dreams... hopefully they dont switch 3.5mm into lightning here

I hope they do. If they're going to do it in the future, I'd rather they do it sooner than later. I use Bluetooth headphones anyway, so it doesn't bother me. Then again, I can see this would be a huge problem for music professionals who rely on the 3.5mm headphone jack so I don't know. Just give me Iris Pro 580 and Thunderbolt 3 ports (plural) on the 15 inch MacBook Pro and I'll be happy.

Theres no need for an March Event. Silent Upgrade for the 13" MBP is enough for me. 15" back later than.

...There's no need but still they're probably going to do the event, although without rumors about it, and even if you won't need it.
Anyway thank you for your helpful and interesting post! ;)

if they will do a little redesign for the MBP family they want people to know through an event

Don't get my wrong, I'm waiting like the rest of you on my mid 2012 MBP, but the games they play is just pathetic some times. I use to an apple fanboy in college, but over the last 8 years I just think their keynotes are pretty sad. I mean, you can basically script it out after seeing one. Same thing, over and over. And as someone pointed out, Phil will talk about how the 2015 MBP is "The greatest MBP yet". Well duh. 2 years of the selling the same hardware will do that.

Yes I still buy apple stuff and recommend it to most, yes I actually recommend based on needs/funds, I no longer am hypnotized by the new "shiny" stuff every single year. I let my money work for me rather than me for it and buying same crap every year is as bad of an investment as buying new cars.

The truth is we're all playing games..on ourselves! :O

Wasn't Apple's insistence on not using Intel chips way back when a consequence of them not being overly reliant upon (the whims of) Intel for their product release strategy?

If this is really just Intel pulling shenanigans or not being able to get their chips production-ready, do you guys think Apple will want to "break up" with Intel and scale up their own silicon production to include their laptop lines?

And run ARM? Doubtful. They'd have to pretty much start all over from scratch as far as application and device support. Probably not the best idea for them.

Well pretty much the same code can be compiled for iOS an OS X. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Apples A-series ARM processors in a Mac in a couple of years especially because Intels progress has pretty much stalled. Apples ARM chips' performance has improved very quickly CPU wise and even quicker in the graphics department. I'm sure ARM is going to be the future for Apple. Not quite yet though.

My hopes for the 13" mbpr with skylake.
13.3" edge to edge almost no bezel.
Quad core processor I mean come on apple please?
2.5gb graphics.
16gb ram intro like the current 15".
512gb 850mbp/s transfer and read.
Touch keyboard, no physical (jk).
Colors, I want gold color mbpr.
5 USB type c ports one dedicated to power only.
No thunderbolt ports I mean who cares?
3.5mm headphone jack not a proprietary one.
OSX 11.1 something "magical".
10 hour battery.

You're going to be sorely disappointed. First of all having a dedicated usb-c for power is a very bad idea. Imagine the confusion. Also, thunderbolt is now rolled into Usb c type. And as far as something "magical", expect parallax icons... *confetti canon*.

Boy drew aren't you a Debbie Downer!? Can't you let me dream for one second? They'll probably only give us 6gb's and tell us that because it's satan's number it's "the greatest thing on earth". I think the USB Type-C charging port would be on the left and everything else on the right, that's it.

Since we've still got a ways to go till release lets discuss some of the TB3 stuff that have been released. Anyone planning to get a TB3 eGPU even if a discrete one is offered on the new models?

me . if the next mbpr come with TB3, i'm going to buy the base model 15" and buy egpu dock and a next gen nvidia card

What is TB3 and is eGPU an external graphics card? lol

Basically, using Thunderbolt 3 and a graphics card docking station, u can use a desktop gpu on you macbook. meaning u can play games like the gta5 and battlefield on a macbook at full resolution

I'm hoping to buy one off the shelf, something that says Mac compatible (meaning fully, drivers, plug and play everything). If if we need to restart in order to use it I wouldn't wouldn't mind ( I think thats the limitation for folks using it today with modded kext). I see most people using the Akitio boxes, its very possible that we will see TB3 models announced at NAB in April, but the TB2 models look like they would work OK. Now to find a decent video card.

Oh wait, that won't work without an adapter. (TB2 mDP -> TB3 USB-C). Startech has one but it isn't cheap; adds about $100 bucks to the solution.

I don't need an event. Just update the front page of Apple.com with the phrase: "15-inch rMBP's updated. Come and get 'em."

So true. Apple would get so much more traffic to their site of they would slipstream updates instead of these overblown who cares events.

I would check their site multiple times per day. Now, the way it is, I never check their site until after an event. No reason to.
