Guys, in the Internet you can read that Intel announced a new storage technology, its called "Intel Optane" and maybe its come in the new MBP 2016! If this is true, forget Skylake, this is the real ****! Its 1000 times faster than actual ssd's and 10 times faster than ram. This would be amazing

i think we will have to wait way longer before 3d-xpoint will come to consumer technology.
if the performance claims will hold true, the the will be just too high and the adoption will begin with big data servers, high performance workstations, etc..
remember how expensive were ssd 8-10 years ago?
i might well be wrong, but i'd expect the technology to come to laptops not before 2020, so in time for the next redesign in macbooks :p (or maybe by then we will be using only ipad pros...)

This is an ugly laptop
The two usb c are too close one from the other

There are three USB-C ports here (two of which support Thunderbolt) and a headphone jack.
And hey.. HP put 3 and not 1 USB as in 12 Macbook. Also the price is lower a bit. Other specs are better, some of them are lower. But yes i think they have beaten this macbook.

Jeah. But wasnt that obvious? I mean the MacBook was released in 2015. The Spectre in 2016. Its a year later. Better wait what Apple will provide this year. Even though I think I will be pretty much disappointed about Apples lineup.
I'm glad I decided to wait till end of 2016 with buying a new notebook. I guess my MBA 11" 2011 is getting me pretty well through this hard time of waiting :)

Same situation, bought a 2014 MBA to carry me till the new MBP comes out.

By the way, I've read the new Spectre from HP has the same autonomy than the MB, but carrying also an i5/i7, with a thinner design. How is that?

that spectre open up its looking like an iPad with keyboard support or an mini all-in-one dekstop

And despite looking like an iPad, it's a computer with a computer CPU, not a tablet oriented CPU like the MB has.
you know you are speaking about a product that still not released. it will be nice, but i bet the battery is not near the 9.5h, i think will be hot like every HP i had in the past. ergonomics are out of the question. with OS i don't care because i use them both. but common i think most of people will buy surface book than this
its the most beautiful product HP made, but still behind MP or suraface book
they used same combo with some gold keys with black base, but too much black

We saw how Dell claimed the XPS had decent battery life.

So Intel helped with the hyperbaric pressure fan idea - wonder if others will be using this too. And how well it'll cope with dust - one thing the rMacBook doesn't have to worry about.

Unfortunately they are not selling anything with their Broadwell/Haswell stuff

But they ARE selling Haswell/Broadwell based laptops, and doing pretty well by the sounds of it. Not all users are so desperate to be buying leading edge technology.

Just got a new 15" MBP..... that should just about ensure new models are now announced within the next few days :)

Thanks you for your service.

Actually i wouldnt mind buying the Broadwell 13" Retina if it was properly priced based on the age of the used technology. With Skylake around the corner it makes no sense to still pay the premium price.

Guys, I have the answer to all your problems.

I have done extensive back logging and research that has lead me to this conclusion.

All your rMBP update questions have already been answered a year ago in this video:

Just as Apple introduces new technologies and brings them across the line:
SSD's, Retina, Force Touch (3D Touch)
So too will they bring the technologies created in the rMB to the rMBP.

They don't even have the March 2015 full keynote available on their YouTube channel, but they still keep the rMB videos up - the one above included.

All the little details (which ports, how many ports, which processors) I obviously can't tell but the overall picture has become abundantly clear to me in the last few days.

They will do their rMB update this month cause that already has the new technologies and then at WWDC they will wow us with an overhaul.

So keep hanging in there!

It's funny how Dell claims 17 hours (!!!) of battery life on the XPS 15" with 84 Watt Battery and "just" the full HD screen instead of the 4K touch. Anyone has ANY information on how realistic this is, best by own experience?

Because this is the exact model I'd be interested in. Benchmarks for its 512 GB SSD range from 1000 to 1300 MB/sec and you can upgrade it yourself to 32 GB DDR4 Ram, it's sporting a GTX 960M with 2 GB VRam and a max 3,5 GHz Quad Skylake i7 AND Thunderbolt 3 (in USB-C format). Im SO tempted I feel the tingles...

You can make it until June, little one...

12-13 hours on the FHD 84Whr battery
4-5 hours on the 4K version
7-8 hours on the FHD 56Whr battery
