Yeah, I think some of those guys would've been happy with at least TB3 newer GPUs or whatever, something to show that they were still interested not dead silence.
Yeah they got into the Touch Bar, and everyone on here was like OK OK enough with the Touch Bar... but a... yeah "that's what it's (was) all about..."

Forget about them releasing a notebook with more than 16gb RAM anytime soon. So either go with the current models or buy an iMac.

Thank you for the feedback. I own a iMac with 32 GB of RAM and that is what I use back at home station. However, what puts bread on my table is my action-adventure, nature, and wildlife photography. I travel all over the world for approximately 150 days a year and during that timeframe, I am processing and delivering exclusively on my mid-2012 MBP. (see my signature below for more hardware details)

I may stick with what I have. I am not afraid to spend money on technology, but I have to see the value in it and for my own personal standards, I expect a new laptop to carry me through the next 3 years in the field. Anything less is not worth it to me at this time.

since I ended up maxing my configuration I will be using my mac all the time and will sell my iPad Pro. I hardly use my iPad.

Mine shows Nov 17 - Nov 25. I took a few minutes cause my head exploded after seeing the price.

It took me about 30 minutes after seeing the price. I had a $1,250 before tax budget. So I was about $450 over budget before tax. I wouldn't allow my first MacBook Pro ship without Touch Bar and Touch ID. Coming from a MacBook 7,1 (Mid-2010), I have always wanted a Pro.

If so, then I'm hopeful our orders will be shipped sooner. Which reminds me. I'll need to get a USB-C to Ethernet adapter so I can do a Time Machine restore.

Can't you just use WiFi from the air capsule...

I was looking to do this instead of buying and adapter... slower.. yes... but free:)

New Macbook Pro, Football Manager 2017 and a new Playstation 4 pro and Fifa 17 around the same time.

busy times, wife is not going to be happy.

I thought after the announcement I would leave here, but....here I am.

Odered 13" 16+512+touch bar. I hesitated so the ship day went to early December. Sigh

can someone give me reasons that I made the right decision for going 16gb ram in my 13in MacBook? I'm having second thoughts even though I plan on keeping it for 5+ years.

After some searching and chatting with apple reps online, i have discovered that the RAM is indeed DDR3 2133MHz, which does indeed exist, and while 2133MHz DDR3 is the upper limit of DDR3 memory speed and it is the base DDR4 memory speed, there has been extensive research that concludes that there is a negligible difference bettween 2133 DDR3 and 2133 DDR4.

I asked multiple reps about the performance of the Radeon Pro 460. the first rep tried to tell me that it is on par with a GTX 1080, GTX 1070, and R9 Fury-X. The second Rep that i talked to was not able to give me much information, as they dont actually have all that much.

On my own i have concluded that the performance of the Radeon Pro 460 probably falls around the GTX 960M (which has 1.4 TFlops) and possibly the GTX 965M (which has 1.9 TFlops), which does give decent gaming performance.

So take all this with a grain of salt, if you have any questions about my sources let me know

Why is that? Any thoughts on what's preventing them from offering that option?

Probably planned obsolescence. Nothing will outdate a computer these days quicker than lack of memory. The sooner you feel the pinch the sooner you buy a new one.

Fair enough.

No matter if it doesn't meet a small percentage of people's expectations spec wise, or exceeds expectations price wise, it will still be the best portable on the market.

I'd expect a 32gb ram option it make it into Generation 2, along with further refinements. If you can wait another year it's more prudent to wait for Apple to iron out the kinks anyway.

For the record, I do agree the price is flat out greedy on Apples part. Guess we just have to suck it down.

Someone posted earlier a graphic that said the Pro 455 has around 1.3 TFlops, so you're probably not wrong.

I don't have a TimeCapsule. I'm using a Synology NAS for TimeMachine backups. Just figured wired would be faster. I copy large ~10G files every few days between my NAS and laptop and currently use my TB->Ethernet adapter.

Though this brings up a good talking point for the group till we get our MacBooks. What accessories is everyone getting?

I've been on this thread a lot today. More than I have in the past 3 months combined. But unfortunately I must sign off as I am an adult with responsibilities.

So I'd just like give you all this heartfelt message before I go. Ahem.

If that big ass trackpad doesn't support an Apple pencil then it's ****ing stupid. There's big, and then there's "wow this is ****ing stupid". Why not put some googly eyes on it too? Then I'll at least know it's supposed to look goofy as ****.

Christ. I need a drink.

tb3 to usb A and tb3 to hdmi at least. Maybe more as I see fit. Definitely need an external sd reader now but don't take many photos in college so I might hold off on that.

That is a good question. I definitely want a microfiber carrying pouch, USB-C to ethernet, USB-C to Lightning cable, and USB-C to HDMI. As for where to get these, not quite sure yet, but they will make a great Christmas list lol.

i also posted about that, so... yeah
lol, sorry man. I had no idea who posted that it was so early in the day!

So how long is everyone expecting their new shiny Macbook Pros to last?

4 years for me, went with the 15 inch 2.9ghz, 512gb SSD and 460 AMD, Space Grey

For laptop they last quite well had two new Macbook Pros (2007 and Mid 2010) only held out till now as the 2014-2015 didn't appeal and i was happy to wait.

Shame about the 16gb RAM, it would have been a good option to hit 32gb.

But to be fair, most of us don't need 32gb, but its a pain if you do as it'll force you off the Mac platform, feel for you guys.

Now i can't wait to use my new Machine:D

WTF WTF WTF!!!!!!!!! They don't even include the extension cord piece of the power adapter anymore! Good thing I have a couple lying around from previous chargers, but that is just ridiculous. Especially with the price increase! The cord is only 2 Meters. I mean, how many times have you needed the extension cord? Personally, I would answer with EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!! Power outlets are almost never conveniently located in the perfect location. I struggle to find a place for my 2 M iPad charging cable to plug in because it doesn't have the extension. At least I used to say, "At least my Mac has one." Not anymore.

Am I the only one pissed off about this!!??

Its all good. the good news is that if it is comparable to the GTX 965M then gaming performance should be adequate

I'm buying the Asus XG Station 2 when it comes out though anyway so I can put a 1080 in it. I want my games to play in the best form they can.
