However, after some thinking: I would wait for more benchmarks before hyping it up. This shows only that GPU works, in some environment.

If you suggest doing the same to a PC user here or in Apple forums, wouldn't he or she find similar things?

Keyboard getting printed on the screen due to bad layer covers, chargers that break like paper, throttling issues, apple costumer care bs as refusing to repair a laptop because the owner was a smoker, users experience lag in retina screens, etc...

Your missing the point. It isn't IF there are sometimes technical issues with Macs and/ or apple customer service, it is the scale of these problems.

There is a big difference in 35% of a line of computers having major problems vs 3%.

And you seem to understand that Apple's customer service can be a pain, but my point (based of what i have been reading) is that Dell's is much, much worse.

Basically... paying a bit less for better specs, but having a much higher chance of the computer frying and/or other major problems all whilst customer service is ten times worse to deal with and ten times less accommodating.

I doubt you'd find any Apple laptop with more 1-star reviews than 5-star reviews to be honest...

I'm a little surprised the possibility of thinner bezels automatically means larger screens. It could also mean just a smaller body. We are talking about a company utterly obsessed with thinness and lightness. It would be an opportunity to make currently popular products smaller without affecting screen size at all. I think they chose 13" and 15" for a reason; those screen sizes work for their markets. If larger screens were a big consideration, I think they're more likely to re-introduce a 17" and use smaller bezels for smaller bodies across the board.

Also remember that the 12" rMB is 12" because of the keyboard width. It doesn't necessarily mean that Apple is shooting for a 12", 14", and 16" offering.

On a related note, I've heard the speaker on the rMB is incredible, so if they put that into the new MBPs, we should get some truly excellent speaker sound.

I specify that it is the 2015 xps, the skylake one with the infinity display. Many of the reviews confirm that they are having problems with their 2015 xps, but some do not specify the year of their model in their reviews so i guess those ones could ~possibly~ be considered inaccurate as they might have been filed under the wrong year model.

The 2015 model on amazon has more 1 star reviews than 5 star. You can confirm that is is the 2015 model simply because it is the only picture with the windows ten on the laptops display. Like i said, maybe some people reviewed the wrong year laptop, but i am not going to debate for or against that prospect. I have (albeit less extensively) scanned the xps forums, and came to similar conclusions. I understand and practice technical differentiation.

I want nothing more than someone to buy a good laptop and have a good experience. If you have any conflicting information, and or knowledge i do not, i would love to see it. However, like i have urged multiple times now, go take a look on amazon. Find the XPS with the windows ten background and read away. Then check out the XPS forum. Lastly, go to Dell's facebook page. I have never seen so many people writing negative things on any companies wall before (at least when i looked a month ago). Were there multiple sets of the skylake 2015 xps or something (Not years)? If i a missing something, i genuinely would like to know. If i am wrong, i will have no problem admitting so.

Yeah so I don't think you have ulterior motives but I do think you're an idiot. Those amazon reviews are obviously on the older version of the XPS 15, notice the haswell processor. (http://www.amazon.com/Dell-15-6-Inc...F8&qid=1457032220&sr=8-1&keywords=xps+15+2015). Also a search in the owner's thread on notebookcheck.net yielded 1 result for the NEW XPS 15 having to be replace someones motherboard.
Well, that's part of it. Apparently dealing with Dell's customer service these days is horrible. This is well, well reflected in the anecdotal evidence i have come across. Go online and read yourself, don't take my word for it.

And i disagree, i think a big part of it is to what proportion a line of computers has problems. I understand that all lines/brands of laptops have technical issues, but would you buy a laptop when the majority of that line are plagued with problems, or just a few?
[doublepost=1457040944][/doublepost]

Yes, exactly. I am being painted as an XPS hater when in reality that was my first contender. I was excited about its advent. However, it is precisely the influx of negativity and complaints around it that have pushed me towards getting a Mac. I am merely conveying the experiences of many, many others.

