Sweet jesus. Been following this thread for two years now, ever since I bought my first rMB back in 2014. And like some before me, just made an account now, out of pure frustration.

Mind blown....

Shouldn't they at least cut the prices of the current rMB's? I mean for crying out loud... they raised the prices by 200 for just a minor spec bumb... a year ago!

Don't mind me though... I'll be back in the corner of the shower, curled up with a scouring pad.
I feel dirty and used.

I am in a bad situation, need a OSX based computer before June 5th. I have been waiting for new redesigned MBP since March 2015 So I cant wait till WWDC.

how many of you think that there will be new MBP before June.
and what do you suggest me to buy, I mean mac mini ,macbook, MBP?

If you can't wait I'd just buy one now... don't think there is anybody in the world except for apple themselves that knows what's going on.

On what to buy, entirely depends on your needs of course. Not much to info to give a suggestion man.

I wonder if rMB will get a speed bump as a press release after the 9.7" iPad Pro has some breathing room. To release that product and not give it the chips that have been available for months, or the price decrease that we all know it deserves doesn't make any sense. That machine isn't going to be redesigned. Why wait for WWDC?

Was obvious that they wouldn't talk about Macs once it was confirmed that the iPad would be iPad Pro rather than Air 3. You would think we will see new MBPs at WWDC, not sure what this means for the Mac line longer term though. Seems clear where Apples focus is. How many times have we heard "We see the iPad as the future of personal computing.." line recently?

To me, it was painfully obvious that they are making the move away from notebook computers and going full bore into tablets.

All because they went an event without updating the Pros? They literally introduced a new laptop design just last year, and the update to the Pros is coming mate, wait until WWDC - not an event who's subtitle related to watch bands.

Crikey, MacRumours gets worse every event - somehow unless Apple updates literally every product within each major events (March, WWDC, Sept), people find a way to moan about it. Chill a bit, you don't have to spend any of your money.

If you can, I would wait until April/May. There's a good chance Apple will refresh at least part of the lineup before WWDC. There's no reason to think WWDC is "the big day." An update could drop at any time over the next couple months.

Steve Jobs created computers for the power users by power users. Tim Cook has a much more mainstream approach. The Watch is still just in version 1.0. The new bands is simply gimmicky and look like they came out of a bubble gum and plastic egg machines. I want to switch to the iPad Pro, but right now it is too "consumerist" to depend on.

I don't care if Jobs is turning in his grave, but I'm no longer in love with Apple. The updates today was just rebranding and spec bumps. Apple is turning into Leica. Once known for innovation, now it is just living off the legacy of photographers who died before I was born (80s). Partnering with Hermes, releasing special editions and only offer a small group of hobbyist a design they can talk about with friends and family.

I thought Leica was still innovating even after Panasonic bought Leica's stake from what I've read...I don't remember all the details. The only thing I know about Leica, is that they're legendary...that's all. My family still loves Leica because the lens defines the current Leica and Panasonic digital products.

From what I looked in the slideshow on the Macrumors site, the watchbands looked awful . I don't like iPads and will never use 'em. I'll just buy the SurfaceBook, SurfacePro, or the Galaxy tablet.

Not to chicken little everyone, but maybe MBPs will end up falling into the same camp as the Mac Pro where updates will only come every couple of years if that.

Before Intel MacBooks, the only real Mac out there was the Mac Pro. Then came the MacBook Pro, and it was a good enough laptop, slowly outpacing the Mac Pro as the desired computer for professionals. Now we are facing the same situation with the MacBook Pro / iPad Pro.

Maybe my kids will like it, but I'm old and love mouse/keyboard.

Ummm... new design?

I don't consider the addition of a "force touch" track pad to totally outdated hardware an update. That's hilarious.

I've been waiting for a new processor for Over two years now. Yeah, some of that time was Intel's fault, but Mac's competitors are now already over 6 months into Skylake integration. By the time WWDC happens, Apple will be close to a YEAR behind the competition... with a brand new release!

And this is just speculation... nobody can even say for sure what will happen at WWDC. Maybe it won't even be until October. I'm certainly not waiting to be disappointed again.

I've waited patiently long enough. Time to give my money to a company who actually seems interested in staying ahead of the curve where it counts... not just with superficial feature changes.

Yep. Apple are falling behind.

