15" yes. 13" - no. They could've updated 13" a month or more ago. Surface Pro 4 does not have 14-15" model.

If they stagger the releases and delay the 15" MBP, it's going to be a very unpopular decision.

Why do they need to wait for Iris Pro anyway? Why not do with a strictly discrete GPU option? Ya know, innovate????

With all their cash you'd think Apple could put pressure on Intel to meet their timeline.

On one hand there is no top-tier mobile CPU without iGPU at the moment. You will have to waste a lot of 45W CPU TDP on iGPU no matter you're willing to or not. The only thing you are given to choose is whether it will be quite efficient or more efficient or the most efficient way to spend those 45W on both CPU and iGPU.

On the other hand there is no dGPU at the moment that is much more performant than the one in rMBP 2015 and meets rMBP 15" TDP constraints at the same time. There will be a big step forward in June or slightly later in this area.

So this way or that way you'll have to wait for the new 15" to be released no matter whether it is just a spec bump or full redesign. This is not true for 13" though.

To be clear, Apple can design more TDP room in a new chasis. I dont EXPECT them too, as they love thin and I dont think they see dGPU as necessary, but if they are re-designing anyway theres no reason they would be 'stuck' with the same TDP space.

I don't see them increasing TDP. Simply put, heat (or more specifically, cooling systems that dissipate heat) need space and Apple hates making things bigger.

Well, Apple could as well close tomorrow with troll face and text "gg hf" on apple.com. I doubt they will do it.

Generally speaking prices in the US remain consistent.

Yes pricing has remained the same. Even the old powerbooks started at $2000.

The 1.0 GHz, 15-inch PowerBook G4, for a suggested retail price of $1,999 (US), includes: Combo (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) optical drive; 256MB DDR SDRAM

I absolutely will not pay $2300-$2500 for a base MBP w/ 16 GB of memory and iGPU. Since the mid tier would be higher closer to $3k, i would just save my pennies and get the nMP so I can have TWO gpu.

Guys do you realice that we've got prices for Skylake chips since September and some of them are not still realeased even though they were set for late 2015? Pricing is a good indicator, but not always means availability.

As far as I am aware the only info is the info in this article.

https://www.macrumors.com/2016/01/27/skylake-macbook-pro-15-chips/

It shows

i7 6770HQ
i7 6870HQ
i7 6970HQ

The 6 is for 6th gen. The rest is the model number. If you match the model numbers to current Haswell gen (i7 4770HQ, i7 4870HQ, i7 4970HQ) they are all Iris Pro graphics versions.

Those chips are only "released" as of now. No one knows when Apple is going to integrate those chips for their next gen mbpr. This is why people are expecting March / June event

I know. I was quoting as PFKMan23 said "The chips announced with Iris Pro are Xeon."
But the 3 models I listed are Skylake non Xeon Iris Pro.

As you say release probably March/June. I am hoping for March. If it is June it will be the largest number ever into the buyers guide days between update. It could happen but I will make a sad face in protest

I'll be pretty mad and ticked off if they go with june for the 13" mbpr's, it had better be in march.

Some more data for a potential launch date, treat it as a highly unconfirmed rumor tho:

Bench life.info claims that the the Skull Canyon NUC we've been waiting for (Because they contain our beloved Gen 6 Iris Pro Chips) will see a release in Q2 2016. We will have a better picture of the release date for these during the Intel GDC in March, but a March announcement makes sense for a April-June release.

Next the marketing material for HPs Z book workstation, have the availability of the Xeon w/ Iris P580 at "1H16 here.

Intel® Xeon® E3-1545M v5 with Intel® IrisTM Pro Graphics P580 (Available in 1H16);

As much as it sucks I just don't think the yields are there for a March release on the 15". The 13" side i'm not worried about since the Vaio w/ Iris 550 is in the wild. I'm starting to think we will see both 13" and 15" announced but the 13" will be available at launch with the 15" coming shortly thereafter. In my version of a perfect world, Apple will reach into some of those deep pockets of theirs and scoop up whatever chips Intel will manage but that would be a miracle.

Killawat that's a great idea that they would announce both but then release the 15" later and the 13" right away. I like that thought. That thought got me excited.
[doublepost=1454379755][/doublepost]let's guess what the 13" mbpr 2016 will have in it specs wise.

My speculations:

First: RIP Macbook Air, Macbook Pro

Long Life the New Macbooks

From these speculations and leaks, consider the most likely Macbook Pro replacement would be:

Ports: Dual Thunderbol3/USB-C (12" model single TB3 Port) + HDMI 2.0 + 3rd USB-C non thunderbolt 3 for USB/Video/Power-IN, No Magsafe.
GPU: Only Integrated, dGPU thru TB3 only
SSD: NVMe kind 2MB/s, same options but cheaper, twice faster.
Sizes available: 14" and 16" replace 13" and 15" models about same footprint, 12" model replacing current 12" Macbook, no more "Pro" suffix only plain Macbook for all.
Memory: 8/16/32 GB DDR4 @2166ghz options non user upgradeable.
Resolution: 16"model on 4K. 14"model: qHD, 12"same resolution as it replaces.
Fingerprint scanner a possibility.
A Lightning Port and Apple Pencil Support on the Screen another possibility.

Launch March Event 12 & 14" model, 15" Mopel along the updated new Mac Pro on WWDC.

Cinema Display/ Thunderbolt Display 5K: (launch at WWDC)

There are 3 Options:

5K Thunderbolt 3 Display PRO with Onboard dGPU, USB-C, WebCam ethernet, etc,
5K Cinema Display on USB-C MST w/o Onboard dGPU + WebCam (2 USB-C connectors) + Ethernet.
A "PRO" Dock with dGPU as Add-On back Atachement for such 5K Cinema Display.

Not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but does your speculation have any basis in fact or is this just your wishlist?

ladies and gentlemen.

apple is intel's prime partner. only because you can't buy them on ebay doesn't mean apple gets no chips in advance.

proper chips have been released during ces. the only problem is that intel rather talked utter ******** on stage instead of announcing actual products.

like apple no longer upraged the non retina macbook pro, his basics are Apple history in removing things.
so maybe this year the 11 MBA will be removed completely and keep the 13" MBA for a few more years
