The downside is they use Windows 10 (still better than windows 8). Also I had Razer Blade, but the battery life sucks and I understand due to powerful gpu. Lastly, to get things fixed or check up while under warranty is a hassle since they don't have any local stores like Apple.
The battery kills the deal and so does windows 10 and no local stores like apple especially kills it. But if I am desperate enough I'll marry it.

This thread has become one of the most unique online events that I've ever been a part of.

The same for me, it's really a nice virtual place where to stay.
Maybe I can skip the Skylake MBP and wait for the Cannonlake so I can still stay with you guys.

...

Nah I'm joking.
I love you all mates but I love more my future Mac.
Not going to wait further, sorry.

The new Razor Blade looks f*cking amazing. I may just have to replace my 2012 MBP with it and stay up for a whole week straight in attempt to make it run OS X.

Seriously;
2.6GHz 6700HQ
16GB DDR4 2133MHz (Apple's 13in rMBP only uses 1866MHz DDR3)
6GB GDDR5 VRAM (2GB is fine, 4GB is a lot ...)
LIGHTER and THINNER than the 2015 15in rMBP (although it is a 14in laptop)

Apple, you better be scared...
Great specs, nice form factor too. The eGPU over TB3 is a nice touch, really allows for pro level performance when at home or in the office. But Razer lacks Apple's support and obviously OS X, those 2 things are what is most important to me, and I assume many others.

Man that Blade is a nice rig. Free FL studio included too, TB3...ships soon?....:( Skylake MBP, Ships 201x?

 don't let em see you cry, killawat

Same for me but lets keep it real, there will be some hardcore bickering come Saturday-Sunday. There always is. It's amazing what sets people off in this thread; it's like we're hanging out next to a gas leak. #rdy2blow

I want to see video's of us destroying our old Macs à la :)
Parental-advisory-explicit-lyrics.jpg

How about you destroy your Mac this way :p

Oh my mistake. You're just looking really hard for that 10% performance boost.

Oh god, here we go.

Oh but 10% buff to the CPU will. Please do tell. An SSD that is 4 times the speed of the 2012 rMBP is definitely going to be far more noticeable than slight CPU upgrades, but whatever floats your boat. You're a professional so would know more.

Guys, you are getting into the "I'm a professional and it's true because I say that..." terrain. A faster SSD will help on large files loading (like photo/videos editing when you have to work with lot and large files) but will do nothing in other stuff like renders and heavy processing activities (video editing again, 3D design, audio mixing with many tracks, etc).
That said, it's up to everyone to decide if it's worth that 10-20% more CPU power. Some one might not notice it despite being a professional, because he just won't push the processor to its limits, but others will do. When you have to do many renders, 10% means 1h less of rendering every 10h. In that case, tho, you should have gone to a Mac Pro, but that's another discussion.

And you are ignoring the most important gains in newer CPU architectures: the GPU (up to +50% each iteration). And yeah, the iGPU have great processing power to do GPU computing.

EDIT: Damn, AirdanMR already said it. That happens when you answer posts of the page before, before reading them all :D

My Mac just up and threw itself off the table after seeing the specs on that thing :p

All for $1,999 with comparable build quality. This is why I love competition, I'm hoping the stiffer competition means a price drop on the rMBP line. It's also refreshing having PC manufacturers focus on making quality hardware instead of the race to the bottom.

Agreed. However, its too late for this year (if you figure a March or Summer release of new MacBooks). I'm sure Apple already has their new computers in field testing and marketing campaign all ready.

Hopefully we'll see major innovation (or just catch-up ) by next year.

you should check out the "Waiting for Skylake MBA thread" in this forum!
There isn't actually one is there? I couldn't find one.

Let's put things into perspective here. The almighty iPhone only gets updated once every 365 days.

yes, but every 365 days its a pretty major update, at least 730 days there is a complete redesign, and in-between, there is new major cpu upgrade, and new features, cameras, etc.

the macbook pro has not been redesigned since 2012.

Not really... the real number here is 875 days since 23 October 2013

2013 => i7-4750HQ and Iris 5100
2015 => i7-4770HQ and Iris 5200

If you think it has been a real performance improvement going from 4750 to 4770 or from 5100 to 5200 I'm sorry to dissapoint you.