The "iPad Pro" looks faddish and hacky. It's as if they tacked on a keyboard as a stop-gap measure and/or to demonstrate the OS convergence. How that can/will work in practice remains to be seen.

So no new Macbook Pro means it will be an especially long gap in between major MBP updates. Skylake is already out and could have been added - but still nothing. From this data I infer that the reason there wasn't a new MBP today is because with the next model that is released YES there will be a major redesign!

It sounds like the Macs are being discontinued and Apple will be known as "The Portable Company" and no longer "The Computer Company".

If that's the case, 2016 or 2017 will be the last time we'll see a Mac again...

The iPad can't run Adobe and Avid. You need real power to run those apps.

I have owned and still own Leica products. They are certainly appealing with their brass camera bodies, the retro look and the heroic lineup of old timers who are still marketing from the grave like Capa and Bresson. In fact Capa seldom used a Leica camera, and he didn't use one when capturing the famous pictures from d-day. I use the camera to document my family and friends. For journalistic work I use a Nikon, and for commercial it's better to rent a top end camera and pay somebody else to do the post processing. At the end of the day a iPhone snap published to Instagram may have bigger impact for a client than a $100000 budget picture taken with a $20000 camera.

I think my kids will maybe never use a DSLR or edit their content on a traditional laptop. Doing so will just be a step backward to chase nostalgia from the older generation. I've moved back to desktop for my professional work, and don't mind using a baseline MacBook 12" to edit a dusin of 100MB RAWs every day. I think the MacBook will be my last laptop.

My point is that the technology that was expensive when the MacBook Pro launched ten years ago is now in the hands of every teenager. Nikon D2X (2005) in low light is about as good or worse than the iPhone. The Core Duo from Intel is crap compared to the A9X in the latest iPad Pro. 2mbit ADSL can't even be compared to the ease and speed from 4G+ mobile broadband.

The iPhone is actually the first computer I bring with me everywhere at any time. I don't know if I am going to continue being a dinosaur waiting for Skylake or simply bite the Apple in the new garden.

I'm so sick of the "my MBP will be outdated in June because KabyLake" argument.

The Skylake 6770/6870/6970's aren't in ANY computers yet. Do you want Apple to make MBPs now, or wait to release them when there is a sizable increase in performance?

My prediction: WWDC for new MBPs, and an increasingly long update cycle from here on.

As much as I hope this theory is completely wrong, I wonder if Apple got pissed off at Intel for all the delays and decided to stop using Intel chips in all their devices.

Wow, thank you for sharing. :)

The funny thing is I still use a DSLR (not an expensive one, but a 2013 mid-grade Nikon digital film camera) and Point-Shoot camera for taking pictures and I'm in my late 20s. You would expect me to move on to the teen realm but I do everything 90s style. I don't have Instagram but maybe eventually I will someday. I hate posting things online.

I'm a video editor and I'm happy that I like to do complex stuff because it's exciting. If it's too simplistic and I get frustrated.

If I have kids, I'm going to make them buy a laptop, desktop, and a smartphone.

Guys, I know that you are upset, that you cannot upgrade your computers, but... How can Apple update them if they do not have everything that they want to put into them? 15 inch cannot be updated because there is no CPU in wide availability, and there is no dGPU that is available to put into MBP that Apple would want to put there.

13 inch - they have hardware, but decided to not update it now, they will do it maybe in two-three months time. Who knows, what are the reasons?

Mac Mini, Mac Pro, Macbook Air - every single computer is waiting for update. Looks like Apple has huge reasons to not update today and wait with them for future. Who knows?

P.S. It is genuinely ridicule to complain that you cannot get your hands on a computer, when people in Syria, or other parts of the world where is war are struggling more than you.

By that rule, only the person struggling the most in the entire world could complain.

28W CPU was in a computer in February/January? (the vaio z) and the Iris 580 pro was announced in the skull canyon a week ago and will be released in a little over a month. I think people's frustration comes from the fact that Apple could have made their macbook line up a priority for this event but they didnt. And we saw signs of this a while back with the lack of rumors. Its pretty simple that their computer lineup really isn't their gravy train anymore and thats frustrating for the lot of us that want a new computer that won't be a giant waste in a couple months.

And I like to think most people in here letting off their frustration are simultaneously grateful for the opportunities in life that they have. Just yesterday I needed to go to the pharmacy at 3 in the morning, and was so appreciative that I didn't even have to think twice about that access.
