So on the 15" should I worry about the dGPU causing issues? I personally wanted a 15" without one, but Apple decided to take that option away lol.

lmao glad I stopped worrying about the new rMBP what a flop, the model I was looking at before the new one cost around $3,500AUD this model is $4,249.00.. for a dumb touch bar which is almost 1k more than the US store :/

Some people have said as soon as tomorrow but that could be for the readily available 13" non touch bar.
Oh yeah, probably those. I was thinking about the base 13" and 15" with the touch bar, though. Like...are they going to just randomly show up one day around stores being displayed..?

Oh yeah, funny thing. DID YOU KNOW that the standard config 13" w/touchbar with English keyboard does not have a pickup in store option, but a 13" w/touchbar with anything configured, like ram 8 --> 16gb or even changing keyboard to anything other than English will give you a pickup-in store option. THAT was extremely confusing. How come the standard 13" w/touchbar with standard keyboard does not have a pickup in store option...hmm...

With this new mbp, Apple isn't pissing anyone off but the ridiculous people. The ones who just bought the old MBPs probably aren't mad, and the only ones who'd be pissed are ones expecting more for less. Apple is the last company to expect more for less / same, lol.

good point and to be fair, if its to expensive, no one is forcing anyone to buy it.

I didn't have an in store pickup option for the 15".

Ok, about 5 hours ago I got off the computer and got some exercise in on the treadmill. Then I drank a few beers, flirted with the wife, and then...let's just say that I relieved some stress. It does wonders to step away from the intense negativity that is flooding these forums right now.

I loved everything about the new MBPs except for the fact that the max RAM is and always will be 16 GB. Actually, I was pretty irate about that fact. Now, after some stress relief and time away, I'm trying really hard to take a logical approach to determining if I can make the new MBP work or if I need to put on my big boy pants and cancel the order and wait until Apple offers 32 GB of RAM.

Time and research will tell. Tomorrow, I'm going to carefully study the Activity Monitor while I process Canon 1D X Mark II full-frame 35mm video at 4K 60 fps while simultaneously processing a multitude of 65 mp Canon 5DsR files. Granted, since I'm using older hardware it's not a proper comparison, but I want to see how much RAM I really consume in these two activities, which I routinely perform on my laptop about 120-140 days a year.

Aside form my own personal testing, can anyone offer sound advice on the RAM situation? If I can assure myself that 16 GB of RAM will mostly work for the next 3 years, then I'll keep my order. If it can't, then I will cancel my order.

Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

On the Australian website, it says it will be available for pick up on Nov 1.
So I'm guessing it will be available in stores in the US Oct 31 or Nov 1.

If so, then I'm hopeful our orders will be shipped sooner. Which reminds me. I'll need to get a USB-C to Ethernet adapter so I can do a Time Machine restore.

For which product tho? The non-touchbar or the ones with touchbar? As far as I know, all non-touchbar models get shipped like...tomorrow.

As is always the case, if you can wait, wait. If your current machine isn't up to the task, then buy it. Not that I do much video processing/rendering, but I don't believe memory is a huge factor. The CPU/GPU will be the bigger factor, and I don't see Apple changing that much next year.

Forget about them releasing a notebook with more than 16gb RAM anytime soon. So either go with the current models or buy an iMac.
