total madness.
You were @WRONG and I was @RIGHT.
I think 15-20% (although the 15" is 14%) thinner, as I later clarified, is significant.
I never said it shouldn't have a dGPU, but given the thinness, Apples history, Apples priorities, and the fact that it is 'more powerful' could suggest dropping the dGPUs.

In terms of iGPUs, of course they're not as powerful but all Apple needs is a higher TFLOPS number as an excuse for removing a dGPU, for example with the 21.5" iMac.

At the end of the day, I'm extremely glad they continue to use dGPUs... now we'll have to wait for benchmarks.

non oled version will get 15+ hours .... mark my words....

Who is planning on charging their iPhone using their new MBP?

Hold on to your horses: Apple's new MacBook Pro isn't iPhone friendly; requires a $25 dongle to charge your iOS device