Lol no one cares if you hate it or love it. We just don't appreciate you saying it has poor reviews and bad motherboards when it simply doesn't. Those Amazon reviews you are talking about are for the 2015 haswell non thin bezel XPS 15 and that's a totally different machine. Go back to your biomedical research or whatever.( I don't know how that was pertinent to anything.)

On a different note. MARCH EVENT IS ALMOST HERE :D what what!

HUGE prediction on my part!
Not sure if anyone mentioned this before, BUT
This year, 2016, it's exactly TEN years after Steve Jobs unveiled the original MacBook Pro as ONE MORE THING.
See for yourself:

Also note the kind of presentation, the "power per watt" thing, the efficiency about mobile processors and is not SKYLAKE exactly about that? I don't want to get any hopes up, but think about it, wouldn't that be an awesome homage? It's exactly "X" years after the original MacBook Pro and Tim Cook could pull a "one more thing". They probably kept it under wraps exactly for this reason, for it to be "one more thing" maybe with a huge redesign to boot. Maybe it's manufactured in the US as well, just like the Mac Pro. It would make sense don't you think? Of course this says NOTHING about it being announced in march or june anyways.

Skylake MBP's are going to be announced in March event surely, this can be seen from huge discount running on all the products.
Moreover, the Skylake processor's are available now.

Whole Mac line is outdated, they will announce other Mac products at wwdc to remove confusion and cannibalization.

The only reason we are not getting any leaks is because they are going to ship/release them later like April or start of may.

It would really be an amazing event if they introduced redesigned MacBook Pro's. The 10 year anniversary would make it even better.

One can only hope
I can't wait (in the way where I am stoked). I was just watching the keynote where the 2012 rMBP's were introduced. I kind of peed in my shorts after watching it (and I am not even wearing shorts). It calmed me down a bit.

There's no way there will be more than a couple of weeks time between announcement and shipping, if anything. I bet my money on it that whenever they announce the new macs, it will be shipping that day or the next day.

Btw... I just configured a MBPr 13" in the austrian apple store website (fully specced, top model) and it gave me a delivery estimate of march 16th... isn't that unusually long? Just saying...

US site is saying March 11-15. Seems about right.

Yeah but I mean, is it normal for customized macbook pro to take 10 days to arrive?
Back in the day when I bought my black macbook online I had it in about 3 days. Well back then it was really easy to access the internals to "build to order" something compared to now.

Damn, I miss those keynotes :-(

You are forgetting the MAC PRO announcement, when mac pro was redesigned, apple announced it at wwdc and then it was released in November.

Obviously, this time they are going to release within a month or 2.

Invites out, i'm reading between the lines, i think we're in luck!
(j/k, putting positive thoughts out there, visualising, hahaha #stayingpostive)

Did you make up that image or did that really come from the invite? That is definitely "Skylake".

It's time to buy my first (Skylake :) ) MBP.

I will use it for iOS app development (not games or heavy graphics) and some (light) SQL Server BI use. That means I'll need OS X and Windows on MBP.

I would like to hear your experience / opinion - dual boot or Parallels?
Also, what MBP would you buy for iOS app development and SQL Server?
Is MBP 13" and 8 GB enough for everyday work?

Thanks!

Even 4GB is enough for everyday work. I'm doing some mixes and masterings (up to 20 channels or so, not big projects tho) with 4GB MBA. Yeah, it struggles, but I'm getting job done with it while I'm waiting for the new MBPs.
8GB is enough for virtualization if you plan to run only one VM at once, I used to program with Visual Studio on VMware with my old 2010 MBP (8GB) with no problems. But if you are planning to run various VM at once, or have some problems with memory (shouldn't be the case), you can always use Bootcamp, which works like charm.

=============

Yeah, that'd be a pity for some people who really need it, to see Macbooks available in May when released in March, but I definitely prefer this rather than having them announced in June and probably being available in August-Sept.
