I'd love the pro laptops to change to black, although, fingerprints would be an issue

Yeah, all black would be great. I'd be OK with a deep black brushed (anodised?) aluminium to avoid the finger prints etc.
If they kept the light up apple, change that from the current 'white' translucent cover to something darker to match.

Hello everyone, today I bring big news.
I know a trustable *source*
Well, I don't know it personally. Let's just say...

e7tlfi.jpg

So he tolds me that the new rMBP will feature:
- the Skylake CPU we were waiting for months and which we already discussed and knew the names and specs
- the connections that we already discussed tons of times on this thread and we're all waiting for
- the colors that Apple is using for all its other products
- smaller bezels like everyone in the past four months have stated/hoped
- guess what?! A slimmer body! Yeah because Apple this time is going backwards and making computer thinner, nor thicker
- Improved performance, because as you know using a better CPU always means ugly battery life, especially when the claimed CPU is focus on power saving
- a trackpad
- for the first time on an Apple device: a keyboard.
and still a couple of features that were already discussed, supposed and predicted on this thread months ago.

Hope that this was useful to you all.
Let's wait for March now

This is actually happening in March?? or you being like Saul? Because I gotta Walter White that **** if you lying now! ;)

I'd be more than ok with that, super cool.
I'll be happy with space gray for a macbook pro.

Being realistic the best we could see at March or WWDC is:

14" or 16" same pixel density but on 16:9 aspect ratio.

2 Thunderbolt 3.
1 hdmi
1-2 usb 3.0
NVMe SSD.

*Maybe* a dGPU AMD "POLARIS" and Xeon on a full loaded 16" rMBP (squared or not, silver more likely, but Apple should anodize it in black as the iPhone5 that Xeon rMBP just to kick ases, hey Johnny... ).

A collateral from that 16:9 aspect ratio is it provides bit more space for that hidden vents on the hinge so if Apple didn't make it slimmer the new form factor should be capable to handle an bigger TDP.

*maybe* a fingerprint reader could appear as some support for Apple pencil (it's very common to see an digitizer along a Mac so this is an logical offer) as well nfc.

From OSX it's time for Apple to improve the file system, since bit riot it's an issue facing creatives working with huge files as 4K media a copy on write file system with block hash protection as ZFS or BTRFS should be adopted this also will promote Timemachine to the next level of features and security.

I'm still shocked by the lenovo's P50 we deserve something alike.

This article contains no new info, mate :/
There is a new poll/article in 9to5mac where all this information is accounted plus few new details on the next Macbook Pro as it could include touch ID and early March launch for the 14" model and later for 16" (the one with dGPU). Moreless all what's been speculated most simple logic (improved performance battery etc) few other maybe on leaks as touchID support.

Link ? I don't see it ..
And I'm more interested by the date than detailed specs, really need to change my current MBP.

I'm also waiting to update my desktop and get an new MacBook Pro (I naive tried to replace it with an iPad big mistake).

Don't rely on dates, the most consistent rumor is about two lots of macbook arriving 1st half, on March a 12 std and a 14 pro, and later a 16 pro.

I don't believe Apple having available on March the new MacBooks will delay it launch, I think the only launch at WWDC will be the updated new Mac Pro / mini and maybe Thunderbolt Displays a day new airport extreme/ timecapsule.

Let's summarize March event:

IPhone 5se novelties? None.
Watch novelties? Few straps...
Ipad 3 novelties? None just adopting what's was previously introduced on the iPad pro.

All this barely account for half hour event.

While the MacBooks really introduce novelties (for the Mac line) most important is Skylake/Thunderbolt 3, new form factor (16:9) and touch ID.

Here is another half hour.

While the introduction of the new MacBook may arrive delayed first the updated 12" model (basically adopting new cpu and single Thunderbolt 3) and later maybe early April the first nrMBP 14 and at June just before or after WWDC should arrive the 16" model with delivery late June early July.

