If I may chime in, I bought a Mac because Final Cut Studio was the standard in the entertainment industry and it was only available on a Mac even though the prototype was made for a PC as well, but that's no longer the case since studios and small marketing agencies use either Avid Media Composer and/or Adobe Premiere Pro.
Some studios used Avid before FCS, then changed to FCP7, then back to Avid because FCPX haunted every editor in 2011.
I bought my first mac because of performance. It had better cpu and GPU specs at a lower price than any pc laptop available on the market.
Well, my desktop is a mess. I have 303 files and folders (82GB) on it and have no performance issues. This is early 2008 MBP with old SSD and 6GB of RAM so not a power house either.@Simplicated and @Ovedius thanks for your answers guys!
Nothing big I see, but well the icons is a good one! Probably one of the most annoying things of windows since ever!
I read somewhere that you should not have files on desktop in Mac because it could slow down speed is it true?

Wow, it seems that iGPUs are making a comeback. I used to remember years ago they were a hassle to deal with and every tech geek said to me "buy a dGPU", now you can run anything including Avid/Adobe without a hiccup.
I'm looking forward to see the Iris 580s in action...
And did OSX factor into that, or did you Bootcamp it and buy for the performance specs alone?
Final Cut- That is a sad story indeed. Luckily the (mainly self contained) developers is Logic have been able to keep the pro features going and not follow the FCX path.
It ain't happening.

From what I've heard, it is true. If you don't have an SSD, you'll see it lag on a traditional hard drive. I wouldn't recommend putting my stuff on a desktop even though I know it's convenient. Just put the stuff you're aren't going to use on an external drive. The main drive or system drive is meant for apps and small items only.
However, I would like to hear from other takers on this subject.
Around 1:22pm est Monday, Tim says "I'd like to invite Phil Schiller to the stage to tell you about some exciting changes to our Macbook lineup"
psh, more like 1:24pmAround 1:22pm est Monday, Tim says "I'd like to invite Phil Schiller to the stage to tell you about some exciting changes to our Macbook lineup"
How long is the Apple event going to be?
2 hours?
I've got a feeling that Timmy will do the but wait there's one more thing and it'll be watch bands that are rainbow colored. And a rainbow colored MBP they'll call it a rMBP.
has anyone pointed out that the skull canyon NUC is out with iris 580 pro? shipping in may??!?!?!

lol my bad, thought i did a better job obsessing on this threadYeah we've been talking abou it
if apple pull a 'one more thing' off without a single leak, I'll be damned.

Is the Mac Pro release the only time they've done that? Since its US built?
