To me, it was painfully obvious that they are making the move away from notebook computers and going full bore into tablets.

Yeah, they'll probably update a couple items from their current line one or two more times... but the entire iPad portion of this keynote seemed like it was specifically addressing the success of the Surface Pro and Surface Book.

Sorry, Apple... but as a daytime graphic designer and a weekend warrior musician/stuido wannabe-type-dude, I am not interested in giving up my laptop until you give the iPad an OS that can run Reaper, or the entire Creative Cloud suite, or whatever else I need, etc.

Been waiting TWO YEARS for a rMBP update... I've had cash in my pocket, ready to pull the trigger, and I'm tired of waiting.

Good point. + AMD's Polaris GPUs may be ready by then as well.

Exactly my thinking. I think WWDC for new Macs with Skylake and Polaris GPU for the high end.

If its Skylake and no new GPU now or Polaris in June, I'd rather Polaris in June.

Clearly it's an analogy for how Apple will be ******* on us with their lack of innovation. Notice what looks like poop (happens to rhyme with loop) coming out of (the) Apple's ass.

Yes, I'm feeling pessimistic...
What did I tell you guys.

**** it, I just ordered a Dell laptop with Skylate Intel i7 and a good gaming graphics card. It will do until the new rMBP's are released in 3 months...

Meh I don't know anymore. What's the point in buying their next refresh if they believe ipad is the future. Why would I want to buy a product they will not give their full attention?

so is the non-retina MBP still in the store user-upgradeable?

You bought a laptop with an HDD? Have you lost your mind?!

It's 2016 for crying out loud.

Those Dell Laptops usually are easily accessible for user-upgrades!

I love the "who cares about exercise" comment. ROFL:D:cool:

I bought an iPhone to control my life from my bed. People ask me for my passport whenever they find me in the sofa.

Waiting for iToilet and iChef.

I put my MacBook 12" for sale a week before the event. No serious offers even though I put the asking price in the lower tier. I guess laptops are becoming a fetish for the keyboard crowd.

Damn. I felt bad for you guys when I saw they didn't do the refresh. Though it makes me happy that I jumped on the 2015 MacBook Pro last December.

Yeah... No. The March announcement isn't happening.

Apple did it before at the Spring Forward 2015 event. Redesigned MacBooks right along side the hot new Apple Watch. The products you list are already established....an entire keynote about a thinner AW, a thinner iPad Air and a smaller iPhone can easily be rounded out by announcement of a thinner rMBP (or more powerful, or whatever). WWDC can be reserved for for Mac Pro and iMac updates.

Even better. We're basically in uncharted waters with the 13" but looking at it from two different perspectives. The fact remains, in the past 10 years of MBP -> rMBP development (not including the non retina 13" MBP which is supplanted by the 13" rMPB), there has never been a full year between updates. While some are are passing off June dates as if its the obvious answer but fail to realize that it would be an unprecedented length of time for the entire product line. For the 15", since Apple releases are within a year, Theres no reason they can't be in March or April. May is unlikely and June, like I said, would be unprecedented..

Lets just agree to disagree. See you in March :).

Well, seeing as it is March ... Where are the Skylake Macs you were SO sure were going to be announced? :D

Not much. iPad Pro 9.7 inch, iPhone SE and NO MACS. They could've spent the first 25 minutes on it, but they had to talk about the environment, which is great and i praise apple for it, but it's something they could've said at WWDC. *sigh*

Yeah I saw the both the comments starting on this page (303-current) and the replies to my question. Thank You. :)

Judging by the comments and the hilarious replies on this thread, it was a snoozefest...

One dude on this thread "hated the exercise" segment and the other fell asleep in the middle of the live stream.

My Frustration:
I've been following this thread for quite some time now, and I finally created an account because I just had to get my frustration off my chest. I, too, like many others here, have been waiting patiently for a refresh on the 15" with at least some basic level of future-proofing. Hell, Apple could have even given us Broadwell with one USB Type-C port and I bet a good majority of us would have jumped on it, even without Skylake or DDR4 RAM. I've pretty much just been sitting here with my credit card in hand, ready to buy whatever refresh Apple was willing to provide, given the horribly outdated specs on the current machines. Ok, now that I've vented my frustration, I am trying to understand why Apple would snub the entire professional community without so much as a mention of the word laptop.

My Theory:
We've been telling Apple for months now that all we wanted to hear in this keynote speech was at least an upcoming refresh to the MBP lines, allowing us to patiently wait another few months before making our purchase. But, Apple wants us to spend money now. Therefore, I believe Apple intentionally created uncertainty with its MBP lineups to tempt enough power users into pulling the trigger on the new iPad Pro. From Apple's perspective, there are two possible outcomes:

Best-case scenario:
Power users are completely satisfied with the iPad Pro and Apple continues its vision of eradicating the laptop form factor.

Worst-case scenario:
Power users are completely dissatisfied with the iPad Pro, and they just end up buying the newly designed MBPs after WWDC.

Either way, it's a win-win for Apple.

ehhHHhhH... what's going on here.... Been waiting to pull the plug on a 15" rMBP for months now, but can't justify it with an impending upgrade (RIGHT?)......

I'm in the same boat except this would be my first MBP and I don't want to buy one now and then in a few months they release an updated one. It is killing me but I am holding off. I already had my iPhone, iPad, AppleTV, Mac Mini, etc just want a notebook now.

Anyone got an old MBP that will run El Capitan then want to donate? LOL

You mean the iCrap.

I'm sure you're waiting for the iSuck vacuum...

One dude on this thread "hated the exercise" segment and the other fell asleep in the middle of the live stream.

Steve Jobs created computers for the power users by power users. Tim Cook has a much more mainstream approach. The Watch is still just in version 1.0. The new bands is simply gimmicky and look like they came out of a bubble gum and plastic egg machines. I want to switch to the iPad Pro, but right now it is too "consumerist" to depend on.

I don't care if Jobs is turning in his grave, but I'm no longer in love with Apple. The updates today was just rebranding and spec bumps. Apple is turning into Leica. Once known for innovation, now it is just living off the legacy of photographers who died before I was born (80s). Partnering with Hermes, releasing special editions and only offer a small group of hobbyist a design they can talk about with friends and family.

I guess computing has come a long way. Maybe to the extent that it is no longer necessary to increase performance. It's all about fashion, taste and "features".
