Apple is not stupid to make that mistake,,, i mean it will be bigger than anything else...forcing me (if i am a guy who loves wired headphones) to have 2 pairs, 1 for iphone and 1 for mac??? For god its theres own ecosystem
I know, i was kidding. But I honestly can't think of a reason why they'd bring the lightning port to the Mac. If USB c is so similar, why wouldn't they just use that?

You guys are all starting to sound like that german troll on this thread.
So let the history learn that our tech and engineers the most smartes people on earth can't make a better port for decades..ok

yes usb-c its clear on par with lightning in every way but i was watching now the intro of iphone 5 that phill said lightning is for the next 10 years...so apple making this statement in 2012 wouldnt know at that time that 3 years later usb-c will making the cut on the market ?

Phil is marketing, like he knows what hes talking about beside - it's so thin. It's amazing. It's wonderful - it's the best iPhone we have ever built.

Thats for sure, but we wonder if they will add the lightning port OR the iphone 7will come with usb-c

I dont think so. I think it might be an additional accessory you can buy.
Like Surface, but the other way around, you buy the keyboard part, where everything is located and the screen is the accessory that you can buy as an option for "only 699" or something. :D:p

I was actually thinking the inverse of this earlier. The smart connector on the iPad Pro seems to be capable of many things and perhaps a lot more that we don't know about. So what if Apple was to launch a iPP dock similar to the keyboard on the Surface Book? basically a rMBP without the screen that you could dock into and use the iPP as a display. That would be kinda cool, redundant but cool.

The 3.5mm jaco is since 1960...you living in the past, they are already out there high end lightning headphones

The highest sound quality (that which of interest to professionals) is through high quality speakers, not flimsy ear buds delivered via a 3.5mm that was forced to be reliable by trial and error over about 30/40 years than because a high quality designer was doing his/her job right.

These new air buds look fantastic - wireless charge em in the case. How cool is that? Those who want dangly wires can go and buy a flush USB-C to 3.5mm jack dongle. Please don't ruin my Mac just because you were born in the 1970s or 1980s.

I can see a MBP with the only ports being USB-C, an invisible trackpad and a vanishingly small bezel around the screen. 20% thinner and a 12 hour battery life. I have the option to turn on/off the Apple logo and I have keyboard travel distance/tactile touch options. I'd like to see silver and grey options only. What kind of a person would buy a pink MBP? I want my architect to turn up to my meetings in a black polo neck and black Levi 501 jeans. I'd be extremely suspicious of him otherwise.

I've got to agree with you, 32GB would be a dream. I'm not 100% certain Apple will implement it though.

I'm leaning towards yes, they will. Especially with the advent of DDR4 on the pros.

It has to be DD4. Intel wouldn't allow their chips to be used like that.

But you know that headphones then must have integrated dac converter and amplifiers? Indeed genius idea.

Electronics are cheap. Excluding marketing, the biggest cost is the design of the physical interface with the human ear cavity. Followed by the mechanical engineering. The electronics that you seem to know so much about (DACs and op-amps? Wow) are for nothing. Adding in Bluetooth LE, wireless charging and a battery is a very small percentage on the overall cost of producing high quality headphones that consumers cherish.

The answer is neither. The next iPhone will have lightning. The next Macbook Pro will not.
So i have to travel with lightning headphones for my iphone music and with my usb-c headphones for my mac music ? That would be incredible since mac and iphone are apples devices

Yes. With the lack of rumors there are few things I can say about the upcoming MBP with 100% certainty, but the inclusion of DDR4 is one of them.

That and:
  • USB type-c ports (At least one w/ thunderbolt 3)
  • All metal design
  • Thinner design
  • Colors
  • Butterfly keyboard
  • Force touch trackpad or some iteration (3D touch?)
  • Longer battery life
  • A **** ton of USB type-a and 3.5 mm ports. Just. Everywhere.

The best case scenario - for me - would be the iPhone moves to USB-C. Then the entire industry would be on one common connector. That has always been the dream hasn't it?

My Nexus 5X (Android development phone) has a USB-C port. It works perfectly. The best connector I've ever seen. Reversible, perfect tactile touch, 100% reliable, high quality charging electronics and smarts, high bandwidth, etc.

The problem I have is that I have a flimsy USB-C to USB3 connector dongle. It would be great if we could just move everything on to USB-C and get it over with. We had similar whining when optical drives and Ethernet ports were being removed. In my experience, most people don't know what's good for them.

Please don't ruin my Mac just because you were born in the 1970s or 1980s.

Man, seriously, calm down.
It's not "your" Mac.
You're not special.

You know what Ghandi said about USB-C ports ... they might be a good idea.

Wasn't it Jim Morrison who said that?

Why would they destroy the MBP line with a disastrous of a butterfly keyboard found on the RMB?

I've actually never tried one. Are they really that bad? I've heard some people love it and some people hate it.

I'm just fairly certain of its inclusion because of the slimming down of the chassis. That and the fact that Apple has a trend of creating a technology, implementing it on some device, and then spreading it across that product line.
