I still remember times where the apple store on a Tuesday went offline and suddenly new products appeared in. Without Keynote. And if it is just a speed bump, theres no need for a Keynote.

Say Apple did eGPU-
That's the cost of a Mac
+ $400 eGPU Razer Core equivalent chassis
+ $ for the GPU card.

Highest end MBPs just got more expensive? And if they did do it, some users might be doing more waiting till the Pascal/Polaris GPUs? Hehe.

Just to speak, which size will you guys choose for you amazing shining new Skylake MBP?
I'll go with the 15".
Even if a little more "heavier" (o_O) than the 13", it's more powerful and I'm reeeeaaally tired of working on a 13" screen.

edit:

I just realized what Steve Jobs meant with "Stay hungry stay foolish."
He knew we would have waited for long time.

15. I'd like the bigger display and extra oomph of the quad core and discrete graphics. Thought about the 27 iMac but takes up too much space unfortunately.

I'm getting rid of my full tower desktop and going to get the razer core and next gen nvidia cards. I won't have to carry around my stupidly huge 27 inch monitor and a full-tower pc every 3 months to change dorms. THank god

Question is if there is a redesign, will Apple show the actual mbp with skylake/ or just a video of them. ..

I'm almost certain they are going to do atleast a general look overhaul, so they have a design continuity across their products. Same speakers as in the MB, colors, most likely smaller bezels, perhaps larger trackpad etc etc.

They have had a VERY long time to sort out the external design for the rMBP. I am possitive that they will give the current design a new twist.

If there is a redesign that doesn't ship on the 21st they will have real production versions on stage and backstage for photos after the show. As far as the internals, we won't know what's in them for certain.

Just went back to the March 2015 presentation and saw that they spent 22 minutes out of 95 on the Mac. And that included introducing the Macbook re-design and Force Touch. I can't imagine they will spend 95 minutes on the iPhoneSE, iPad Pro whatever and new apple watch bands without mentioning Mac at all.

To comment on the Apple store employees, I've stopped asking them anything before official announcements. At best you will get a "you probably know more than me" and at worst they will try to sell you something that will be updated in a matter of days while acting oblivious.

I agree, it does seem like a lot of time to not talk about the Mac. Anyone we spends any time on this forum will probably know more than most Apple retail employees.

The delivery status of 12'' Macbook, 11'' Macbook Air and 13''&15'' retina Macbook Pro in HK have all shifted to Mar. 21.
Yeah I'm starting to see something that looks like slippages here in France. This morning, we had next-day delivery for express deliveries, now express deliveries are shown as "delivered 21/03".

Also, BTO are stated as "delivered 25-30/03"

Take last year's situation for a reference, if we get the nationwide delivery-status change in America on this Friday morning (PST), then everything will be clear.

The current MBP is looking very dated.

The last refresh was very minor (a CPU update and a force touch). The 13" was updated over a year ago with the 13" not far afterwards.

Benchmarks would have been nice though :/

EDIT: forgot to add that Skull Canyon with Iris Pro 580 ships in May 2016

"Besides packing four of Intel’s latest generation Skylake cores, the chip also features Intel’s most powerful graphics core, the Iris Pro 580.

A typical Core i7 or Core i5 CPU with, say, HD 520 graphics, might feature 24 execution units. The Iris Pro 580 features 72 execution units. It also gets a big boost in performance from an ultrafast 128MB of embedded DRAM on the chip.

How much performance does that add up to? On one Skull Canyon NUC we played the new game Just Cause 3 at 1920x1080 resolution, with frame rates in the low- to mid-30s. For PC gamers that’s, well, not great, but for integrated graphics, that’s actually pretty impressive.

"Intel says the bare-bones Skull Canyon NUC (you bring RAM, OS and SSD) should be available as soon as May for $650. Intel said a build with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD plus the OS, should come in at just under $1,000."

-------

This is what I want: a 15" Retina MacBook Pro, featuring Skylake quad Core i7-6770HQ, Iris Pro 580, 512GB SSD, $1999. Sounds like it'd be perfect for light-medium gaming and photo editing, which is what I'd use it for.