That would be ****ed up if they decide to release a 14" in march and keep their mouths shut about a possible 16"...

Also they could announce the basic non Xeon 16" model (available on June) and launch the Xeon version at WWDC along the updated Mac Pro, would be an nice touch all Xeon based Mac to be in black.

Don't forget 15 minutes with statistics such as sales figures + something about new stores opening. They will have made a video about it haha.
Another: Don't Strange the new MacBooks not having the "pro" suffix while being the line replacement. This suffix then being reserved to the Macs based on Xeon and/or having dGPU on board (please all In black I dream with an black macbook).

Later this year is likely Apple will begin the transition to AMD Zen with an custom APU on the iMac followed later by the Mac mini the first non-intel Macs since the Power Mac Era.

There has been like one report of a staggered release and that's all. There hasn't been any rumors of a 14" or 16", just speculation if I recall correctly. We may see a staggered release, but it's just as likely that they both release in June. Trying to find a spot in March based on what you personally find interesting enough for Apple to spend time on is a non-starter, and your estimations are sure to be way off.

I'm only speculating based on what should be logic.

1st MacBooks line simplification analog to the iPad/iPhone : three sizes, basic std and pro features .

2nd the switch to 14/16" models comes from digitimes and make sense jumping from 12 to 14 instead 12 to 13, what should be considered speculation is the aspect ratio, it's was an old rumours from the MBA.

Apple uses to introduce new models well before available just to name the Mac Pro, iPad pro and the watch weren't available but months later, is clever for Apple having available some new Macs at April to introduce it at March event which without it should be considered an event whiteout novelties to introduce just updates (most manufacturer only release a press note on such launches no need to spend on an event just to announce the same product with internals previously introduced on other products).

And actually the only vedettes at the event will be the Thunderbolt 3 and touch ID on the Mac line, while important none are game changers.

My fear is they'll fill the event with sales figures, Apple Music and Apple News updates, maybe discuss iOS 9.3 (Night Shift and the iPad education additions), new stores, the new Apple campus, visitor center, and auditorium, etc. They could certainly pull enough of this to fill some time. Don't get me wrong, this would still make for a lackluster event.

That's why I'm thinking if there is a March event, we'll see something brand new (if we don't get new MacBooks).

As I did some minor video editing on my MBA last night, it took all the strength that I had to prevent myself from running to the Apple Store and grabbing the MBP...

Must...have...patience...

I've seen several folks asking/hoping for 16:9 screens -- can I ask why? 16:10 (as we have today) gets you the same horizontal real estate, but more vertical real estate, assuming they use high enough resolution panels. Heck, I'd also take 3:2 over 16:9 any day. 4:3 was awesome, but that's probably never coming back.

I just hate the trend of moving productivity machines to 16:9 formats.

Maybe I remember you now we are on Angela's hands previously was inconceivable Apple announcing updates by press release, or having a March event or an 2nd late year event.

Even if not shown at March, Angela would request an April event without care on that imaginary rules or schedules.

Yeah I like 16:10 hope this still as a rumours no mater if only new things are Thunderbolt 3 there is no real need to make a major revision on the macbook pro form factor besides usb-c instead Thunderbolt 2.

I haven't seen a single soul praying for 16:9.

And no, 4:3 was not awesome haha.

Thanks for the info, but the "problem" is that even in the rumors, the 14 pro arriving in March seems to be very inconsistent. :/

Funny how the 14/16 rumour has actually gained foothold on the minds of some here, when absolutely not one trusted source has even suggested it, that rumour started here. It started here just because the Macbook was released with a 12" display, and suddenly Apple can't continue using odd numbers for the display size (WTF). In fact, Ming-chi Kuo reported some new MacBooks planned for WWDC 2016 but in 13/15 sizes. Mark Gurman hasn't even said anything about the matter. Im not opposed to a display area increase, but this 14/16 rumour must be taken with a truck load of Sodium chloride.