That's the real thing here. And it's really sad for a company like Apple.

what computer are you talking about???

the 2013 13"MBP had Iris 5100
the 2015 13"MBP has Iris 6100

the 2013 15"MBP had Iris 5200 Pro
the 2015 15"MBP has Iris 5200 Pro

lol no.

@cmChimera but force touch and "faster ssd" isn't going to make you more productive, in deed it's not going to give you any difference rather than a "click" feeling if you "upgrade"

faster sad and force touch will make you more productive.

force touch is more than just a click feeling, its like having a third button, like a middle click.
but this would be no different than say a "3 finger click" but its a little simpler and more intuitive.

even if there is not much software that takes advantage of force touch now, in a few years it will be more useful, as with 3douch on the iPhone

I don't care if it is just a spec-bump. The current design beats every other laptops in its similar class. Skylake seems very promising and I really do hope it comes out next week

it's a great design, but honestly much too thick for me to use. I cringe looking at it.

Something did happen... But not in the Apple/Intel-camp. Razer just released their new Razer-Blade info here. This has a 6700HQ and 970m in a 14" package. Aside from the bright green logo it's a good looking machine :).

Doesn't seem to much different from he last model, which I owned. skylake and usb-C both good things, redesigned cooling is much needed.
the trailer for it is sweet!

last years model also had 970m and a broadwell HQ CPU at the same tier.

and I think the green logo is cool =p

UNCONFIRMED: Razer Core will be $500, shipping in april. $400 if bought with a Razer machine (which, if true, is fair).

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...-razer-shipping-500-graphics-add-on-in-april/

Was hoping for $300 but eh. Atleast I can change the color to match the Macbook (if it works, atleast).

$500 is a great price. It is half the price of the $1000 graphics card to thunderbolt enclosures that were available prior.

Intel Vulkan beta drivers posted yesterday.
Not sure what Vulkan is and don't really care, but the listing is different:
https://software.intel.com/en-us/bl...204404-graphics-driver-for-windows-78110-1540
This is the first time Intel has shown Iris Pro 580 and P580 (Xeon) igpu under supported hardware.
I hope it means something!

Well being first to the table you can price your stuff however you like.
They aren't first, Sonnet had these out a good year or 2 ago.

I know its awesome. I had last years model.

But the biggest deal breaker for me is honestly the trackpad. the razor trackpad is good, but just doesn't have the same effect as any macbook trackpad.

Then OS X 2nd. even if I did hackintosh OS X onto it. which I am quite experienced in doing. I like the peace of mind, of being able to get updates normally and install betas normally. and just not have to deal with extra work, when I don't have the time for it.

and even hackintosh, can't get the trackpad to work like a macbook trackpad.

the only non-apple trackpad that I thought was close to as good, was on the chromebook pixel. running chrome OS.

It looks similar to the current MacBook chassis. It's probably compatible with VR. PC may have a comeback, may also win my money this spring. Currently writing this post in Windows 10.

what VR are you referring too? Oculus? Vive? certainly not.

laughed out loud at this. i know exactly what you mean about this thread though. it's like we're a family.

We need to make a thread specifically to post our new skylake hardware once it's out!!

Still no slipping delivery times here in the Netherlands. I guess this doesn't look good!

its not downside for what is meant to be. is for gamers, and if you game, windows is the platform

Razer Blade 2016 looks great in terms of specs, design.
The price for 512 SSD in USA is US$2,199.99 (2016)
The price for 512 SSD in Europe is 3,374.99€. (2015, keep in mind that it is a price for Haswell CPU for Europe)

Prices have taken from http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-blade and http://www.razerzone.com/eu-en/store/razer-blade-2015 today March 16, 2016.

The difference is 1392 EUR (or 1543 USD) for the worse/same machine - no comments really....

Second, as I've read a lot about razer's laptops, the service is lacking and the heating problem was very impactful in 2015' version of Blade. Double minuses for this.

Yup. in the US, the Razer Blade is priced to compete with the 15" rMBP. Here in Europe, it's competing with iMacs and Mac Pros. It's literally priced out of any direct competition. crazy.
