What I argue is the validity of their sources. AMD Polaris in MBP is... pretty obvious, but abusing this as "being well informed" is pretty pathetic tactic.
nope, it wasn't pretty obvious since we all thought that Apple will remove entirely the dGPU from any MBP since the Hd 580 is so strong

We all?

Nope. Not we all. I have always argued that if you want to put GTX960M into MBP and HD580 then it is complete waste of money, silicon, etc. I was saying that if you want improvement over HD580 you have to have something better.

so even you said the 15" mbp will no longer have a dgpu. now that polaris will be in time for summer you change your mind, but bottom line months ago, we all thought that apple, after removing even from 21.5" imac the dgpu, will also remove it from 15" MBP

I still think the 15" will be iGPU only (if we get a redesign). I don't trust WCCF...

It would be nice to have the power of a Polaris chip but I don't think it's worth it for me and the majority of MBP buyers.

Yes I did. I said that 15 inch will not have dGPU. In base model. I said that high end will have dGPU.

Especially when modern Intel architecture has improved so much and software developers are writing code optimized for these new architecture. The cost of writing code for GPUs that may or may not be on your customer's machine is too high in an increasing number of cases. An extra GPU is totally unjustifiable in my view.

I think it is almost certain that low end MBPs will have the P580 as a iGPU, because less would not sound even remotely "Pro" when compared to competitors. And for Apple to have any reason to offer a dGPU on higher end models and make design compromises because of that, the dGPu needs to be significantly better than iGPU. Previously the iGPU options were so poor that any dGPU was way better. The P580 is a bit harder to outperform.

So hearing that there will most likely be a dGPU is very good news for two reasons:
1. The gpu may finally be a good one in higher end MBPs.
2. Apple is still considering features and performance to some extent and not just trying to make things look good.

if they wanted to show they care about high end graphic performance.. then why do they currently have a middle class old dgpu offered ONLY on the highest priced 15" laptop?

new models will be thinner and lighter, because this is apple after all.
this means lower total TDP, which will only make things worse.

but it all seems like the complaints we had in 2012 when they discontinued the 17", suddenly everyone wanted it back, though real sales were very low, and the model was not worth offering anymore.

I'm not saying that they actually care - or at least have previously cared - about graphics performance that much and I know the past and current dGPU options have been mediocre.

But previously having just the iGPU as option in "pro" lineup would have been ridiculous. Now the P580 will be way closer to dGPU baseline, so having it as only option would not be that controversial. But now it seems that for some reason Apple wants to offer better graphics performance than P580. The fear for many is that Apple keeps going deeper into making things slimmer and ends selling laptops that are top of the class specwise. Still having a dGPU option in future is something that I find small but very comforting indication of the opposite.

Igpu closer to the dgpu? May e closer to the current mid class dgpu right? We dont know how difference is between P580 and polaris mid dgpu right?
[doublepost=1461069027][/doublepost]Otherwise we can compare P580 with desktop class geforce 750 but whats the point.

That's what I keep thinking when I see people make this comparison. The P580 stacks up against current gpu's, but most likely not up to new gpu's.

If we take even lowest expectations of Polaris: 1024 GCN core with 850 MHz core clock - 1.7 TFLOPs of compute power.
Compared to HD580 - that 0.6 TFLOPs more.
1280 GCN ASIC with same core clock would bring 2.176 TFLOPs. Whole 1 TFLOPs more.

I just can't see whatever laptop they announce at WWDC to not have these four colors...

I absolutely love the coordination of the design language / colors across product lines. It really embraces the ecosystem feel; you can match all of your devices. The next iMacs will probably have the same colors.

No price drop on the new rMB strongly suggests that the Air still has life. I really hope that we don't just get new Airs during WWDC and don't get Pros until later :(
