How do you imagine walk and work particularly in the studio? You either seat or stand there.
I think we have to see a bold solid line between entertainment and serious content production.

PS: the best headphones on a market for monitoring - Audeze (for instance LCD-3, LCD-4) are still utilize 6mm straight jack.

Amazing. High end professionals might go and buy a USB to 6mm jack converter. Imagine that.

A 6mm hole in a MBP is unrealistic. So why not make it available via USB-C! Wow!

A company might even go out and design a USB-C to gold-plated 6mm adapter dongle with a state-of-the-art A/D converter and make a few quid.

You realize that is Microsoft's Surface Book to a T right?

Yeah it is.
But you even you have to admit that Windows 10 touch optimization is bad in comparison to iOS (it was made for touch input). And if Apple were to create a hybrid device...that alternates between iOS (tablet) and Mac OS (keyboard connected), and with both OSs being extremely popular...it would be the realized version of the Surface Book.

Though no rumor indicates this. So just imagination for now.

I know nothing about Intels new processors. But based on the release of Skylake MBP-like processors, and based on how long it usually takes Apple to release MBPs with new processors, and based on when in the year Apple usually releases MBPs, any guesstimate on when new MBPs will come? :)

Anybody's guess is as good as yours, we don't know.... Most likely at WWDC, if not ether september or october (that would suck BIG TIME)

What if instead of a supposed 12, 14 and 16 inch model MacBook/MacBook Pro models, we had 12, 13, 14 inch? Aside from the one inch size difference would be the ports available and processor used. I.e. 12 is Core m, 13 is dual Core i (which processors exactly I don't know) and 14 is quad core with Iris Pro 580.

If they reduce the bezels they should be able to fit a 14" very close to 13" size, so im not sure they can get the Quad Core in there.

As an amateur audiophile, I know the best headphones connect with a standard jack. But I also plug my headphones into a USB DAC to listen to music, so it doesn't matter much to me. All I require for music is a USB port and I never use the jack on my laptop anyway. Audiophiles are always going to use an amp or a DAC and people who don't care about sound quality that much aren't going to care how their earbuds connect to the device. So I'm starting to come around on eliminating the jack (if necessary).

generally speaking i'm against giving up the 3.5mm jack, because that's what i use daily.
but your post makes sense to me, and since intel involvement i start to feel that's the direction we're going eventually.
the ultimate 'vision' of this usb-c connector is to have one single physical port, able to accept and connect any conceivable 2 devices.

the only thing that frightens me is that i don't want to have to carry 2 earbuds for my pc and my phone (besides an obvious transition period). in this regards, apple should put usb-c in mobile devices, it sounds like the best choice to me.

If this fragmentation of audio ports does happen, then I guess I have no choice but to go get myself wireless headphones. Been waiting to purchase one...thinking between Bose, Sony, or Audiotechnica.

I know wireless means a slight loss in quality, but its better than having to carry adapters or multiple head/earphones.

A little over a month until WWDC and no actual rumors on macbook pro(s)...
I have a bad feeling about this.. I would put my money on a fall release...

Well, as a musician, I do not fancy carrying an Audio Interface (external DAC) with me. Those suckers are expensive, very heavy and big.

Blablablabluetooth is the future, I get it. But as a producer, you must be able to hear what you are making in the greatest detail possible, on the go, being realistic.

The compression of the signal via bluetooth + latency will be a big problem, especially if you are trying to record something on a MIDI keyboard. All your notes will be completely off beat because the tempo you're recording to is delayed.

So hopefully Apple implements a port that you can atleast use wired headphones with, using the DAC in the rMBP.

I went to the Apple Store yesterday with a friend, while I was walking around I heard this Apple employee just talking with a customer about the MacBook Pro 15 inch, I heard "the latest Intel skylake processor" so I kept listening maybe I can hear any new information :p
But It turned out that this employee doesn't know that Skylake MacBook Pro 15 inch doesn't exist yet! and I couldn't stop myself from saying "excuse me, this machine doesn't have the latest Core i7..." and his answer was "off course it does..." The conversation developed into a challenge that I won...and the employee offered me his discount which I applied to the new Apple TV :p

Yes but the days for that 11" are coming to an end.
And apple can take the time to make the users that are happy with 15" and those with 17" and in the same current 15" mbp dimensions to make a 16.4" one

Absolutely. If Apple sticks with putting in a 3.5mm port in the rMBP...no way in hell am i purchasing a wireless headphone. And of course, its vital to your working profession.

The port is so small I dont see a reason to remove it. But the industry arent making on the 3.5mm headphone jack...so they're coming up with stupid methods to gain proprietary money (e.g. lightning port). I just hope they remain with it, if not then ****** wirless it is for me. TBH a lot of my buying decisions are based on this upcoming laptop...they have to hurry up the f up.

When Apple presents a new rMPB line with reduced form factors i foresee it will be
equivalent to the XPS 13 for a dual core Skylake I5 and Intel HD Graphics 520 for a 13 inch and then we might seen TB3 introduced for larger models.

i dont think combining quad cores, QHD+ screens, longer batteri life and multiple ports can be scaled down to meet the average macrumor members expectations at least not with a realistic price tag. Everyone knows the machines has to be thiner and a new design means it has to be in apple´s portfolio the next 5 years. So looking into my magic eight ball i would expect the next thinner 1gen. pro will be slightly underpowered and then we´ll see performance upgrades according to the tick tok model over the next five years.
