I can see their vision about replacing laptops with more portable devices.
It is appealing, but it will take years before it can be reality.... until then it would be nice if they kept supporting people who actually need real computers and laptops to work, study, code etc...

I don't find it appealing but am not opposed to it if they can pull it off right.

Right now the only way they can do that (that I can imagine) is if they make an announcement similar to "The newest iPad Pro runs our OSX operating system and now comes with a built in keyboard and accurate track pad, encased in a stable design that allows you place it on your lap or desk and type without the need to touch its new beautiful display..."

I think they will update the macs as silent updates.....no more announcements at these events except when they redesign a product or a whole new product like with the 12" macbook.

I was hoping for a new mbpr today but will wait untill WWDC to see what happens.

This is the front of the dutch Apple store.
"De PC voorbij. Nu in twee maten" has two meanings. It means: iPad's passed the pc, in two sizes.
(Passed in the sence of a race)

Or, PC's are done/over. Now get an iPad, available in two sizes. Implying that it's replacing PC's.

Unfortunately, I think they mean both.
It means that future market in 90% will be BGA type. Tablets, NUC's, All-in-Ones, laptops. That is mainstream. Only way you will be able to buy custom build PC, which Tim and Apple relates in their Post-PC era advertising, is workstation parts.

It does not mean that computers are going to be phased out. Post PC era means getting rid of custom built of computers. Nothing more, nothing less.

Anyone know any good PCs that can substitute a 13" rMBP? I looked at the Surface Pro 4, Spectre and XPS and all lacked in some way (bugs in Surface, general lack of precision on the Spectre, and poor build of XPS).

Kinda depressing thinking we have to do this wait all over again... I was like almost literately throwing money at my screen during the keynote... I even froze for e second during the last minutes, thinking there was going to be an One More Thing. But boy, did Tim **** me over...

ehhHHhhH... what's going on here.... Been waiting to pull the plug on a 15" rMBP for months now, but can't justify it with an impending upgrade (RIGHT?)......

Who knows, maybe it's time to another player to jump in the market of the notebooks. Xiaomi, maybe? There's a gap to be filled.

I've got a legit question. I'm based in the US currently.

If I buy a MacBook Pro from a retailer, (i.e. Apple Store, Best Buy, Amazon, etc.) and I return it within the 14/30/45/x amount of days within policy for a refund, can I just buy it again and rinse and repeat?

Or is that just evil? I will accept shunning as appropriate feedback.

Unfortunately it isn't as simple as that, demand can be manipulated through advertising, after you have built up enough brand loyalty, there really isn't much of a need to be as innovative as before. People jump at new apple products with gimmicky new features, they still sell like hotcakes, there isn't a lot of incentive, their focus now is primarily advertising. The macbooks will receive their update because it is a pretty simple process anyway, the new hardware whether it is USB C, polaris or skylake chips isn't their own.

i wonder if 2hours are enough for WWDC to introduce iOS10 and OSX. and all the redesign 13" and 15" Macbook pro. Updates for the macbook and mac mini, and thunderbolt displays ?!
I mean will be a nice first event to the new campus with all of these

You can but Amazon and Best buy will for sure ban you after a few attempts especially with a higher priced item such as this.

Depressing news to say the least...

Seems pretty clear, Apple always wants to be at the forefront of future trends. They always want to do this prematurely, way before they should. It appears the iPad is set to replace all Mac laptops. According to Apple, they are fast approaching laptop status, and already have in their minds. They further emphasize the keyboard to simulate/replace a laptop if need be. Seems apparent the desktop is still needed, since they did not mention it. Most likely it will be manufactured in the iMac form only. The next event might be the last time the portable Macs are updated. And when you think about it, it would have been foolish to announce laptops when they just slammed laptops at the same event. And they might even feel it is foolish to announce them in the future because they already made this statement.

I'd assume so. My MBP has shown ever further age today @ work (more graphical issues), I'm just trying to buy time until the redesign happens.

Didn't Best Buy used to have like a 90day program where they'd buyback any hardware that got updated within 90/x days of purchase? Anyone?
