Apple already sells an $80 adapter hub for the rMB. If you read the reviews, you'll see that it barely works. USB hard drives that require power won't work. As soon as the MacBook is unplugged, any USB devices stop charging. And worst of all, HDMI doesn't work properly for many people because it can only push 1080p at 30Hz. What?? Even worse, OS X is so locked down that it often won't accept anything other than the default resolution of attached monitors, which -- if it's 60hz, means HDMI won't work at all.

That cannot happen in a Pro laptop.

You won't have to worry about any of that with the rMBP's.

Iris 580 is more than powerful enough to be paired to a highres&high framerate monitor. + TB3 will also be able to pass through immense power.

The only problem people could run into is if OSX doesn't support a certain monitor/driver/resolution. (Which is usually rare)
[doublepost=1459350267][/doublepost]To calm all the heat that's been in these past few pages, here's a classical music piece I discovered yesterday. Highly suggest listening:

A caresse to the ears.

To be fair, I can easily see Apple's point of view on this being as follows:
We believe everything will use the USB-C connector in the future. We'll implement the most up-to-date interface, and provide an adaptor that allows you to connect your old, dusty HDMI2/USB-A/etc. equipment to your shiny Pro laptop. Plus, it's almost guaranteed that within 3-5 years, this will become an edge-case, rather than the prevailing majority.

Problem solved.

Personally, I don't have a single piece of USB-C equipment, but i'm fine with USB-C already, because in my mind i'll just use an adaptor (or Apple-made USB hub or whatever) to connect my stuff to my laptop. No biggie.

My thoughts as well. Even till today I walk around with a displayport-vga adapter and tb-ethernet in my bag. I would change that to usbc dock that includes the vga/ethernet/usba ports I need. They're relatively cheap and widely available. Here's an example (searched usb c dock on amazon):

Hootoo HT-UC001 3 Ports Shuttle USB 3.1 Type C Hub with Power Delivery for MacBook 12 Inch and ChromeBook Pixel

Even Dell has a nice one (though I'm not sure if it'd work with a Mac):
Dell Adapter, USB Type C to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB (470-ABQN)

seems that this will come close to the real deal. like the concept of the 12" macbook
but i would like not to be in this shape of macbook air or new 12" macbook. to maintain the even thickness from top to bottom but slimmer. to have 2 key designs
i bet the front facing speakers from the 15" will kill us since the 12" macbook and 12.9" ipad pro are very quality and loud speakers in such a small chassis

What are thoooosee??!

I like the sketch. Although i HIGHLY doubt apple will make the keyboard like that. It's an eyesore + if they just kept it where the current keyboard is, they could make a much larger trackpad.

I've personally never been a great fan of the slanted design but if they make the new rMBP's powerful enough not to make Ableton crash, I can't be mad.

Tbh a slightly tapered (not as tapered as the Air or rMB) rMBP would be a welcomed decision for me. After long hours of use, the sharp edges of the rMBP really edge into the ends of my palms, and it can get quite annoying.

Most of those limitations are due to the fact the rMB doesnt use Thunderbolt. A Thunderbolt USB-C port easily fixes every single one of those issues.

some really nice concepts for the next MBPs

Come on, Apple!

So... The 3.5mm headphone port...

Ok, so the rumor which started all of this discussion was one which simply said Apple was looking to use the Lightning port on new iPhones for audio.

Then people INFERRED that that meant Apple was removing the 3.5mm port on the iPhone 7. This is debatable, despite being copied by every blog/rumor mill on the web. Just because someone can press copy and paste doesn't make something true.

But how in the world does that rumor translate to the MBP? Nobody is suggesting they're going to remove all audio-out via cable on the MBP, right? So...

Unless you believe Apple is adding a Lightning port to th MBP, the suggestion that Apple would remove the 3.5mm jack is just ridiculous.

So let's stop feeding this notion, ok?
Yep. Another important thing is that the MBP 3.5 mm port is also a toslink optical out! Meaning that it's not just about headphones.. It'll stay.

For all those looking for an elegant, sleek looking machine, with top performing components for 3d content creation and video editing, and are tired of Apple's sub-par graphics cards and infatuation with slow performing, slim looking battery champions.............http://www.evga.com/articles/00982/evga-sc17-laptop/.........
just saying.....

