LOL I just came back to the MacRumors Buyers Guide, and is sadder than ever.

Let's hope than those OSX references really mean something...

Are they trying to tell us something?

I'm really confused what is making people think the 13" model isn't going to get the 28w chip?!

The 28Watt Chip exclusively has the Iris 550 iGPU, which is the only GPU that appears to be missing in the data dump linked.

Isn't number 3 on the list the iris 550?

Now if we really get to dreaming how about 45w in the 13" and xeon in the 15" ;)

Looks like he updated the article. Wasn't there previously.

The comment about the geekbench results from January now makes a lot more sense since this 3.3 GHZ 28w part is exactly what was show in that benchmark.

I don't understand what is going on. How are we getting thinner MacBooks but more powerful integrated graphics? Unless they change the 13" -> 14" and the 15" -> 16", how are they going to pull this off? I'm interested to see how they do this. Unless the thinner MacBooks that were mentioned recently are not Pros at all and something else. I don't know. I JUST DON'T KNOW!

Apple doesn't need to make a bigger laptop (myth which started in this forum since apparently they can't use odd numbers anymore, yet every credible source points to 13, and 15 inches). Intel's job was exactly that, reduce power consumption with their new node and revamp the architecture. That's how you get a more powerful iGPU. These GPUs are more efficient and powerful than previous ones.

Well id say more of a wish than a myth :p and i think it was more the fact that Apple wouldnt have to make a bigger laptop. Just cut on the bezel size, and you could get 14 and 16 with the same form factor. Also given that Apple has OCD 11 - 12 - 13 - 15 doesnt sound right, so they might as well make 12-14-16 which im sure is within their technological abilities :)

Redesign lover here.

Yes that is correct. the 950M actually uses just over 50W I heard.

Therefore makes sense to use Iris Pro, because same or better performance. And much less power consumption, and heat, and size.

However, if Apple was to wait for Polaris/Pascal. Then it would make sense to use those, since they will have even faster performance and DX12 support

Is there any chance of Apple using a GPU above the 950M or does nothing exist within an acceptable TDP?
