Not sure if it's been stated before or not, but I don't think it has. However, there was a video posted back in February stating that Lenovo would be shipping laptops with the Radeon 400 series in April (this month, specifically the Radeon R7 M460). If this is indeed true, those of us that are hoping for a solid dGPU in the next rMBP may get what we want. Here's the link to the video:

as i said in my previous post, if you check the geekbench of the current air and 13" pro, you'll see they got really close. that points toward a merge of the two lines (eg. only one 13/14" model).
the highest graphics in the 15w cpus (the ones that the air has, to be clear) is the iris 540.
iris 550 has the same cores but higher frequency.

if i were apple, i'll make the lineup like this:
12" -> macbook mini
14" -> macbook
16" -> macbook pro

but it seems they still haven't figured out a consistent way to call their products...
mac mini - imac (?) - mac pro
iphone se (?) - 6s - 6s plus (!?)
ipad mini3 - air2 - pro9.7 - pro12.9 (???)
see what i mean?

I get what you're saying, but personally I would prefer that Apple break the link between screen size and power in the over-13" part of the range, in the same way they used to do with the 13" Air and Pro models before they gave up on performance.

Ideal for me would be the MacBook range covering 12 to 15(ish) inches, giving "good enough" performance for most users, all-day battery and a focus on light and efficient. Then a pro range where you can pay for hotter, faster parts if you really need them.

I don't see a Pro selling very well that line-up, even though I'd like one right now, since Apple seems to charge a premium for thin, presumably to recoup R&D costs (the original Air price was absurd, but I still bought one) and it might be hard to differentiate 'thin and expensive' from 'powerful and expensive' in the marketing.

Still, they manage to sell obsolete crap at a huge premium right now, so maybe they can find a way...

So uhhh... what happens if Apple only announces a new watch at WWDC?

2 things

Yeah for the stupid 40% thinner (who cares) watch!!!!

If I had the money, I'd be very interested in it! I am not a watch guy, i wear one from time to time, but I only like thin watches, so it'd be perfect for me. But then again, money... and in Holland, there's not much use for it yet with all the services it can offer.

But if you look at how fast they sifted through the new watchbands announcement in march, if you would triple that time to let them brag about how amazing the watch is, it won't even be 15 minutes. (Maybe add a little time for the overhyped clapping and showing it off)

I really believe Apple is going to bring something fresh to the Mac line-up at WWDC. Taking design cues from the current MacBook and applying it across the board.

You're probably right, but still I can't forget this...

They might have gone on and on about it in March just to get it out of the way so they won't have to deal with it. Apple will probably mention a little update at WWDC, that everything is still going great and that Liam has had intercourse with x amount of iPhones.
[doublepost=1460158562][/doublepost]And a fun waiting game:

Lets see if we can beat the page count of the "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" threads, merged" thread. We'd be the #1 largest thread in the MacBook Pro forum :)

There is time.... but we must be persistent and not lose heart!
All we really need are several more posts arguing over:
a) thinness
b) igpu vs dgpu
c) ports
d) eh... how much alcohol Wrong needs between now and then?

So the World Wide Developers Conference will talk about 2 new products, the MacBook Pro line and the Apple Watch 2? A traditional software event? I don't think so, it will be: OS X San Andreas, iOS X (think about that one!), and MacBook Pro is what makes sense to me....

Don't kid yourself too much on the bleeding heart stories...it's mostly marketing isn't it?

...and that's without going to working conditions in China, tax evasion and the like...

It's a bit like McDonalds trying to sell fruit..they have to be seen to be doing something...

But we don't want a Lenovo...

We are two months away now and other than some vague rumours, nothing. How many products have Apple released recently where there haven't been any leaks two months before announcement?
Every time I get a Google alert about Ming Chi-Kuo I hope to see something about Macs and every time I am disappointed.

Actually heath care is Steve Jobs's legacy. If you read Steve's biography you would know that.

I really hope this post was sarcasm. Apple or any other major tech giant do NOT give a damn about anything except profit maximization (which generally comes at the expense of worker exploitation and also the environment). These days profit maximization strategies include superficial side environmental initiatives to make people feel a little better about the brand, do not let those presentations fool you, it is all marketing.

they could do nothing and don't plant any of their solar plants around the world and keep their money
they could not release apple watch and health kit
they could not care about packing millions of their products in small packages
they could make their products with not so environment friendly materials

yes its much easy to say x care only but profits..but who don't? when you are making your company is one of the main reason to do so from the begining. but when you are on top of the world and reach 1st place, you start to care about health and the world. its easy to judge when you see only the big picture