Ya that 8lb mammoth is totally comparable to a MBP. /s
2 completely different classes of laptop.
If you're buying an MBP expecting an excessively powerful, permanently plugged in, lap melting beast, you're doing it wrong.

Very true! A slight angle and roundness would be nice for the long hours

Oh god. Those concepts with the keyboards in the middle, do not want.
you want macs with the keyboard to the right or to the left?

its an 17" laptop, if apple was still making a MBP with 17" ? i don;t think would be very far away, maybe 7lb so

Haha, by Jove that's hideous.
Bahaha!

The day someone makes a gaming laptop (OXYMORON ALERT) with as much as a sliver of sophistication in its design is the day pigs have to circle the airport in Hell 'cause they're buried under fifteen feet of pure white snow.

What??

I guess you haven't seen this http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade or it's little brother http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade-stealth .

Both absolutely stunning and sophisticated designs. The Blade is a perfectly capable gaming machine and the Stealth is an amazing ultrabook with gaming capabilities (in combination with the Core).

even the next 12" macbook or the next MBP will support the razer core through thundrbolt 3

USB-C does not resolve this issue:

Every HD monitor and television, wherever you go or wherever you happen to be working, has an HDMI connector. Fewer than 1% have USB-C. This will continue to be the case. A "Pro" laptop should not be difficult to connect to displays.

People like you were whining similarly when Apple ditched DVD drives from the portable computing lineup.

HDMI is a good standard. Unfortunately they omitted power from the design. It's also not reversible. It's bandwidth is lower and unlike USB-C it's restricted to video only.

HDMI is not fit for future needs. The MBP is about the future, not suiting the current masses with their Dells, their Microsoft PCs, their "smart" TVs and what not. Apple leads. Others follow. It's always been that way. If you don't understand this, then save yourself $1000 and go call a Dell tele-sales rep who'll get you a good deal! You'll be happier and the Apple community will be cleaner. The last thing the Apple dev community needs is a load of fat 40 year-old C# and Java programmers flooding in looking to "do things the way we've always done things".

You shouldn't put words into others' mouths just to push your own skewed and biased agenda. Unless you are secretly Jonny Ive and trying to sound out actual design elements for the upcoming model, please keep the sharing of your opinions nice and friendly (ie. say that you would like for these ports to be removed, or that you would be happy if they were); subsequently, let others have their own opinions, too, without putting their ideas down. Bullying people on a forum is not going to make one iota of difference to Apple, who will do whatever they believe will make them money - not what YOU think will make them money.

Wow. What a weiner post.

Apple really care about you and your legacy peripherals and your 1 MB/sec SD card collection containing your holiday snaps.

The MBP is for high performing people who operate at or near the cutting edge. From what I've read from you and the silly accusations you're throwing around, the cutting edge isn't for you. Your place is elsewhere.

Exactly what future is this? The one where everyone's projectors and TV's magically sprout USB-C connectors? By the time that happens (if ever) none of us will be running a 2016 MBP any more.

Dude. You need to go.

Go somewhere and take a close look at your life. Because something needs to be seriously messed up for you to end up posting that kind of stupid tripe in a forum discussing a mere consumer product that people are excited about.

Hello boys.
Here we go again.
As much as I don't like Oppenheim behavior, somehow I like his crazy talking.
I mean, as long as we don't take him seriously, we have sometime funny to do while we still wait.

The MBP is about the future
Yeah, it's so futuristic it still sports some three years old cpus. Aaaaand a rebranded three years old cpu.
So future. Good job, Apple!

You have to decide, man. It's for professional?
Or it's for future?
Or for those operating at the edge?
(for all of you who actually operate at edge: please do be careful not to fall down!)
Apple really care about you
Pssst, I'm sorry to be to one that say it, but Apple really does not care even about you, Opp.

So, while we wait and read your interesting posts, would you mean to explain all of us what's the use you made of your computer, and consequently why you hate so much those ports you want to eliminate?
Thank you.

Operate at or near the cutting edge? I've never been so far out on a computer before. Don't forget to get the Dell Sales Rep dictionary at Amazon for half price throughout March.
