Skylake iPad confirmed?

Pretty much, though it won't have a touch screen. It will come with a keyboard AND trackpad standard, which is cool, but Apple will put the battery and other junk under it then attach it to the iPad.

But the coolest "feature" of the Skylake iPad will be that it runs full OSX.

Forget the MBP, I want a Skylake iPad instead.

Went through the same exact waiting game 5 years ago waiting for the 2010 macbooks. I see nothing has changed. Skylake processors have been out for a while now, why would they wait until June?

The future is new materials instead of silicon. I remember a few years ago there where some experiment from Intel and IBM doing 100ghz and 300ghz CPUs, just by using graphene instead of silicon.
I totally believe it's possible, but it's about the price...

Couple of months ago, there was an article on Anandtech about overclocking Skylake desktop CPUs. As an aside, the author remarked that you could go the watercooling route. Or if you're really up to it, delidding (sp?) the CPU package and use better materials to heat-strap the CPU die to the lid, and close the package again.

And I thought huh?? How can Intel not think of that? Well they thought about it, but then decided against it because it would add a couple of bucks to the price of the CPU.

Released is not the same as having inventory.

Price and cost are always the problem with new tech, just look at SSD a few years ago they were prohibitive, but now they are in allmost every laptop - desktop.

That thing with Intel and the low quality thermal paste was a shame...

269 pages and the best we have is Mark Gurman saying his sources said it was unlikely we'll see a Mac focus at the event

(Which leaves the wiggle room of press release/non-event announcements).

Which is what's concerning. I'm really hoping that Apple just got really good at keeping secrets. Otherwise, we're really screwed and there's truly no update coming in the near future.

Yup i think its all but confirmed we wont see a MBP update in March. Event is 5 days away but not a single sign or hint of an update. Oh well, hopefully there's a redesign in June

Looking at WWDC 2013 - Macrumors didn't have an idea (beyond Apple themselves saying the Mac Pro was getting a refresh that year). Similar with 9to5mac on their rumours all the way up to WWDC keynote.

Yeah. It definitely doesn't increase the possibility but again, Macs are small potatoes and not what rumor sites are focused on, plus they could just stealth refresh it like they often do. Pointless to get frothed up about it.

That's different. The MacPro is manufactured in the US. Much easier to keep secret. Look at the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch. We had leaks of those well in advance. The rMB too.

Mac Pro announcement to release was what, >6 months? No real details prior to the announcement at all of tech specs or design irc.

Same with Apple Watch - ~ 7 months. Both were known to possibly be coming but sketchy details for what they'd look like or tech specs up to the event. Apple Watch got the sketchy CADlike drawings the day before the event.

Happily Retina MacBook 12" was ~ 1 month from announcement to release. Gurman had solid leaks of it about a month before announcement?

Apple never took more than a year to refresh their mbp right?

The 15"? Nope, never, but we are in the midst of the longest time between updates with a June launch being a new extreme. The 13" inch? Eh I think we're at or dangerously close to it being a year.

We are in cold, dark, uncharted waters. Stay thirsty my friends.

Just to speak, which size will you guys choose for you amazing shining new Skylake MBP?
I'll go with the 15".
Even if a little more "heavier" (o_O) than the 13", it's more powerful and I'm reeeeaaally tired of working on a 13" screen.

edit:
Stay thirsty my friends.

I just realized what Steve Jobs meant with "Stay hungry stay foolish."
He knew we would have waited for long time.

The problem is, tablet sales are stagnant, and have been for awhile now.

Even the iPad mini is as portable as the MacBook 12". It doesn't offer anything new except for touch/gestures. The iPad is great for specific one app operations. Selecting areas of a picture or a paragraph of text is much better on a legacy computer at the moment. With pure browsing the iPad is getting stronger, but massive lengths of code and multiple applications open at once, the desktop as we knew it for the last thirty years is the best. I have tried to develop on iOS, but seldom use it for more than correction on the fly or write comments on what to do when I come home to my 32" inch screen/desktop.

My iPhone 6 is doing most of my roadwork now, but when I really need to get down to business I use a stationary hooked up to a big screen. Just put my MacBook 12" for sale. Not really knowing if I will buy another laptop or camera.
