yes the MBA 11" will be removed since didnt get the 8 gb ram update. Facial reco you are right its harder in low light, but as the fingerprint can be fooled somehow. the fact that apple didnt make just a place for a fingerprint like others do for decades, im pretty sure they work on something easy to use and very logical. But i wonder if there at least a rumour that they are even trying for the mac

My current laptop is at the point where it's very frustrating to use and I can't make my mind up about what to do.

I keep considering the XPS, Surface Book, MacBook, and of course waiting for the MacBook Pro update. I would absolutely prefer to stick with Apple for a few reasons, but I don't know. The MacBook is enough power for my needs, but the price for what you get overall leaves me feeling like it's a few hundred dollars overpriced. The MacBook Pro is still at least two months away and I just don't know if I feel like waiting anymore.

I don't upgrade often at all, I need something that is future proofed for a while with features more so than just power. I just don't know what to do. Lol

You and I are sort of in the same boat, it seems.
I'm currently torn between the MacBook and the future Pro.

I don't really need all the power of a 15" quad core Pro.
But I like knowing that it's there, just in case.
And I do like having 15 glorious inches of retina screen real estate.

Then on the other hand, the thought of a completely silent little 12" MacBook is mighty tempting.
I hate fan noise, can't stand it.
And I'm sure it has enough horsepower for my needs right now. My gaming days are over, I don't edit high red videos and I don't do programming.
As long as it can run my old favourite games whenever nostalgia takes me I'm good.

But I also want a computer that will last me at least five years. And I know a Pro will still be more than fast enough in five years but the MacBook might not.
And I really, really don't like the MacBook keyboard but I might get used to it.
But I could get a MacBook right now and the updated Pro won't be out in at least two months (at best!).
But a MacBook is straight up stupid expensive compared to the Pro.
Argh!

Sorry guys, but...No I'm not sorry, this tablet is gorgeous. :p

couldn't resist. The tax refund money blow torching a hole in my pocket finally went though.

Picked up 8/256/i5 SP4 today. Beautiful tablet. I really have to give it to Microsoft. I felt like I was unboxing an Apple product; the quality is amazing.

This will be a great replacement for my iPad Air 2 and supplement for my rMBP.

Have fun guys.

What was wrong with your air 2?

since they updated the Macbook with rose gold....common guys, its clear that the Mbp will get the same key ideas from this one.
1) The 4 colour options
2) Individual led key illuminations
3) Speakers upgrade
4) usb-c but for the MBP they must go thunderbolt 3 usb-c ports
and beside those the usual suff like skylake cpu, ddr4 ram, igpu 550 and 580 and i hope for the same display tech from the macbook

Hi Knassar, what is the reason you are against a fingerprint sensor? I kind of like the idea, but I have never used a laptop with one. I do like the new one on the iPhone 6s.

Hey :)

Basically, I see it as a gimmick.

Think about the usage situations that arise in a phone vs a computer.

You take out your phone often, use it for brief periods, lock it, and put it back in your pocket. You really have to go through to workflow of unlock-use-lock many many times a day. This is much less true for computers, where you unlock it once, and tend to use it for longer periods of time at a time, and then leave it aside (locked) once you're done. The time saved by unlocking by fingerprint sensor on a laptop is not that significant in this case, because you tend to do it much less.

Since I view it as somewhat of an unnecessary feature, I consider that any design/mfg/parts resources Apple spends on it are resources it could probably spend elsewhere, and for better return.

My $0.02

Bringing Apple Pay to the Mac would be nice.

so when at sleep, you open the lid and its still locked, you have to press a key(so basically same idea of fingerprint for decades). so not same smoothness like on iphone. still face recon the best.
Yes, fingerprint sensor works much like a fingerprint sensor. It'll be exactly like the iPhone, save for having to open your laptop up. That can't be helped. Because it's a laptop.

Can't tell if sarcastic font...
I want Apple Pay too.

I understand your use case. For others, who need a bit more security and need to compromise between safety (i.e. non-obvious passwords) and ease of use (quick unlock), a fast fingerprint scanner sounds like a reasonable solution to me.

I use the fingerprint swipe scanner on my work ThinkPad W540 every day. It makes logging in much faster, and for corporate environments where it's common for standard IT policies to have your system auto lock after a short period, it offers further value.

I suspect we will eventually see some sort of TouchID implementation eventually. It's more of a question of when and how they do it, not if.

And that's, my friend, how was Apple, long time ago... (in a galaxy far far away)
Quick question just for talking: I don't understand why many people here are waiting for both MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
At least, seems to me that many people are like "Meh, I don't know, maybe I'll buy a MacBook Air, maybe the Pro."
Why so? They are so different, I know for sure I'm gonna buy a Pro, I won't even consider buying an Air as alternative option.

I don't think they're really that different any more - the MBP and MBA see a fair bit of overlap, especially when comparing the 13" models. 15" models of course may be different with quad-core CPUs and dGPUs. In the 13" models, processors aren't massively different in day to day use, RAM and storage etc are about the same, only thing massively different is the screen and design.

I'm waiting for a thinner MBP or retina MBA, whatever it turns out to be.

duervo, we are 100% on the same line!

Hey guys this question probably gets asked a lot and is probably annoying but at least I'm posting in the right thread.

When could these new Macbook Pros possible come out? Within the next 2 months? And would it be a quiet announcement like the new normal Macbook or will they be announced via live stream keynote?

'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, as we all we must do, than to ask such things...

Lol no one knows here buddy. If we had to take an educated guess we would say that there will be a refresh/redesign at WWDC. If you're considering waiting or buying I would lean towards waiting if you can bear it.

My late 2008 15-inch MBP keeps me in shape, weighs a ton. The fan screams like a banshee and battery life is down to 20 minutes. Will be fairly crestfallen if we don't get a redesigned 15- or 16-inch MBP at WWDC, and I am not liking the odds at this point. Been stiff-armed sooooo many times. Like years now.
