A bit off topic, but can anyone confirm that the retina screen peeling issue has been fixed? Looking back on some threads from 2015 and earlier it was a huge problem. Is this something that has been corrected during the build process or Apple will just fix it when it eventually happens to you?

I still can't believe a 2k+ laptop literally has the screen peeling off within months.

its clear we don't get an MBP upgrade until WWDC. the only mac that can be silent updated is the 12" Macbook

Simply making them available in all the colours would be enough of a redesign for my liking. I know they will make them more akin to the rMB design... but just saying. I hadn't really thought what a rMBP would look like in gold until now... Actually would consider one against the space grey now. Thanks for posting!

I kinda like them, but...
Rose gold it's so weird, and those angles at the top of the screen are like a punch in my eye.
Hope Apple will do a better job than your. :p

OT: I've noticed that in this forum (or at least in this thread) mods and administrators are not very present.
Why so? Are we really this kind and polite? :D

Apple OS's drive Apple hardware sales, not the hardware itself. If they were another manufacturer of Windows or Android devices, they would have been out of business years ago. Given the Eco system they have developed, they are free to take their sweet ass time on the hardware technology side. And their ego doesn't help either. I have been on Mac for a long time and like their stuff, but other platforms and hardware are quickly eroding what Apple has built. All in the name of portable devices and iOS. But I get it, the younger audience is where the money is. I'm beginning to wonder if they wouldn't do away with all notebooks/desktops in favor of concentrating only on mobile devices over the next ten years.

Just wondering/hoping since we have waited sooooo long if they will have the touch/pen ability of the Surface book and others.

It won't...but I wish it would.

The thing being, if I were to buy a Surface Book or Lenovo Yoga P40 or something it would take out two apple products in one fell swoop...as I wouldn't buy an iPad pro as my drawing device either...

That would mean, finally a proper OS for iPad Pro
Doesn't really make sense for the current Macbook lineup though.

I guess the question we all should ask is: what else CAN they do for PCs? Thinner? Marginally. Better battery life? Just a bit. Smaller bezels? Sure...

But what else is there? Speed is dependent on Intel, and the good Skylake chips aren't out yet (6_70's). What else do the competitors offer? Two-in-ones? A gimmick in my opinion. 4K screens? Battery hogs for minimal improvement.

What I'm saying is: we've reached a point in technological development where the only innovations are gimmicks. And that applies to desktops and laptops just as much as it does to phones and tablets. People who focus on smaller products are just as frustrated as we are! Because technological development is slowing down across the board. Moore's Law is falling apart.

Get used to it. If you want a new computer every year you'll be wasting your money on incrementally small incremental upgrades.

Otherwise, put your big kid pants on and wait 90 more days for a computer which SHOULD last you well into the next 5 years.

Well if you are just web browsing, youtube, watching movies then both mac & pc do same thing. However, when it comes to running different software there are some difference. For Mac, for example like FINAL CUT PRO is one of their highly praised applications when it comes to editing which is only exclusive for OS X. While for me I like to run graphic intense programs such as solidworks, AUTOCAD, and stuff like that... there are some programs that are just available to PC and same goes for OS X.

Considering the 2015 MBP with the i7-4980HQ 2800 CPU outperforms every Mac in CPU benchmarks save the most recent iMac (or Mac Pros with 6, 8 or 12 cores), I seriously doubt that it couldn't handle any cross-platform application thrown at it with the exception of applications that require desktop-class GPUs. If, on the other hand, you can't stand purchasing hardware that doesn't have the most up-to-the-minute chips in them, then you have a point.

Many people on tech forums don't think it's possible to get work done on any hardware that's isn't the top-speced model from less than a year ago. Meanwhile, the rest of the world does wonderful complex things on computers that are routinely over 3 years old...

... the space between the keys, the illumination
I find the space between the keys essential to comfortable typing.
I absolutely loathe the horrible keyboard layout of the new 12" MacBook.
The short key travel doesn't bother me but the god awful iPad-like key shape and spacing is just a nightmare to type on.

If a redesigned Pro copies the keys from the MacBook I'm not getting one in a million years. Garbage.

i said from design point of view
and the only problem you may have with the 12" is the travel and not the space between. i type on both but i really love to have the key bigger like it is in the 12" than empty space

...The fact that I can use iMessage on my phone or my 'puter, is really great...

That was one of the biggest reason I didn't want to switch over fully to Windows. But then I figured out that Pushbullet works similarly (though not as smoothly) as iMessage and allows me to text and receive messages between my PC and iOS device. The other aspects of continuity weren't as important to me (i.e. receiving calls on my computer, etc...), but having this feature available was big.

I think they've already acknowledged that problem with the Apple Magic Keyboard. I used it at an Apple Store, and it looked identical to the new MacBook keyboard, however instead of a butterfly mechanism, it had a redesigned scissor mechanism. To be honest, it had reasonable travel, comparable to the current rMBP, and also retained that stability of the new rMB keys - no more "wobbly" keys. I feel that's the keyboard they'll integrate into the new lineups, and I'll be fine with that. Spacing on the Apple Magic Keyboard feels fine as well, and I think that's partly due to more travel, and mostly due to a reduced key cap size.
