While we're waiting, I did some photoshopping on the current Retina 13".
(The Rose/Gold colours came out oddly. Maybe the thin design is a little ambitious?)

Wow wow wee wow! That's a lot of usb-c ports.
[doublepost=1457814620][/doublepost]I hope there aren't any TB ports I never use those, no offense to all the fans of those.

What if at the end of the event, after no rMB or rMBP updates, they do a dramatic pause and say:

... one more thing.

And then they start playing this at the background of the stage

Wouldn't it be epic? :D
They very well just may listen to your concern.

I think you mean TB2 ports. TB3 ports will also be compatible with USB-C...

Personally, I love TB2 ports, my work computer was a 17" MacBook Pro and I have a LaCie Rugged 1TB Hard Drive and it is so much faster than using the usb-3.1 cable. But I have stopped working there and I personally don't own a Mac that can utilize my drive's full potential.
I'm hoping a TB2 -> TB3 cable will become available

Wow, what just have happened after the 21th event official announcement? Before that, the thread was going like "damn I want them soon". Now, it became a "fu Apple, fu everyone!" thread :D

I'd be happy with just 2 USB C and 2 Thunderbolt 3, since these last ones can also be USB ports.

And about the wait or wait, I've definitely taken it with philosophy and by the time it comes, I'll be like: damn, finally... But I just try not to think about it too often or I'd become mad. Meanwhile I'm on a quite new MBA, not the best thing but can get my work done with some patience, but I understand that others really NEED it as soon as possible.

If Apple doesn't deliver their macbook products on the march event. I'm moving over to other PCs (dell xps 15 seems very promising.) As much as I hate windows 10 os, I am need of laptop ASAP and march is the last straw... so please Apple deliver your ultimate macbooks! I AM WAITING!!

If they don't have an update by the end of April/Early May, I will most likely buy a Windows-based machine. The price for a brand new rMBP is only a few hundred more than a closely specced refurb one (mostly due to education discount) - this means it is not worth my while, as I don't want to spend that much money on such outdated technology.

Don't know that I can bring myself to buy a Dell though - have had bad experiences with them in the past. Would probably end up going with a Razer Blade - they look pretty reasonable.

Ideally, Apple will announce updates to the rMBP lineup at the March 21 event and I will be able to order one straight away.

Either way, I need to buy a new laptop before the end of June, so that it can be a tax offset.

I really do not get the hate on windows 10, I have been using it since way back when they started releasing developer previews and have had no issues what so ever, it is a major improvement over a joke of an OS that was Windows 8. Apple on the other hand is due for a major OS upgrade, the last major release (El Capitan) wasn't really all that significant of an upgrade. It would be nice to see a UI overhaul later this year hopefully.

Your comparison is flawed. Windows 10 is 3 years apart from Windows 8, so the difference is of course much bigger. Also, there was already a UI overhaul in 2014 with OS X Yosemite.

windows 10 is solid but there are many inconsistencies with it. some things just "don't work" properly and the settings/configuration system is a mess.

ever since I started using OS X, Windows 10 just seems more and more sloppier to me with all the bugs.
I will say, though, that Windows 8(.1) was not that bad of an experience to me.

Apple does OS updates yearly, in comparison to Microsoft releasing about every 3 years, so I wouldn't expect too much out of most yearly updates.

I use Windows 7 every single day. I really don't understand why people are so big on Windows being ****. I have to admit that Mac is more user friendly and simpler to find the right options, but windows is very user friendly too.

In Holland we have a dutch saying: 'Wat de boer niet kent, dat vreet hij niet." - "The farmer doesn't eat, what he doesn't know". This translates to: The mac-o-phile doesn't try windows, because he doesn't want to try or learn"

I strongly feel that if you are open minded to using windows and learning how it works, you will survive this "1st world, dramatic inconvenience".

EDIT: Have been using windows all my life and have NEVER had a blue screen, or crashes or any big malfunctions happen to all the laptops and PC's my family and I have owned. The only problem we had is that our 10 year old laptop died this year because the RAM and was getting iffy

Word. I use OS X at home, Win7 at work. Win7 is awesome; powerful, fast, easy to use. For me (and I hope most of our fellow OS X lovers), it just comes down to personal preference. I just can't see myself using Windows at home because I love using OS X. Not taking anything away from Windows though.

I use both Windows and OS X. I dislike Windows for many reasons such as the Registry, the way application programs are installed and many small things. Windows 10 did fix some of the inconveniences but there are still too many things that make it hard to like (at least for me). Windows gets the job done, but I will take OS X over Windows any day. It depends on how much you value those small things.

Very true.
Also file management is one thing that OSX beats Windows in every time.

The upcoming rMBP will be my own first Mac and I am very excited about it. I love the visual design of everything in OSX above all, especially with a Retina Display :)

The main point why I won't return back to Windows is habit.
I've been more than six years working with OSX, so I've started understand how it works and how I can fix it.
And I like too much, as you say, the way OSX manage Registry, installation, and generally the system.
Heck, I don't want to make anymore a defragmentation on my computer...
Also, Windows is changed so much from the last time I used it (good ol' XP :D ), it would be really weird for me turning back to another OS.
Not to mention all my files, documents, and applications!
And furthermore all the games on Steam which I purchased for OSX.
Naaaah, I'm not turning back working on Windows.
Besides, I can install it on my Mac anyway, to see how it works and maybe to start learning again (and that's something I can't do on Windows).
But having it as my first work OS?
Nope.

The lack of design consistency in both OS X and W10 it's annoying. I wish Apple will end doing something aesthetically closer to iOS with OS X like they did with the action center or spotlight... because other things like Finder, Desktop dock, settings, menus, etc... I find them really old-fashioned with 00's style when we are almost on 20's
